Much of commonsense knowledge in real world is in the form of procudures or sequences of steps to achieve particular goals. In recent years, knowledge extraction on procedural documents has attracted considerable attention. However, they often focus on procedural text but ignore a common multimodal scenario in the real world. Images and text can complement each other semantically, alleviating the semantic ambiguity suffered in text-only modality. Motivated by these, in this paper, we explore a problem of grounded multimodal procedural entity recognition (GMPER), aiming to detect the procedural entity and the corresponding bounding box groundings in images (i.e., visual entities). A new dataset (Wiki-GMPER) is built and extensive experiments are conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed model. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

Generating coherent and credible explanations remains a significant challenge in the field of AI. In recent years, researchers have delved into the utilization of entailment trees to depict explanations, which exhibits a reasoning process of how a hypothesis is deduced from the supporting facts. However, existing models often overlook the importance of generating intermediate conclusions with logical consistency from the given facts, leading to inaccurate conclusions and undermining the overall credibility of entailment trees. To address this limitation, we propose the logical pattern memory pre-trained model (LMPM). LMPM incorporates an external memory structure to learn and store the latent representations of logical patterns, which aids in generating logically consistent conclusions. Furthermore, to mitigate the influence of logically irrelevant domain knowledge in the Wikipedia-based data, we introduce an entity abstraction approach to construct the dataset for pre-training LMPM. The experimental results highlight the effectiveness of our approach in improving the quality of entailment tree generation. By leveraging logical entailment patterns, our model produces more coherent and reasonable conclusions that closely align with the underlying premises. A Low-Rank Matching Attention Based Cross-Modal Feature Fusion Method for Conversational Emotion Recognition

Conversational emotion recognition (CER) is an important research topic in human-computer interactions. Although recent advancements in transformer-based cross-modal fusion methods have shown promise in CER tasks, they tend to overlook the crucial intra-modal and inter-modal emotional interaction or suffer from high computational complexity. To address this, we introduce a novel and lightweight cross-modal feature fusion method called Low-Rank Matching Attention Method (LMAM). LMAM effectively captures contextual emotional semantic information in conversations while mitigating the quadratic complexity issue caused by the self-attention mechanism. Specifically, by setting a matching weight and calculating inter-modal features attention scores row by row, LMAM requires only one-third of the parameters of self-attention methods. We also employ the low-rank decomposition method on the weights to further reduce the number of parameters in LMAM. As a result, LMAM offers a lightweight model while avoiding overfitting problems caused by a large number of parameters. Moreover, LMAM is able to fully exploit the intra-modal emotional contextual information within each modality and integrates complementary emotional semantic information across modalities by computing and fusing similarities of intra-modal and inter-modal features simultaneously. Experimental results verify the superiority of LMAM compared with other popular cross-modal fusion methods on the premise of being more lightweight. Also, LMAM can be embedded into any existing state-of-the-art CER methods in a plug-and-play manner, and can be applied to other multi-modal recognition tasks, e.g., session recommendation and humour detection, demonstrating its remarkable generalization ability. © 2024 IEEE.

As the scale of the networks continually expands,the detection of distributed denial of service(DDoS)attacks has become increasingly *** propose an intelligent detection model named IGED by using improved generalized entropy and deep neural network(DNN).The initial detection is based on improved generalized entropy to filter out as much normal traffic as possible,thereby reducing data *** the fine detection is based on DNN to perform precise DDoS detection on the filtered suspicious traffic,enhancing the neural network’s generalization *** results show that the proposed method can efficiently distinguish normal traffic from DDoS *** with the benchmark methods,our method reaches 99.9%on low-rate DDoS(LDDoS),flooded DDoS and CICDDoS2019 datasets in terms of both accuracy and efficiency in identifying attack flows while reducing the time by 17%,31%and 8%.

Facile synthesis of W-Mo bimetallic oxides with high adsorption properties from secondary resources

A simple solvothermal method was used to obtain W-Mo bimetallic oxides from W-Mo alloy scrap,and pure metal powders were also used as the raw materials to simulate *** products had a sea urchin-like structure with abundant oxygen vacancies and the products prepared at low temperatures forms a sosoloid resembling orthorhombic W_(0.4)Mo_(0.6)O_(3).The WMo bimetallic oxide prepared at the reaction temperature of 120℃exhibited excellent selective adsorption performance for methylene blue(MB),which the adsorption rate of MB reached 99%in 12 min and the adsorption rate reached 90%after6 adsorption *** the W-Mo molar ratio is 1:3,the maximum adsorption capacity of sample for MB can reach1148 mg·g^(-1).The adsorption process followed the Langmuir and pseudo-second-order models,which is surface-controlled monolayer *** experimental results show the feasibility of preparing W-Mo bimetal oxide products from pure materials and *** process is simple and effective,which offered a potential approach for secondary resource recycling and reusing.

HUSS:A Heuristic Method for Understanding the Semantic Structure of Spreadsheets

Spreadsheets contain a lot of valuable data and have many practical *** key technology of these practical applications is how to make machines understand the semantic structure of spreadsheets,e.g.,identifying cell function types and discovering relationships between cell *** existing methods for understanding the semantic structure of spreadsheets do not make use of the semantic information of cells.A few studies do,but they ignore the layout structure information of spreadsheets,which affects the performance of cell function classification and the discovery of different relationship types of cell *** this paper,we propose a Heuristic algorithm for Understanding the Semantic Structure of spreadsheets(HUSS).Specifically,for improving the cell function classification,we propose an error correction mechanism(ECM)based on an existing cell function classification model[11]and the layout features of *** improving the table structure analysis,we propose five types of heuristic rules to extract four different types of cell pairs,based on the cell style and spatial location *** experimental results on five real-world datasets demonstrate that HUSS can effectively understand the semantic structure of spreadsheets and outperforms corresponding baselines.

Dual-comb spectroscopy is a competitive means of laser absorption spectroscopy owing to broad spectral range and high spectral resolution. Single-cavity dual-comb systems based on mode-locked lasers hold promising potential for further simplifying dual-comb spectroscopy. Two combs possess natural coherence because of common mode noise suppression. Herein, we proposed an all-fiber dispersion-managed dual-comb laser to broaden the spectra of dual combs. The output laser with a 3-dB bandwidth as broad as 9 nm at 1.5 μm was experimentally obtained. Dual combs were realized by the walk-off of orthogonal polarization modes and directly employed to absorption spec-troscopy due to their overlapped spectra. In order to improve the signal-to-noise ratio of dual-comb measurement, interferogram averaging was conducted, where the signal-to-noise ratio was generally proportional to the square root of averaging times. Besides, phase and frequency jitter was corrected by cross-correlation method. High resolution absorption lines of hydrogen cyanide from P18 to P26 were measured. Positions of measured absorption lines were in line with ones in HITRAN database, with an average error of approximate 1 pm. To the best of our knowledge, the 9-line result was the broadest bandwidth of polarization-multiplexed single-cavity dual combs without additional spectral spreading operation. The results demonstrate that the compact dual-comb spectrometer can be considered a potential candidate for quantitative measurements in practical applications. © 2024 IEEE.
