Comparative analysis of time irreversibility and amplitude irreversibility based on joint permutation

Although time irreversibility (TIR) and amplitude irreversibility (AIR) are relevant concepts for nonequilibrium analysis, their association has received little attention. This paper conducts a systematic comparative analysis of the relationship between TIR and AIR based on statistical descriptions and numerical simulations. To simplify the quantification of TIR and AIR, the amplitude permutation and global information of the associated vector are combined to produce a joint probability estimation. Chaotic logistic, Henon, and Lorenz series are generated to evaluate TIR and AIR according to surrogate theory, and the distributions of joint permutations for these model series are measured to compare the degree of TIR and AIR. The joint permutation TIR and AIR are then used to investigate nonequilibrium pathological features in epileptic electroencephalography data. Test results suggest that epileptic brain electrical activities, particular those during the onset of seizure, manifest higher nonequilibrium characteristics. According to the statistical definitions and targeted pairs of joint permutations in the chaotic model data, TIR and AIR are fundamentally different nonequilibrium descriptors from time- and amplitude-reversibility, respectively, and thus require different forms of numerical analysis. At the same time, TIR and AIR both provide measures for fluctuation theorems associated with nonequilibrium processes, and have similar probabilistic differences in the pairs of joint permutations and consistent outcomes when used to analyze both the model series and real-world signals. Overall, comparative analysis of TIR and AIR contributes to our understanding of nonequilibrium features and broadens the scope of quantitative nonequilibrium measures. To promote the generalization ability of breast tumor segmentation models, as well as to improve the segmentation performance for breast tumors with smaller size, low-contrast and irregular shape, we propose a progressive dual priori network (PDPNet) to segment breast tumors from dynamic enhanced magnetic resonance images (DCE-MRI) acquired at different centers. The PDPNet first cropped tumor regions with a coarse-segmentation based localization module, then the breast tumor mask was progressively refined by using the weak semantic priori and cross-scale correlation prior knowledge. To validate the effectiveness of PDPNet, we compared it with several state-of-the-art methods on multi-center datasets. The results showed that, comparing against the suboptimal method, the DSC and HD95 of PDPNet were improved at least by 5.13% and 7.58% respectively on multi-center test sets. In addition, through ablations, we demonstrated that the proposed localization module can decrease the influence of normal tissues and therefore improve the generalization ability of the model. The weak semantic priors allow focusing on tumor regions to avoid missing small tumors and low-contrast tumors. The cross-scale correlation priors are beneficial for promoting the shape-aware ability for irregular tumors. V³H: View Variation and View Heredity for Incomplete Multiview Clustering

Real data often appear in the form of multiple incomplete views. Incomplete multiview clustering is an effective method to integrate these incomplete views. Previous methods only learn the consistent information between different views and ignore the unique information of each view, which limits their clustering performance and generalizations. To overcome this limitation, we propose a novel View Variation and View Heredity approach (V³H). Inspired by the variation and the heredity in genetics, V³H first decomposes each subspace into a variation matrix for the corresponding view and a heredity matrix for all the views to represent the unique information and the consistent information respectively. Then, by aligning different views based on their cluster indicator matrices, V³H integrates the unique information from different views to improve the clustering performance. Finally, with the help of the adjustable low-rank representation based on the heredity matrix, V³H recovers the underlying true data structure to reduce the influence of the large incompleteness. More importantly, V³H presents possibly the first work to introduce genetics to clustering algorithms for learning simultaneously the consistent information and the unique information from incomplete multiview data. Extensive experimental results on fifteen benchmark datasets validate its superiority over other state-of-the-arts. Impact Statement—Incomplete multiview clustering is a popular technology to cluster incomplete datasets from multiple sources. A better understanding of the methane (CH4) adsorption characteristic and microscopic mechanism on coal surface cannot be overemphasized for safe coal mining and high-efficiency coalbed methane (CBM) extraction. In this work, the atomistic representations of long flame coal, coking coal, and anthracite coal obtained from China were created, and the CH4 adsorption isotherms considering temperature, moisture contents, and microwave in-situ modification was simulated and analyzed. The influence law and mechanism of these parameters and modification on methane adsorption were quantitatively explored by methane adsorption heat. The results of molecular structure parameters showed that with the coal metamorphism degree increased from long flame coal to coking coal and anthracite coal, the functional groups in the molecular structure of the coal decreased while the degree of graphite increased. It is worth mentioning that the action of in-situ modification on coal facilitates this process. The saturation adsorption capacity of CH4 decreased and then increased with the increase of coal metamorphism degree, decreased linearly with the increase of temperature, and when water molecular was present, the adsorbed CH4 showed different degrees of decreasing trend with the increase of moisture content. The isosteric heat of CH4 adsorption is coking coal > anthracite coal > long flame coal, the isosteric heat gradually decreased with the increase of methane adsorption, and the presence of water molecules has a limited effect on the isosteric heat. The in-situ modification used in this experiment disrupted the self-conjugated hydrogen bonds on the coal surface, which reduced the oxygen-containing functional groups. Functional groups like methyl and methylene were broken off and released as gases, as a result, the aromatic carbon rate, aromaticity, and aromatic ring condensation increased, and the alkane side chain length and branching degree decreased. data augmentation is a powerful technique for improving the performance of the few-shot classification task. It generates more samples as supplements, and then this task can be transformed into a common supervised learning issue for solution. However, most mainstream data augmentation based approaches only consider the single modality information, which leads to the low diversity and quality of generated features. In this paper, we present a novel multi-modal data augmentation approach named Dizygotic Conditional Variational AutoEncoder (DCVAE) for addressing the aforementioned issue. DCVAE conducts feature synthesis via pairing two Conditional Variational AutoEncoders (CVAEs) with the same seed but different modality conditions in a dizygotic symbiosis manner. Subsequently, the generated features of two CVAEs are adaptively combined to yield the final feature, which can be converted back into its paired conditions while ensuring these conditions are consistent with the original conditions not only in representation but also in function. DCVAE essentially provides a new idea of data augmentation in various multi-modal scenarios by exploiting the complement of different modality prior information. Extensive experimental results demonstrate our work achieves state-of-the-art performances on miniImageNet, CIFAR-FS and CUB datasets, and is able to work well in the partial modality absence case. © 2021, CC BY-NC-SA.

Supervised learning has been widely used for attack categorization, requiring high-quality data and labels. However, the data is often imbalanced and it is difficult to obtain sufficient annotations. Moreover, supervised models are subject to real-world deployment issues, such as defending against unseen artificial attacks. To tackle the challenges, we propose a semi-supervised fine-grained attack categorization framework consisting of an encoder and a two-branch structure and this framework can be generalized to different supervised models. The multilayer perceptron with residual connection is used as the encoder to extract features and reduce the complexity. The Recurrent Prototype Module (RPM) is proposed to train the encoder effectively in a semi-supervised manner. To alleviate the data imbalance problem, we introduce the Weight-Task Consistency (WTC) into the iterative process of RPM by assigning larger weights to classes with fewer samples in the loss function. In addition, to cope with new attacks in real-world deployment, we propose an Active Adaption Resampling (AAR) method, which can better discover the distribution of unseen sample data and adapt the parameters of encoder. Experimental results show that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art semi-supervised attack detection methods with a 3% improvement in classification accuracy and a 90% reduction in training time. In the mobile network, user can share their trip stories at any time and place, the massive user data can provides an opportunity to mining users' travel preferences. Tourism recommendation has been studied by lots of researchers, although they took into account the social relation of users and the need of travelers, but if multi-dimensional social information and the seasonality of tourism service are considered, it may lead to better personality efficiency for tourism recommendation system. In this paper, we propose a novel personalized tourism service recommendation model termed GA-LSTM-CSInf, which fused multi-modality travel information include the multi-dimensional social information, time series and tourism service category. The main work is listed as follows:(1)we combined genetic algorithm (GA) and LSTM network for predicting the popularity and score of tourism service.(2) Considering the multi-dimensional social information of users in social networks, we proposed the Explicit Social Influence (ExSoInf) and the Implicit Social Influence (ImSoInf) of users, and then integrated them into SVD algorithm.(3) Calculating user preferences for tourism service categories using matrix factorization technology. And then, the calculation results of the three methods are weighted and summed to obtain a fusion tourism service recommendation algorithm (GA-LSTM-CSInf). We conduct a comprehensive performance evaluation for our fusion recommendation algorithm using real-world dataset collected from Yelp. Experimental results show that our method achieves significantly superior recommendation quality compared to other state of art recommendation methods. © 2019 IEEE.

Multi-Label Out-of-Distribution Detection Via Exploiting Sparsity and Co-Occurrence of Labels

Although Out-Of-Distribution (OOD) detection has been extensively studied, the OOD detection under multi-label settings, which is closer to the real world, is still in its infancy. The pioneer work ignores some unique properties of multi-label images, such as the sparsity and co-occurrence of labels. Here, we empirically observe that these properties readily distinguish OOD and in-distribution data. Motivated by this observation, we propose a novel multi-label OOD detection approach named Sparse Label Co-occurrence Scoring (SLCS) to exploit the sparsity and co-occurrence information of labels. SLCS follows conventions and deems the logits outputted by the penultimate layer of the trained multi-label image classification model as the prediction confidences of a sample to categories in the training label set. A logit sparse filtering process is employed to filter out the low-confidence logits for avoiding the interference of low-confidence predictions while preserving the high-confidence logits to obtain the label sparsity. Then, the label co-occurrence pairs are counted for each sample based on its predicted categories and the label co-occurrence matrix constructed on the training set. Finally, the preserved logits are weighted by the label co-occurrence information and accumulated to produce the OOD detection score for each sample. Extensive experimental results on three well-known multi-label image datasets demonstrate the discriminating power of SLCS, which achieves greatly improved performances compared with the only multi-label OOD detection approach - JointEnergry and the state-of-the-art single-label OOD detection approaches. Camouflaged object detection (COD) aims to identify the objects that conceal themselves in natural scenes. Accurate COD suffers from a number of challenges associated with low boundary contrast and the large variation of object appearances, e.g., object size and shape. To address these challenges, we propose a novel Context-aware Cross-level Fusion Network (C2F-Net), which fuses context-aware cross-level features for accurately identifying camouflaged objects. Specifically, we compute informative attention coefficients from multi-level features with our Attention-induced Cross-level Fusion Module (ACFM), which further integrates the features under the guidance of attention coefficients. We then propose a Dual-branch Global Context Module (DGCM) to refine the fused features for informative feature representations by exploiting rich global context information. Multiple ACFMs and DGCMs are integrated in a cascaded manner for generating a coarse prediction from high-level features. The coarse prediction acts as an attention map to refine the low-level features before passing them to our Camouflage Inference Module (CIM) to generate the final prediction. We perform extensive experiments on three widely used benchmark datasets and compare C2F-Net with state-of-the-art (SOTA) models. The results show that C2F-Net is an effective COD model and outperforms SOTA models remarkably. Further, an evaluation on polyp segmentation datasets demonstrates the promising potentials of our C2F-Net in COD downstream applications.
