Routing table size and route length are two key metrics for evaluating a routing scheme, and there is an obvious tradeoff between them, i.e. the space-stretch tradeoff. The generic shortest-path routing takes an extreme position by only optimizing the route length, hence the routing table size grows linearly with the network size. Compact routing refers to design of routing schemes with optimized space-stretch tradeoffs. The optimal universal compact routing scheme to date stores a O¿(n 1/2 ) routing table at each node with a stretch 3 for arbitrary networks. Researches on complex networks show that in most real-life networks the degree distribution exhibits a power law tail, i.e. a few nodes have a very high degree and many with low degree. The high-degree nodes play the important role of hubs in communication and networking. Aiming to achieve a better space-stretch tradeoff for routing in power law networks, we propose a high-degree landmark routing scheme. Through theoretical analysis on random power law graphs we show our scheme can almost surely provide a O¿(n 1/3 ) routing table at each node with a stretch 3. Simulations on random power law graphs and real Internet AS graph also show our scheme can outperform the optimal universal scheme.

This paper studied the synchronization of fractional-order chaotic system based on the theory of fractional calculus, and the synchronization between the two identical fractional-order Chen systems is realized after 0.6s by using the active control, and the simulation results verify the effectiveness of the examined method. Furthermore, the control scheme can be used in secure communication via the technology of chaotic masking. Numerical simulations coincide with the theoretical analysis. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

Global optimal web service selection model for multiple service requests

Web service selection based on quality of service (QoS) has been one of research focuses in service computing field. Current methods of service selection usually focus on a single service request or multiple service requests for co-selecting a shared service at a time, not considering the competitiveness among multiple independent service requests for the same functional Web services. A global optimal service selection model for multiple service requests, according to the matching degree (between service requests and Web services) and 0-1 integral programming, is proposed to solve the conflicts among service requests. A universal and feasible optimal service selection algorithm, named global optimal service selection for multiple requests (GOSSMR), is proposed to solve the model. Under the condition of meeting QoS requirements of service requests, too many requests selecting the same Web service at the same time can be avoided, thereby optimizing the service resources, avoiding the overload, and improving the performance of the system. The feasibility and effectiveness of the model and algorithm are verified by simulations in our work.

As the increasing numbers of various multi-functional Cloud services are rapidly evolving in the Cloud market, how to recommend ideal multi-functional services becomes a great challenge. Due to its simplicity and promising results, collaborative filtering has been one of the most dominant methods used in recommender systems. The fundamental assumption of collaborative filtering is that users rated items similarly will rate other items similarly. However, with regards to a multi-functional service, a user may only use one of the functions and give a post-rating. Such a rating emotionally expresses the user's preference on the function rather than on the whole service. Therefore, it is appropriate to measure similarity at the granularity of functions' ratings. In our proposed approach, each user's rating is assigned to a function according to the usage record. Then, a hybrid user-based and item-based collaborative filtering algorithm is used to recommend multi-functional services. Such approach is experimentally verified at the end of this paper.

College students are special because they relatively have tighter in economy but have greater consistency in leisure time. They prefer to go out together with schoolfellows due to higher trusts and closeness. Moreover, the electronic map is difficult to be updated. Campus-roads recently are updated rapidly. And many alleys in campuses are not shown in the electronic map. Therefore, we devise and implement a campus carpooling system based on GPS trajectories. It includes three parts. Firstly, the campus road network is extracted based on GPS trajectories. Next, the shortest sharing path in the campus is computed in terms of the campus road network. Then, passengers are matched automatically by the carpooling matching algorithm (CMA) in our system. Experiments show that our system is able to provide a safer and more comfortable carpooling experience for college students. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The research of health information integration is one of the hot topics in health information systems. Plenty of heterogeneous legacy systems exist in hospitals now due to many reasons. This leads to new problems that the communication among these systems is very difficult. It becomes a challenge for achieving a total-integrated health information system solution. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a health information integration platform based on Service- Oriented Architecture and Web services. An integrated client, which employs the data redirection techniques in operating systems and is called the universal healthinformation integration component, is developed. A real case study is used to show the design and implementation details as well as the valid integration among the heterogeneous system we have obtained.

The applications of instance-intensive workflow are widely used in e-commerce, advanced manufacturing, etc. However, existing studies normally do not consider the problem of reducing energy consumption by utilizing the characters of instance-intensive workflow applications. This paper presents a resource usage Prediction-based Energy-Aware scheduling algorithm, named PEA. Technically, this method improves the energy efficiency of instance-intensive cloud workflow by predicting resources utilization and the strategies of batch processing and load balancing. The efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm are validated by extensive experiments. © 2019, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

We propose a novel video integration architecture, INTERVIDEO, for faceted search on web-scale. First, we demonstrate that the traditional video integration techniques are no longer valid in face of such heterogeneity and scale. Then, we present three new integrating techniques to build a global relation schema for organizing web videos and aiding user to retrieve faceted results. Finally, we conduct an experimental study and demonstrate the ability of our system to automatically integrate videos and build a complete and concise high-level relation schema on large, heterogeneous web sites. © 2010 IFIP.

Cruising route recommendation based on trajectory mining can improve taxi-drivers'income and reduce energy ***,existing methods mostly recommend pick-up points for taxis ***,their performance is not good enough since there lacks a good evaluation model for the pick-up ***,we propose an entropy-based model for recommendation of taxis'cruising ***,we select more positional attributes from historical pick-up points in order to obtain accurate spatial-temporal ***,the information entropy of spatial-temporal features is integrated in the evaluation *** it is applied for getting the next pick-up points and further recommending a series of successive *** points are constructed a cruising route for *** results show that our method is able to obviously improve the recommendation accuracy of pick-up points,and help taxi-drivers make profitable benefits more than before.

Constructing method for Web services implicit relationship graph

To solve the adaptive invoking problem of Web service implicit relationship, a constructing method for Web services implicit relationship graph from the perspectives of the invoking logics was proposed. In this method, Web service was simplified as a tri-tuple. The triple relationships corresponding to a set of Web services were decomposed into two types of binary relationships: output patterns set and input pattern set. Services links were the edges of Web services implicit relationship graph and was the result from the linking operation of output patterns set and input pattern set. Algorithms of constructing the pattern set and Web services implicit relationship graph were put forward. The effectiveness of the proposed method was verified by experiment.
