Inspired by the division of labor and migration behavior in nature, this paper proposes a novel particle swarm optimization algorithm with multiple learning strategies (PSO-MLS). In the algorithm, particles are divided into three sub-swarms randomly while three learning strategies with different motivations are applied to each sub-swarm respectively. The Traditional Learning Strategy (TLS) inherits the basic operations of PSO to guarantee the stability. Then a Periodically Stochastic Learning Strategy (PSLS) employs a random learning vector to increase the diversity so as to enhance the global search ability. A Random Mutation Learning Strategy (RMLS) adopts mutation to enable particles to jump out of local optima when trapped. Besides, information migration is applied within the intercommunication of sub-swarms. After a certain number of generations, sub-swarms would aggregate to continue search, aiming at global convergence. Through these learning strategies and swarm aggregation, PSO-MLS possesses both good exploration and exploitation abilities. PSO-MLS was tested on a set of benchmarks and the result shows its superiority to gain higher accuracy for unimodal functions and better solution quality for multimodal functions when compared to some PSO variants.

At present, the scale of quantum computers in the real sense is still small, and quantum simulation has become one of the important ways of quantum theory research, grover quantum search algorithm is suitable for the search problem of disordered database. Firstly, according to the implementation principle of Grover algorithm and Boolean logic relationship, the design idea of multi-objective Oracle is analyzed, based on IBMQ quantum cloud platform, the quantum circuit of Grover algorithm with multi-objective items is simulated. Based on the characteristics of Grover algorithm and the simulation process of quantum gate, the action of multiple identical quantum gates is combined to reduce the update times of probability amplitude and improve the simulation efficiency. The libquantum quantum simulator is used for experiments and the target item is successfully searched, which proves the feasibility of the optimization method and provides reference for the simulation and optimization of other quantum algorithms. © 2022 Association for computing machinery.

The goal of multilingual modelling is to generate multilingual text representations for various downstream tasks in different languages. However, some state-of-the-art pre-trained multilingual models perform poorly on many low-resource languages due to the lack of representation space and model capacity. To alleviate this issue, we propose a Multilingual model Enhanced with Visual Text Representations (MEVTR), which complements textual representations and extends the multilingual representation space with visual text representations. First, the visual encoder focuses on the glyphs and structure of the text to obtain visual text representations, and the textual encoder obtains textual representations. Then, multilingual representations are enhanced by aligning and fusing visual text representations and textual representations. Moreover, we propose similarity constraint, a self-supervised task to prompt the visual encoder to focus on more additional information. Prefix alignment and multi-head bilinear module are designed to acquire an improved integration effect of visual text representations and textual representations. Experimental results indicate that MEVTR benefits from visual text representations and achieves significant performance gains in downstream tasks. In particular, in the zero-shot cross-lingual transfer task, MEVTR achieves results that outperform the state-of-the-art adapter-based framework without the target language adapter. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

Precise prediction of anti-cancer drug responses has become a crucial obstruction in anti-cancer drug design and clinical applications. In recent years, various deep learning methods have been applied to drug response prediction and become more accurate. However, they are still criticized as being non-transparent. To offer reliable drug response prediction in real-world applications, there is still a pressing demand to develop a model with high predictive performance as well as interpretability. In this study, we propose DrugVNN, an end-to-end interpretable drug response prediction framework, which extracts gene features of cell lines through a knowledge-guided visible neural network (VNN) and learns drug representation through a node-edge communicative message passing network (CMPNN). Additionally, between these two networks, a novel drug-aware gene attention gate is designed to direct the drug representation to VNN to simulate the effects of drugs. By evaluating on the GDSC dataset, DrugVNN achieved state-of-the-art performance. Moreover, DrugVNN can identify active genes and relevant signaling pathways for specific drug-cell line pairs with supporting evidence in the literature, implying the interpretability of our model. © 2024 IEEE.

Traditional image emotion recognition focuses only on the emotion information embedded in the subject or part of the image, while ignoring the global emotion information. In this paper, we propose a new network based on Vision Transformer: a global perception network, containing a main module and a background module. The main module enhances the weighting of objects by showing the interdependencies between modelled channels. The background module further searches for emotional information in the background. In addition, we employ multi-task learning and Adaptive Gradient Clipping to improve the network. Extensive experiments show that our proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods for image sentiment analysis. © 2023 IEEE.

Over the years, energy time series forecasting has been widely studied and has played an important role in various fields, such as electric energy forecasting, solar energy forecasting, etc. In energy time series forecasting, it is crucial to building forecasting models for long series in order to obtain accurate forecasting results. Since the use of long series can cause the accuracy of the model to decrease. In this paper, we propose a deep learning model (TCNTA-BiGRU) based on a bi-directional gated cyclic unit (BiGRU) with a temporal attention mechanism to address the problem of accuracy degradation in long sequence tasks. First, in order to capture long-term dependencies, this paper divide the dataset and input it into a temporal convolutional network (TCN) to transform long sequences into multiple short sequences, which not only solves the problem that to cause gradient explosion or disappearance when processing long sequences, but also reduces the spatial complexity. Then, BiGRU is used to learn historical and future information and capture more short-term dependencies. Moreover, in order to enhance the model's ability to focus on data periodicity, a temporal attention mechanism is introduced. Additionally the autoregressive module is used to increase the linear fitting ability of the model. The model proposed in this paper is applied to the Electricity and Solar Energy datasets and the results show a better performance relate to existing deep learning models. © 2021 IEEE.

Cloud computing resources scheduling is significant for executing the workflows in cloud platform because it relates to both the execution time and execution cost. In order to take both the time and cost into consideration, Rodriguez and Buyya have proposed a cost-minimization and deadline-constrained workflow scheduling model on cloud computing. Their model has great applicability but the solution of their particle swarm optimization (PSO) approach is not good enough and cannot meet a tight deadline condition. In this paper, we propose a genetic algorithm (GA) approach to solve this model. In order to tackle with the tight deadline condition, a dynamic objective strategy is further proposed to let GA focus on optimize the execution time objective to meet the deadline constraint when the feasible solution hasn't been obtained. After obtaining a feasible solution, the GA focuses on optimizing the execution cost within the deadline constraint. Therefore, the proposed dynamic objective GA (DOGA) has adaptive ability to the search environment to different objectives. We have conduct extensive experiments based on workflows with different scales and different cloud resources. Experimental results show that DOGA can find better solution with smaller cost than PSO does on different scheduling scales and different deadline conditions. DOGA approach is more applicable to be used in commercial activities. © 2015 IEEE.

IIDM: Image-to-Image Diffusion Model for Semantic Image Synthesis

Semantic image synthesis aims to generate high-quality images given semantic conditions, i.e. segmentation masks and style reference images. Existing methods widely adopt generative adversarial networks (GANs). GANs take all conditional inputs and directly synthesize images in a single forward step. In this paper, semantic image synthesis is treated as an image denoising task and is handled with a novel image-to-image diffusion model (IIDM). Specifically, the style reference is first contaminated with random noise and then progressively denoised by IIDM, guided by segmentation masks. Moreover, three techniques, refinement, color-transfer and model ensembles, are proposed to further boost the generation quality. They are plug-in inference modules and do not require additional training. Extensive experiments show that our IIDM outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods by clear margins. Further analysis is provided via detailed demonstrations. It is difficult and expensive to obtain labels for image semantic segmentation tasks. This has led to more and more researches focusing on weakly supervised semantic segmentation (WSSS) with image-level labels and the class activation maps (CAM) is often used to locate objects. The performance of WSSS methods largely depends on the accuracy of the generated CAMs, but current methods can only perform rough localization, especially cannot fit CAM to the object's edge well. Therefore, we propose the Edge Enhancement Network (EEN), which uses the shallow features of the network to enhance edge information. This allows us to obtain more accurate CAMs that fit the edges only through image-level labels. It greatly improves the accuracy of pseudo ground truth and easily reaches the level of current mainstream methods. After many experiments, it has reached 67.0% mIoU on the Pascal VOC2012 validation set, which exceeds the latest method under the same training settings. © 2021 IEEE

In this paper, a new type of Euler-precision 3-node g-proportional (3NgP) formula is proposed and investigated in the general framework of Zhang discretization (ZD), which is named formula ZD3NgPZ with subtype Z corresponding to the second (as well as student) coauthor. By Taylor expansion, we prove that formula ZD3NgPZ approximating the fst-order derivative can achieve an error pattern of O(g). Numerical experiments of approximation are conducted to show the efficacy of the formula. In the meanwhile, formula ZD3NgPZ is used in the discrete control and simulation of agitation tank system. Finally, numerical experiments of discretization are conducted and analyzed to illustrate the efficacy and accuracy of formula ZD3NgPZ applied to agitation tank system. © 2017 IEEE.
