Diffusion MRI (dMRI) is widely used for the detection and diagnosis of various pathologies due to its non-invasive nature. However, its signal acquisition process is relatively slow and susceptible to motions. In order to accelerate reconstruction process, many deep learning-based methods have been developed in recent years to achieve promising results, while most of them are supervised based methods and require fully sampled data which are difficult to obtain in practical applications to train the network. Self-supervised based methods were proposed to deal with this problem to a certain extent, however, they are devoted only to conventional MRI data, ignoring the correlation between the directions of dMRI data. To address this issue, we propose a self-supervised fast reconstruction method for dMRI based on multi-directional assistance. The method better utilizes the information between dMRI data directions by Partition-Replace operation, cleverly constructing data pairs and designing effective self-supervised strategy for bi-directional prediction, which can overcome the problem of data incompleteness and guide the model to reconstruct unsampled signals in spite of the difficulty of acquiring fully sampled data. Experimental results show that our method achieves better reconstruction in the absence of fully sampled data, even with an 8-fold acceleration factor. © 2024 IEEE.

Chinese idiom is a distinctive language phenomenon, which usually consists of four Chinese characters and expresses a non-compositional and metaphorical meaning. Therefore, Chinese idioms pose unique challenges for Chinese machine reading comprehension. To address this issue, researchers proposed a Chinese idiom cloze task and a large-scale Chinese idioms dataset ChID. Existing methods have proposed a number of models and achieved reasonable performance on ChID. However, they fall short of fully exploring the precise representations and distinctions of the meanings of idioms, especially idioms with similar meanings. In this paper, we propose a prompt-based representation individual enhancement method (PRIEM). This method fuses the context-specific representation and the generic definition representation of the idioms, and uses the prompt method to guide the model in learning the metaphorical meanings of idioms purposefully. To further improve the distinction representations of idioms with similar meanings, PRIEM adopts a method of idiom representation mapping and decomposing based on orthogonal projection to obtain the common and individual representations of idioms respectively. SGSH: Stimulate Large Language Models with Skeleton Heuristics for knowledge Base Question Generation

knowledge base question generation (KBQG) aims to generate natural language questions from a set of triplet facts extracted from KB. Existing methods have significantly boosted the performance of KBQG via pre-trained language models (PLMs) thanks to the richly endowed semantic knowledge. With the advance of pre-training techniques, large language models (LLMs) (e.g., GPT-3.5) undoubtedly possess much more semantic knowledge. Therefore, how to effectively organize and exploit the abundant knowledge for KBQG becomes the focus of our study. In this work, we propose SGSH — a simple and effective framework to Stimulate GPT-3.5 with Skeleton Heuristics to enhance KBQG. The framework incorporates "skeleton heuristics", which provides more fine-grained guidance associated with each input to stimulate LLMs to generate optimal questions, encompassing essential elements like the question phrase and the auxiliary verb. More specifically, we devise an automatic data construction strategy leveraging ChatGPT to construct a skeleton training dataset, based on which we employ a soft prompting approach to train a BART model dedicated to generating the skeleton associated with each input. Subsequently, skeleton heuristics are encoded into the prompt to incentivize GPT-3.5 to generate desired questions. Extensive experiments demonstrate that SGSH derives the new state-of-the-art performance on the KBQG tasks. The code is now available on Github1 Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The emergence of SARS-Co V-2 variant of concern omicron BA.2 led to high infection incidence rates as well as reduced severity of COVID-19 during the Shanghai Spring epidemic of 2022 [1]. We assessed the role of viral pathogenicity and the effectiveness of inactivated vaccines in a retrospective observational study including 10 258 confirmed COVID-19cases identified between April and June of 2022, from four COVID-19 designated hospitals located in two areas of Shanghai, namely the West Bund and the East Bund, where the populations’ demographic characteristics varied significantly (Table S1, Fig. S1).

Multi-label classification deals with the problem where an instance is associated with multiple labels simultaneously. Most existing multi-label classification algorithms assume that the labels of the training data are complete. However, we can obtain only a partial label set of each instance in some real applications since labelling data is difficult or costly. Some existing works on multi-label classification with missing labels focus on exploiting label correlations to complete the original label space and simultaneously build a multi-label learning model using label specific features. However, these methods may be suboptimal since they do not preserve feature-label space consistency. In this paper, we propose a Space Consistency-based Multi-Label classification algorithm named SCML to address this issue. First, label correlation in label space is learned to augment the incomplete original label matrix to a new supplementary label matrix, and the multi-label classifier is constructed simultaneously based on the new supplementary label matrix. Then, correlation information in feature space is learned based on the probabilistic neighborhood similarities to preserve feature-label space consistency. Moreover, the proposed algorithm has an effective mechanism for learning label-specific features to improve the multi-label classification with missing labels. Extensive experiments on twelve benchmark data sets validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach for improving the generalization performance of state-of-the-art algorithms of multi-label learning with missing labels.

MEFA-Net: A mask enhanced feature aggregation network for polyp segmentation

Accurate polyp segmentation is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer. This is a challenging task for three main reasons: (i) the problem of model overfitting and weak generalization due to the multi-center distribution of data;(ii) the problem of interclass ambiguity caused by motion blur and overexposure to endoscopic light;and (iii) the problem of intraclass inconsistency caused by the variety of morphologies and sizes of the same type of polyps. To address these challenges, we propose a new high-precision polyp segmentation framework, MEFA-Net, which consists of three modules, including the plug-and-play Mask Enhancement Module (MEG), Separable Path Attention Enhancement Module (SPAE), and Dynamic Global Attention Pool Module (DGAP). Specifically, firstly, the MEG module regionally masks the high-energy regions of the environment and polyps through a mask, which guides the model to rely on only a small amount of information to distinguish between polyps and background features, avoiding the model from overfitting the environmental information, and improving the robustness of the model. At the same time, this module can effectively counteract the "dark corner phenomenon" in the dataset and further improve the generalization performance of the model. Next, the SPAE module can effectively alleviate the inter-class fuzzy problem by strengthening the feature expression. Then, the DGAP module solves the intra-class inconsistency problem by extracting the invariance of scale, shape and position. Finally, we propose a new evaluation metric, MultiColoScore, for comprehensively evaluating the segmentation performance of the model on five datasets with different domains. We evaluated the new method quantitatively and qualitatively on five datasets using four metrics. Experimental results show that MEFA-Net significantly improves the accuracy of polyp segmentation and outperforms current state-of-the-art algorithms. Code posted on https://***/

Deep learning methods have shown significant performance in medical image analysis tasks. However, they generally act like 'black box' without explanations in both feature extraction and decision processes, leading to lack of clinical insights and high risk assessments. To aid deep learning in envisioning diseases with visual clues, we propose Representation Group-Disentangling Network (RGD-Net), which can completely disentangle feature space of input X-ray images into several independent feature groups, each corresponding to a specific disease. Taking several semantically related and labeled X-ray images as input, RGD-Net firstly extracts completely group-disentangled representations of diseases through Group-Disentangle Module, which applies group-swap and linking operations to construct latent space by enforcing semantic consistency of attributes. To prevent learning degenerate representations defined as shortcut problem, we further introduce adversarial constricts on mapping from features to diseases, thus avoiding model collapse with former free-form disentanglement. Experiments on chestxray-14 and ChestXpert datasets demonstrate that RGD-Net are effective in predicting diseases with remarkable advantages, which leverage potential factors contributing to different diseases, thus enhancing interpretability in working patterns of deep learning methods. © 2022 IEEE.

Semi-supervised graph domain adaptation, as a branch of graph transfer learning, aims to annotate unlabeled target graph nodes by utilizing transferable knowledge learned from a label-scarce source graph. However, most existing studies primarily concentrate on aligning feature distributions directly to extract domain-invariant features, while ignoring the utilization of the intrinsic structure information in graphs. Inspired by the significance of data structure information in enhancing models' generalization performance, this paper aims to investigate how to leverage the structure information to assist graph transfer learning. To this end, we propose an innovative framework called TFGDA. Specially, TFGDA employs a structure alignment strategy named STSA to encode graphs' topological structure information into the latent space, greatly facilitating the learning of transferable features. To achieve a stable alignment of feature distributions, we also introduce a SDA strategy to mitigate domain discrepancy on the sphere. Moreover, to address the overfitting issue caused by label scarcity, a simple but effective RNC strategy is devised to guide the discriminative clustering of unlabeled nodes. Experiments on various benchmarks demonstrate the superiority of TFGDA over SOTA methods. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. All rights reserved.

Accurately predicting the grade of gliomas is crucial for choosing right treatment plans. While current methods using radiomics and deep learning can predict glioma grades effectively using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), they overlook dynamic changes in the tumor and its neighboring areas. To address this issue, we propose a tumor state-space network (TSSNet), which fully exploits changes in the tumor region and its surroundings through dynamical updating strategy. The experimental results demonstrated that TSSNet achieves 90.32% accuracy and 93.55% area under the curve (AUC) for the prediction of high-grade and low-grade gliomas, respectively, which are 2.4% and 2.5% higher than the best state-of-the-art deep learning models. Moreover, the proposed state-space module can effectively enhance prediction performance, which is advantageous for personalized glioma treatment. © 2024 IEEE.
