Efficient surrogate-based optimization method and application based on collaborative improvement aggregation strategy

To address the problem that greedy characteristics lead to slow convergence and low accuracy problems of surrogate-based optimization solutions in the later stage, a collaborative improvement aggregation strategy is proposed, which is extended to an efficient surrogate-based optimization method for expensive black-box problems. The proposed strategy integrates probability improvement and mean improvement criteria using Chebyshev decomposition and achieves a balance between global exploration and local search capabilities through random weight coefficients. In addition, the differences between surrogate-based optimization and surrogate-assisted optimization methods are analyzed from the perspective of candidate point sets, further exploring the role of randomness in optimization design. The experimental results show that this method can effectively improve the convergence accuracy of the optimized solution in black-box problems. Compared with similar techniques, the proposed method has higher convergence accuracy and stronger robustness of optimized solutions. © 2025 Northeast University. All rights reserved.

Hand Gesture Recognition from an Open-Set Perspective

Existing hand gesture recognition methods predominantly rely on a close-set assumption, which in essence limits the viewpoints, gesture categories, and hand shapes at test time to closely resemble those seen during training. This requirement is however rarely met in practice, as images are often captured from unconstrained viewpoints, with novel gestures and unseen hand shapes that can differ significantly from the training data. This motivates us to investigate an open-set hand gesture recognition problem, where hand gestures are still recognizable from unconstrained viewpoints, and novel gesture classes and hand shapes can be incrementally learned with just a few examples. To address this, we propose a viewpoint influence elimination network that extracts view-independent features, significantly improving performance in scenarios with unconstrained viewpoints. Moreover, a joint-weighted classification scheme is introduced to augment the cosine similarity metric for evaluating few-shot incremental learning of novel gestures and shapes. Finally, as existing hand gesture recognition datasets primarily adhere to the close-set assumption, a new hand gesture recognition dataset, OHG, is introduced in this paper, that includes a wide range of viewpoints, diverse gesture classes, and distinct hand shapes. Experimental hand gesture recognition results demonstrate the superior performance of our approach in both unconstrained viewpoint and few-shot incremental learning scenarios. Task Assignment Scheme Designed for Online Urban Sensing Based on Sparse Mobile Crowdsensing

Sparse mobile crowdsensing (SMCS) achieves urban-scale environmental sensing by assigning tasks to workers in specific subareas and inferring global data from the collected information. However, the effectiveness of SMCS is often limited because many studies overlook workers’ mobility and data collection time during subarea selection, as well as the time constraints of the sensing cycle in task assignment. This may affect the task completion timeliness and data quality. To address these issues, we develop a subarea evaluation method based on deep reinforcement learning, considering both the temporal effectiveness of sensing tasks and the importance of subarea selection for data inference. Using the subarea evaluation values derived from this method, we establish an online urban sensing task assignment model which is subject to constraints of sensing cycle time and cost budget. This model aims to find the task assignment result that minimizes data inference error by maximizing the comprehensive utility value. Considering the characteristics of the task assignment model, we propose an evolutionary algorithm named OTA-EA, which is based on an improved genetic algorithm. Its enhanced evolutionary operators can avoid generating infeasible solutions while maintaining robust search and optimization performance. Lastly, we conduct experimental evaluations of these methods on the real-world datasets. The results demonstrate that our subarea evaluation method can significantly reduce the data inference error, and our evolutionary task assignment algorithm can achieve better task assignment results than the baseline algorithms.

Improved Rao-Blackwellized particle filter for simultaneous robot localization and person-tracking with single mobile sensor

A probabilistic algorithm is proposed for the problem of simultaneous robot localization and peopletracking （SLAP） using single onboard sensor in situations with sensor noise and global uncertainties over the observer＇s pose. By the decomposition of the joint distribution according to the Rao-Blackwell theorem, posteriors of the robot pose are sequentially estimated over time by a smoothed laser perception model and an improved resampling scheme with evolution strategies; the conditional distribution of the person＇s position is estimated using unscented Kalman filter （UKF） to deal with the nonlinear dynamic of human motion. Experiments conducted in a real indoor service robot scenario validate the favorable performance of the positional accuracy as well as the improved computational efficiency.

In this paper the distributed asymptotic consensus problem is addressed for a group of high-order nonaffine agents with uncertain dynamics,nonvanishing disturbances and unknown control directions under directed networks.A class of auxiliary variables are first introduced which forms second-order filters and induces all measurable signals of agents’*** view of this property,a distributed robust integral of the sign of the error(DRISE)design combined with the Nussbaum-type function is presented that guarantees not only the desired asymptotic consensus,but also the uniform boundedness of all closed-loop *** with the traditional sliding mode control(SMC)technique,the main feature of our approach is that the integral operation in the proposed control algorithm is designed to be adopted in a continuous manner and ensures less chattering *** results for a group of Duffing-Holmes chaotic systems are employed to verify our theoretical analysis.

In this paper, the exponential stability analysis for ODE switched systems with time delay is extended to distributed parameter switched systems(DPSS) in Hilbert space. For a given family of exponential stable subsystems, this paper focuses on finding conditions to guarantee the overall DPSS' exponential stability. Based on semigroup theory, by applying piecewise Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals method incorporated average dwell time approach, sufficient conditions for exponential stability are derived. These conditions are given in the form of linear operator inequalities(LOIs)where the decision variables are operators in Hilbert space, and the stability properties depend on switching rule. Being applied to heat switched propagation equations, these LOIs are reduced to standard Linear Matrix Inequalities(LMIs). Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed result.

The fluxgate sensor is the most widely used sensor in vector magnetic measurement. However, during long-term continuous observation, the fluxgate sensor will produce large measurement errors due to changes in ambient temperature. This paper proposes a temperature calibration method for the fluxgate sensor based on polynomial fitting to address the temperature error of fluxgate sensors. First, the effect of temperature on the performance indicators of the fluxgate sensor was analyzed. Second, according to the existing temperature-magnetic field data, a temperature calibration model of the fluxgate sensor was constructed. Compared with other temperature calibration methods, the result shows that the proposed temperature calibration method is relatively simple and can better achieve real-time calibration for sensor application scenarios. Finally, to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, numerous laboratory experiments were implemented. The temperature drift was reduced from about 700 nT before calibration to about 1 nT, root mean square error RMSE = 11.7189, indicating that the proposed method has a good temperature calibration effect on the data measured by the fluxgate sensor within the variable temperature background. © Fuji Technology Press Ltd.

Payoff-based accumulative effect promotes cooperation in spatial prisoner’s dilemma

We study the effect of accumulative payoff on the evolution of cooperation in the evolutionary prisoner＇s dilemma on a square lattice. We introduce a decaying factor for the accumulative payoff, which characterizes the extent that the historical payoff is accumulated. It is shown that for fixed values of the temptation to defect, the density of cooperators increases with the value of the decaying factor. This indicates that the more the historical payoff is involved, the more favourable cooperators become. In the critical region where the cooperator density converges to zero, cooperators vanish according to a power-law-like behaviour. The associated exponents agree approximately with the two-dimensional directed percolation and depend weakly on the value of the decaying factor.

Evolutionary prisoner's dilemma game on highly clustered community networks

This paper studies the evolutionary prisoner＇s dilemma game on a highly clustered community network in which the clustering coefficient and the community size can be tuned. It finds that the clustering coefficient in such a degree-homogeneous network inhibits the emergence of cooperation for the entire range of the payoff parameter. Moreover, it finds that the community size can also have a marked influence on the evolution of cooperation, with a larger community size leading to not only a lower cooperation level but also a smaller threshold of the payoff parameter above which cooperators become extinct.

A Model-Based Unmatched Disturbance Rejection control Approach for Speed Regulation of a Converter-Driven DC Motor Using Output-Feedback

The speed regulation problem with only speed measurement is investigated in this paper for a permanent magnet direct current(DC)motor driven by a buck *** lumping all unknown matched/unmatched disturbances and uncertainties together,the traditional active disturbance rejection control(ADRC)approach provides an intuitive solution for the problem under ***,for such a higher-order disturbed system,the increase of poles for the extended state observer(ESO)therein will lead to drastically growth of observer gains,which causes severe noise *** paper aims to propose a new model-based disturbance rejection controller for the converter-driven DC motor system using *** of estimating lumped disturbances directly,a new observer is constructed to estimate the desired steady state of control signal as well as errors between the real states and their desired steady-state ***,a controller with only speed measurement is proposed by utilizing the *** performance of the proposed method is tested through experiments on *** is further shown via numerical calculations and experimental results that the poles of the observer within the proposed control approach can be largely increased without significantly increasing magnitude of the observer gains.
