With the increasing population of drivers and the popularity of intelligent cars, traffic safety is becoming more concerned. Aiming to reduce the probability of road accidents, many works have explored how to provide an early warning when the distances between the current car (or the in-car camera) and vehicles ahead are dangerous. In this paper, benefiting from the robust pixel-level understanding of cutting-edge deep networks, we introduce a vehicle segmentation method based on monocular vision, detecting vehicles in front of the current one and generating a segmentation mask for each vehicle instance detected. Instead of concentrating our efforts on measuring distance precisely, we categorize distances into three classes (“near”, “medium”, and “far”), which are pretty enough for an early collision warning. Our model is trained and evaluated on our hand-made dataset, after which we transfer and deploy it onto an Android TV virtual machine to test its performance. All the results we got show that our method does a good job in vehicle segmentation with coarse distance estimation, being applicable to aided driving.

The low-altitude economy (LAE), as a new economic paradigm, plays an indispensable role in cargo transportation, healthcare, infrastructure inspection, and especially post-disaster communication. Specifically, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as one of the core technologies of the LAE, can be deployed to provide communication coverage, facilitate data collection, and relay data for trapped users, thereby significantly enhancing the efficiency of post-disaster response efforts. However, conventional UAV self-organizing networks exhibit low reliability in long-range cases due to their limited onboard energy and transmit ability. Therefore, in this paper, we design an efficient and robust UAV-swarm enabled collaborative self-organizing network to facilitate post-disaster communications. Specifically, a ground device transmits data to UAV swarms, which then use collaborative beamforming (CB) technique to form virtual antenna arrays and relay the data to a remote access point (AP) efficiently. Then, we formulate a rescue-oriented post-disaster transmission rate maximization optimization problem (RPTRMOP), aimed at maximizing the transmission rate of the whole network. Given the challenges of solving the formulated RPTRMOP by using traditional algorithms, we propose a two-stage optimization approach to address it. In the first stage, the optimal traffic routing and the theoretical upper bound on the transmission rate of the network are derived. In the second stage, we transform the formulated RPTRMOP into a variant named V-RPTRMOP based on the obtained optimal traffic routing, aimed at rendering the actual transmission rate closely approaches its theoretical upper bound by optimizing the excitation current weight and the placement of each participating UAV via a diffusion model-enabled particle swarm optimization (DM-PSO) algorithm. Predictive and Contrastive: Dual-Auxiliary Learning for Recommendation

Self-supervised learning (SSL) recently has achieved outstanding success on recommendation. By setting up an auxiliary task (either predictive or contrastive), SSL can discover supervisory signals from the raw data without human annotation, which greatly mitigates the problem of sparse user-item interactions. However, most SSL-based recommendation models rely on general-purpose auxiliary tasks, e.g., maximizing correspondence between node representations learned from the original and perturbed interaction graphs, which are explicitly irrelevant to the recommendation task. Accordingly, the rich semantics reflected by social relationships and item categories, which lie in the recommendation data-based heterogeneous graphs, are not fully exploited. To explore recommendation-specific auxiliary tasks, we first quantitatively analyze the heterogeneous interaction data and find a strong positive correlation between the interactions and the number of user-item paths induced by meta-paths. Based on the finding, we design two auxiliary tasks that are tightly coupled with the target task (one is predictive and the other one is contrastive) towards connecting recommendation with the self-supervision signals hiding in the positive correlation. Finally, a model-agnostic DUal-Auxiliary Learning (DUAL) framework which unifies the SSL and recommendation tasks is developed. The extensive experiments conducted on three real-world datasets demonstrate that DUAL can significantly improve recommendation, reaching the state-of-the-art performance. To address the challenges associated with insufficiently extracting and utilizing features at different levels, overlooking the connection between label meanings and text, and facing problems of over-compression or information loss when extracting global information using recurrent neural networks in the field of multi-label text categorization, this paper introduces an innovative model known as MFFLEN (MultiFeature Fusion and Label Embedding Neural Network). First, a back-translated enhanced label set is constructed by back-translated splicing enhancement of the original label set. This set, together with the text, is then input into the embedding layer, which consists of the pre-trained model of bert-baseChinese, thus establishing the initial connection between the text and the labels within the same vector space. Then, to comprehensively extract multi-level semantic features, the model uses a convolutional layer to extract local features and an embedding layer to extract sentence-level features. A bidirectional attention embedded GRU (BAE-GRU) layer is used to extract hybrid finegrained features, which are then fed into the attention layer to further extract hybrid labeled features based on labeling information. Finally, these three different types of features are fused and multi-label text classification results are obtained using a classifier. The experiments proved that the MFFLEN model achieved 73.82% and 88.44% macro-F1 and 88.00% and 88.86% micro-F1 on the two datasets CAIL 2018 Small and CAIL 2018 Split, respectively, which is better than other baseline models.

Image-text retrieval is a basic cross-modal task, and the basic idea is to learn image-text matching. The key to this task is to accurately measure the similarity between these two modalities. However, most existing methods tend to measure image-text similarity based on highly correlated region-word pairs, which lacks the ability to capture complex cross-modal semantic associations, thereby resulting in failure to distinguish hard negative examples that are similar in semantic content. Furthermore, existing methods focus more on alignment of different modal features, thus neglecting deep reasoning about the semantic concepts within the modality. In this paper, we propose a new semantic information reasoning and multi-step cross-modal interaction (SRMCI) network to simultaneously explore intra-modal and inter-modal relationships. Specifically, we first propose a semantic information reasoning module to fully explore potential semantic relationships within modalities and focus on fragments with important semantic information. Then, we design a multi-step cross-modal interaction module that utilizes two different inter-modal interactive attentions and an effective gated fusion strategy to capture fragment-level and fragment-instance-level cross-modal semantic associations. In particular, this gated fusion strategy is used to learn better fine-grained feature representations to aid in understanding and establishing semantic associations between different modalities. Experiments on the benchmark datasets MS-COCO and Flickr30K demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.

Image-text matching is an important problem at the intersection of computer vision and natural language processing. It aims to establish the semantic link between image and text to achieve high-quality semantic alignment between the two modalities. However, the existing methods have the problem that the meaning expressed in the image or the complex narrative in the text cannot be fully understood due to insufficient feature extraction. Moreover, due to the essential modal differences between images and texts, how to effectively and accurately align the semantic contents in images and texts has become the key of research. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a method based on feature enhancement and relationship interaction. When processing images, the proposed method fuses labeled features, region features and location features to represent images. When processing text, a combination of Bi-GRU and self-attention mechanism is used to represent the text. In order to further align the semantic content in images and texts accurately, this paper improves two relational interaction mechanisms by identifying connection relationships and learning association relationships. Thus, the relation enhanced embedding is obtained. Finally, it calculated the similarity of the enhanced embedding to judge the matching degree of the image and text. Extensive experiments on the public datasets Flickr30K and MSCOCO demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.

Long term results in children underwent nuss procedure preschool with pectus excavatum: Real-world study with propensity matching

Background: It is controversial when surgery should be performed for pectus excavatum (PE). The study retrospectively compared the long-term prognosis in PE children undergoing the Nuss procedure at the age of 4–6 versus those performing surgery at the age of 12–14. Methods: 178 patients were included in the retrospective real-world research. Clinical Characteristics were collected at baseline. The endpoint of the study was set as the last follow-up at the age of 18 in outpatient services. Satisfaction and complication rate were set as the primary outcome and were collected at the endpoint. Hospital stay post-surgery and analgesia dosage were regard as the secondary outcome. To reduce potential bias between two different age groups, propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was analysized. Results: The oral analgesic dosage of children in the 4–6 years old age group is significantly lower than that of the 12–14 years old group (0.70/kg, 0.30–1.50/kg versus 1.50/kg, 0.90–2.30/kg, P < 0.001), and children in the younger age group are discharged earlier. There was no difference in overall satisfaction (89.1 %, versus 88.20 %, P = 0.99) and recurrence rate (7.2 %, versus 6.8 %, P = 0.99) between the two groups of when they reach the age of 18. Conclusions: Performing Nuss procedure at the age of 4–6 does not affect the overall long-term satisfaction of the child or increase the long-term recurrence rate. Surgical intervention in children with pectus excavatum preschool can provide a better postoperative experience in hospital compared with intervention in adolescent. © 2024 The Authors

High junction temperature (Tj) of LED will affect the performance and life of LED, so this paper proposes a high-power LED junction temperature test method. Mainly aiming at the problem that the accuracy of the forward current method (FCM) will be affected by the calibration procedure, equipment aging, and technical differences when batch testing LED Tj, this paper uses the relationship between relative current and Tj to calibrate the procedure based on this method, to limit the negative affection of sample heterogeneity. Ten LED samples were tested in the experiment, and the Tj errors under two test methods were obtained. The results showed that the improved method was more accurate than the traditional method. Then, the Tj error of the improved method was compared with that of the forward voltage method, and the error of the new method was smaller. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In recent years, research has illuminated the potency of implicit data processing in enhancing user preferences. Nevertheless, barriers remain in breaking through the constraints of implicit information. This study aims to bridge this gap by firstly constructing a triangular stable node network model, tailored to manage implicit information with precision. Recognizing the challenge of pinpointing novel structures within large-scale graphs, we propose SLTSNN— a triangular stable node network based on self-supervised learning for personalized prediction. SLTSNN innovates by maximizing mutual information between graph-level and patch-level representations, while augmenting graph representations through extended enhanced representations. Additionally, it incorporates triangular data associations and introduces a triangular allocation attention network, which emphasizes strongly correlated preference features among similar users. Furthermore, SLTSNN employs contrastive learning to maximize mutual information between graph vectors and hidden representations, distinguishing between high-order global and local representations. The model’s effectiveness in enhancing user preferences and capturing new graph structures is evidenced by its performance on hit rate and normalized discounted cumulative gain metrics across three datasets.
