Context-Aware Semantic Type Identification for Relational Attributes

Identifying semantic types for attributes in relations,known as attribute semantic type(AST)identification,plays an important role in many data analysis tasks,such as data cleaning,schema matching,and keyword search in ***,due to a lack of unified naming standards across prevalent information systems(*** islands),AST identification still remains as an open *** tackle this problem,we propose a context-aware method to figure out the ASTs for relations in this *** transform the AST identification into a multi-class classification problem and propose a schema context aware(SCA)model to learn the representation from a collection of relations associated with attribute values and schema *** on the learned representation,we predict the AST for a given attribute from an underlying relation,wherein the predicted AST is mapped to one of the labeled *** improve the performance for AST identification,especially for the case that the predicted semantic types of attributes are not included in the labeled ASTs,we then introduce knowledge base embeddings(***)to enhance the above representation and construct a schema context aware model with knowledge base enhanced(SCA-KB)to get a stable and robust *** experiments based on real datasets demonstrate that our context-aware method outperforms the state-of-the-art approaches by a large margin,up to 6.14%and 25.17%in terms of macro average F1 score,and up to 0.28%and 9.56%in terms of weighted F1 score over high-quality and low-quality datasets respectively.

Each Fake News is Fake in its Own Way: An Attribution Multi-Granularity Benchmark for Multimodal Fake News Detection

Social platforms, while facilitating access to information, have also become saturated with a plethora of fake news, resulting in negative consequences. Automatic multimodal fake news detection is a worthwhile pursuit. Existing multimodal fake news datasets only provide binary labels of real or fake. However, real news is alike, while each fake news is fake in its own way. These datasets fail to reflect the mixed nature of various types of multimodal fake news. To bridge the gap, we construct an attributing multi-granularity multimodal fake news detection dataset AMG, revealing the inherent fake pattern. Furthermore, we propose a multi-granularity clue alignment model MGCA to achieve multimodal fake news detection and attribution. Experimental results demonstrate that AMG is a challenging dataset, and its attribution setting opens up new avenues for future research. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Regulation of morphology and visible light-driven photocatalysis of WO_(3)nanostructures by changing pH

The controlled preparation of hexagonal tungsten trioxide(h-WO_(3))nanostructures was achieved by adjusting the pH of the precursor *** effect of the pH on the morphology,elemental composition,and photocatalytic performance of the samples was characterized via X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy,and Raman ***-visible(UV-Vis)spectra were used to evaluate the absorbance and the photocatalytic performance of methylene ***(PL),electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,photocurrent response and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)were used to study the optical properties,electrical performance,and specific surface area of the WO_(3)-nanostructures,*** results indicate that the WO_(3) nanorods prepared at pH=1.0 exhibit the highest photocatalytic performance(87.4%in 1 h),whereas the WO_(3) nanoblocks prepared at p H=3.0 show the *** photocatalytic performance of the one dimensional(1 D)-nanorods can be attributed to their high specific surface area and charge transfer *** h-WO_(3) nanostructures were synthesized via a simple method and without a capping *** show an excellent photocatalytic performance,which is promising for their application in environment purification.

Due to the exceptional performance of Transform-ers in 2D medical image segmentation, recent work has also introduced them into 3D medical segmentation tasks. For instance, Swin UNETR and other hierarchical Transformers have reintroduced prior knowledge from several convolutional networks, further enhancing the volume segmentation capabilities of models. The efficacy of these hybrid methodologies is primarily attributed to the substantial quantity of parameters and the nonlocal self-attention mechanism with a large receptive field. We argue that the behavior of these methods' large receptive fields can be simulated by employing fewer parameters through the utilization of depth-wise convolutions with large kernel. Within this manuscript, we introduce a lightweight volume segmentation model called MedX-Net, which uses convolutional network modules to simulate hierarchical Transformers for robust volume segmentation. Firstly, inspired by the hierarchical Transformer module of Swin UNETR, we investigate large-kernel depth-wise convolutions with different sizes to achieve a reduced model parameter count while maintaining a large global receptive field. Secondly, we replace the multilayer perceptron (MLP) in the hierarchical Transformer module with Inverted Bottleneck with Depthwise Convolution Enhancement(DWCE) to improve model performance with fewer activation and normalization layers, further reducing the parameter count. We validate the effectiveness and efficiency of our model for volume segmentation on three public datasets: Synapse, BTCV and ACDC. On the Synapse dataset, compared to Swin UNETR, our model achieves an improvement from 83.48% to 87.21% in Dice score. Compared to the result of 86.57% achieved by nnFormer, our model achieves superior performance while reducing the model parameter count by 64%. © 2024 IEEE.

knowledge graphs (KGs) play an increasingly im-portant role in many knowledge-aware tasks. However, existing KGs are struggle with incompleteness, which motivates knowledge graph completion (KGC), that is, predicting the lost links between entities based on observed triples. Reasoning over relation paths in incomplete KGs is popular. Nonetheless, some significant issues are still remained to be addressed, such as path noise and ambiguity of inferred relation. To address these problems, we propose a novel path augmented _Reasoning model with avoidance of Path noise and Disambiguation of inferred relation in this paper, referred to as RPD. In this model, we calculate the sum of resource allocation for each relation path to measure its reliability to avoid the inference of path noise. To address the ambiguity of an inferred relation, we introduce position embedding to denote the relation position along the path when learning path representation. Extensive experiments conducted on benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposal RPD model in the handling of KGC tasks compared to SOTAs.

Task-oriented point cloud sampling methods have attracted considerable attention for their ability to adaptively select important point sets based on downstream tasks, achieving an excellent balance between data simplification and task performance. However, existing task-oriented sampling models, primarily based on single-branch designs, struggle to fully extract features from input point clouds that comprehensively reflect multi-dimensional key information, thus limiting their sampling performance. In this paper, we introduce a dual-branch sampling network, named DBS-NET, which conducts crucial point sampling from both the global and local importance perspectives separately before merging them, thereby preserving multi-dimensional key information of the input data during the sampling process. Qualitative and quantitative experimental results demonstrate the competitive performance of DBS-NET on the classification benchmark task. © 2024 IEEE.

The recent rise of conversational applications such as online customer service systems and intelligent personal assistants has promoted the development of conversational knowledge base question answering (ConvKBQA). Different from the traditional single-turn KBQA, ConvKBQA usually explores multi-turn questions around a topic, where ellipsis and coreference pose great challenges to the single-turn KBQA systems which require self-contained questions. In this paper, we propose a rewrite- and-reason framework to first produce a full-fledged rewritten question based on the conversation history and then reason the answer by existing single-turn KBQA models. To overcome the absence of the rewritten supervision signals, we introduce a knowledge-augmented self-training mechanism to transfer the question rewriter from another dataset to adapt to the current knowledge base. Our question rewriter is decoupled from the subsequent QA process, which makes it easy to be united with either retrieval-based or semantic parsing-based KBQA models. Experiment results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method and a new state-of-the-art result is achieved. Academic collaboration has become one of the topics of large-scale social network analysis. The information extracted from academic collaboration also shows the contextual value in combination with other data. For academic collaborative social networks with intricate collaborative relationships, previous research methods mainly focused on network structure and community discovery, lacking in mining the characteristics of relationships in collaborative networks. There were some limitations in the research perspective. In this work, we propose a collaborative relationship representation method that is more suitable for academic collaborative social networks. It marks the attribute characteristics of nodes in collaborative relationships and highlights collaborative relationships in visualization. By adopting this new representation of collaborative relationships, we designed a visual analysis framework NcoVis, to visualize academic collaborative social networks. We further visually analyze the link relationship groups guided by nodes, and explore the potential representation of the structure and attribute characteristics of link relationships, so that analysts can explore the theme and structural change characteristics of link relationships, communities and the whole network in collaborative social networks. To prove the proposed framework, we conducted a case study on the academic collaboration literature data set, and analyzed the questionnaire with Likert scale through the user evaluation experiment, which verified the effectiveness of our method and the practicability of NcoVis. © 2022 IEEE.

Automatically generated questions often suffer from problems such as unclear expression or factual inaccuracies, requiring a reliable and comprehensive evaluation of their quality. Human evaluation is widely used in the field of question generation (QG) and serves as the gold standard for automatic metrics. However, there is a lack of unified human evaluation criteria, which hampers consistent and reliable evaluations of both QG models and automatic metrics. To address this, we propose QGEval, a multi-dimensional Evaluation benchmark for Question Generation, which evaluates both generated questions and existing automatic metrics across 7 dimensions: fluency, clarity, conciseness, relevance, consistency, answerability, and answer consistency. We demonstrate the appropriateness of these dimensions by examining their correlations and distinctions. Through consistent evaluations of QG models and automatic metrics with QGEval, we find that 1) most QG models perform unsatisfactorily in terms of answerability and answer consistency, and 2) existing metrics fail to align well with human judgments when evaluating generated questions across the 7 dimensions. We expect this work to foster the development of both QG technologies and their evaluation. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.
