We in this paper present the model for our participation (BCMI) in the CoNLL-2012 Shared Task. This paper describes a pure rule-based method, which assembles different filters in a proper order. Different filters handle different situations and the filtering strategies are designed manually. These filters are assigned to different ordered tiers from general to special cases. We participated in the Chinese and English closed tracks, scored 51.83 and 59.24 respectively.

This paper describes our coreference resolution system for the CoNLL-2012 shared task. Our system is based on the Stanford's dcore-f deterministic system which applies multiple sieves with the order from high precision to low precision to generate coreference chains. We introduce the newly added constraints and sieves and discuss the improvement on the o-riginal system. We evaluate the system using OntoNotes data set and report our results of average F-score 58.25 in the closed track.

In this study, we investigate the break index labeling problem with a syntactic-to-prosodic structure conversion. The statistical relationship between the mapped syntactic tree structure and prosodic tree structure of sentences in the training set is used to generate a Synchronous Tree Substitution Grammar (STSG) which can describe the probabilistic mapping (substitution) rules between them. For a given test sentence and the corresponding parsed syntactic tree structure, thus generated STSG can convert the syntactic tree to a prosodic tree statistically. We compare the labeling results with other approaches and show the probabilistic mapping can indeed benefit break index labeling performance.

Nowadays, the cloud computing owners lack management and monitoring tools to ensure the performance, robustness, dependability, and security. To address this limitation, this paper described our experience with a lightweight monitoring framework using some extra development work. This framework performed end-to-end measurements at virtual machine instances and software in the public cloud. It monitors quality of service parameters of the IaaS and SaaS layer without modifying the implementation of the monitored object. In addition, we discussed the manager-agent and module-centralized architecture in details. All the modules make up the entire proposed framework to improve the performance of applications in public clouds.

In-network data aggregation is an effective technique to reduce communication cost in wireless sensor networks. Recent works have focused on two issues individually: dynamic aggregation to handle irregular traffic of events and robust aggregation to tolerate packet losses. However, how to achieve both the objectives simultaneously is still not touched. In this paper, we propose a cross-layer approach to robust and dynamic data aggregation by making use of direct support from MAC layer. A new MAC protocol, DA-MAC is delicately designed to serve such purpose. Based on the channel contention information obtained from DA-MAC, a node can dynamically determine where and when to do aggregation. To cope with packet losses, a virtual overlay, Rings is adopted to forward one packet to multiple nodes. We have implemented our design in TinyOS based sensor networks. Performance evaluations though simulations and experiments show that, compared with existing algorithms, our proposed solution is more efficient in terms of both time and energy cost.

Computer network technology has been growing explosively and the multicast technology has become a hot Internet research topic. The main goal of multicast routing algorithm is seeking a minimum cost multicast tree in a given network, also known as the Steiner tree problem, which is a classical NP-Complete problem. We measure the multicast capability of each node through the degree-constraint for each node and discuss the problem of multicast in the case of degree-constraint, which has an important significance in the communication network. Limiting the capacity of each node during the replication process of information transmission can improve the speed of the network, which has an important significance in real-time service. In this paper, we solve constrained multicast routing algorithm based on genetic algorithm. The idea is to simulate the Darwinian theory of biological evolution. At the same time, we improve the generating random tree and replace the variation by the combination of the two variations. On one hand, we improve the efficiency of generating random tree and on the other hand, we can control the mutation of different variations in a more flexible manner.

Introduce the basic concept of best rational approximation and constructing procedure of the best rational approximation function in Laplace domain. By an illustrative example the design method of FOC based on best rational approximation is discussed. The performance comparison of transfer functions between the FOC obtained by best rational approximation method and conventional PID shows that it is effective to apply the method in design of FOC, which can guarantee maximum absolute error of amplitude frequency characteristic of approximation function in a given error tolerance.
