Hybrid Electromagnetic Modelling of Tubular Permanent Magnet Linear Motors Based on Transfer Learning Physics-Informed Neural Networks

Due to the inherent nonlinearity and saturation in the magnetic circuits of tubular permanent magnet linear motors, the analytical method (AM), while computationally efficient, often fails to capture complex electromagnetic behaviours accurately. In contrast, the finite element analysis (FEA) offers high precision but is time consuming. The nonlinearity of magnetic materials introduces strong input–output coupling, while saturation leads to localised deviations in field distributions, both of which reduce the effectiveness and generalisability of conventional modelling approaches. To overcome these challenges, a physics-informed, data-driven modelling approach is proposed. Initially, a novel hybrid modelling framework based on physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) is introduced. In this framework, AM is incorporated into both the input-output layers and the relevant variables, thereby enabling the direct embedding of physical constraints into the loss function. Consequently, the network's training process is rigorously guided in accordance with established physical principles. To further enhance prediction accuracy and generalisation, a transfer learning framework is integrated into PINN, utilising pre-trained datasets from AM and fine-tuning the model using high-accuracy datasets derived from FEA. Additionally, to optimise the physical information-related hyperparameters that impact model accuracy, functional analysis of variance is employed to quantitatively assess their importance and determine the optimal hyperparameter values. Experimental results show that, with training sample sizes representing only 5% of the FEA data, TL-PINN achieves significant improvements over DNN, including a 74.25% reduction in (1 − R 2 ), a 49.51% reduction in RMSE, and a 50.46% reduction in MAE. These findings demonstrate that TL-PINN delivers superior accuracy while utilising substantially fewer FEA datasets.

Knowledge graphs (KGs) serve as useful resources for various applications including machine learning, data mining, and artificial intelligence. Knowledge Graph Completion (KGC) aims at reasoning over known (observed) facts and infer the missing (unobserved) relationships, to improve KG's coverage. Many recent works have laid stress on leveraging Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs) for KGC task, which obtain good representation learning ability for graph-structured data, and have achieved satisfactory results. However, GCN-based researches continue to improve these lines of models by introducing an increasingly complex feature space. Especially, the hyper-parameter space of conventional GCN-based KGC model is too huge, resulting in low computational efficiency and excessive storage pressure. To overcome this problem, this paper investigates a simplified and generic variant for GCN-based KGC model, and shows that simple changes in the architecture of the underlying architecture (with a Subtraction Operator and an Addition Operator), can compte with state-of-the-art GCN-based models. Therefore, this paper proposes a easy-to-accomplish plug-in unit, which could be loaded into any current GCN-based KGC architectures, and help them maximize the maintenance of native model's original performance while significantly reducing parameter scale.

Active reconfigurable intelligent surface (ARIS) is a promising way to compensate for multiplicative fading attenuation by amplifying and reflecting event signals to selected users. This paper investigates the performance of ARIS assisted non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks over cascaded Nakagami-m fading channels. The effects of hardware impairments (HIS) and reflection coefficients on ARIS-NOMA networks with imperfect successive interference cancellation (ipSIC) and perfect successive interference cancellation (pSIC) are considered. More specifically, we develop new precise and asymptotic expressions of outage probability and ergodic data rate with ipSIC/pSIC for ARIS-NOMA-HIS networks. According to the approximated analyses, the diversity orders and multiplexing gains for couple of non-orthogonal users are attained in detail. Additionally, the energy efficiency of ARIS-NOMA-HIS networks is surveyed in delay-limited and delay-tolerant transmission schemes. The simulation findings are presented to demonstrate that: i) The outage behaviors and ergodic data rates of ARIS-NOMA-HIS networks precede that of ARIS aided orthogonal multiple access (OMA) and passive reconfigurable intelligent surface (PRIS) aided OMA;ii) As the reflection coefficient of ARIS increases, ARIS-NOMA-HIS networks have the ability to provide the strengthened outage performance;and iii) ARIS-NOMA-HIS networks are more energy efficient than ARIS/PRIS-OMA networks and conventional cooperative schemes. A novel maximum power-point tracking approach is proposed based on studies investigating the output characteristics of photovoltaic(PV)systems under partial shading *** existence of partially shaded conditions leads to the presence of several peaks on PV curves,which decrease the efficiency of conventional ***,the proposed algorithm,which is based on the modified particle-swarm optimization(MPSO)technique,increases the output power of PV systems under such abnormal conditions and has a better performance compared to other *** proposed method is examined under several scenarios for partial shading condition and non-uniform irradiation levels using Matlab,and to investigate its effectiveness adequately,the results of the proposed method are compared with those of the neural network *** experimental results show that the proposed method can decrease the interference of the local maximum power-point to cause the PV system to operate at a global maximum *** efficiency of the MPSO is achieved with the least number of steady-state oscillations under partial shading conditions compared with the neural network method.

As circuits continue to miniaturize, noise has become a significant obstacle to performance optimization. Stochastic resonance in logic circuits offers an innovative approach to harness noise constructively;however, current implementations are limited to basic logical functions such as OR, AND, NOR, and NAND, restricting broader applications. This paper introduces a three-dimensional (3D) coupling model to investigate the counterintuitive phenomena that arise in nonlinear systems under noise. Compared to the one-dimensional Langevin equation and the two-dimensional Duffing equation, the 3D coupling model features more adjustable parameters and coupling interactions, enhancing the system's dynamic behavior. The study demonstrates that increasing noise intensity triggers reverse aperiodic resonance, leading to signal phase reversal and amplitude amplification. This phenomenon is attributed to the motion of Brownian particles in a bistable potential well. Additionally, reverse aperiodic resonance addresses the lack of logical negation in traditional stochastic resonance systems by introducing noise-driven phase reversal, providing a novel alternative to conventional inverters. © 2024, CC BY.

This study studies the height and attitude tracking control problem of an unmanned helicopter system with disturbances. A composite controller based on the combination of harmonic disturbance observers and backstepping technique is proposed to achieve asymptotic tracking for height and attitude. Firstly, harmonic disturbance observers (HDOB) are designed to estimate the unknown disturbances affecting each channel. Then, a composite controller is proposed by integrating the backstepping control technique and the HDOB technique together to achieve the height and attitude tracking goal. Stability analysis of the closed-loop system is given. Accurate identification and position of transmission lines is critical for robots to safely and effectively perform distribution network operations. However, such tasks are often challenged by complex lighting conditions, where depth information can be easily lost. Transmission lines have limited texture features and reflective surfaces, making it difficult to match image feature points. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a visual perception system for weak texture targets under complex lighting, based on an “eye-on-hand” configuration and a depth complementation algorithm. Furthermore, a high-precision identification and localization method for transmission line grasping points is developed, utilizing the fusion of binocular visual color maps and depth maps. The proposed method has been shown to effectively solve the problem of identifying and localizing the grasping points of transmission lines under complex lighting conditions. Experiments demonstrated that the method can improve the localization accuracy to within $\pm 4\text{mm}$ , outperforming other algorithms. The method is characterized as simple and efficient, and it enhances the environmental adaptability of distribution network robots.

Lithium extraction is a great challenge from the high magnesium content salt solution. In this work, an integrated polyamide tight ultrafiltration (UF) and nanofiltration (NF) membranes are systematically investigated to separate Li+ from a high magnesium salt solution. Tight ultrafiltration UA001 and nanofiltration NF270 membranes in the integrated-cascade system not only increased Li+ permeation to 82.5% but also enhanced the high Mg2+ retention to 94.6% from the ternary salt solution of LiCl and MgCl2. The transport model was also developed to calculate the real retention of Li+ and Mg2+, under constant pressure mode. The separation efficiency SFLi/Mg for the ternary salt solution of LiCl+MgCl2+H2O was more than 15 at a constant pressure of 25 bars with an integrated membrane process, which was higher as compared to single-stage UF and NF270 membranes. Moreover, the high Mg2+/Li+ ratio was also reduced from 30 to 1.9 in the integrated-cascade membrane process. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The growing demands of lithium-ion batteries with high energy density motivate the development of high-capacity electrode materials. The critical issue in the commercial application of these electrodes is electrochemomechanical degradation accompanied with the large volume change, built-in stress, and fracture during lithiation and delithiation. The strong and complex couplings between mechanics and electrochemistry have been extensively studied in recent years. The multi-directional couplings, e.g.,(de)lithiation-induced effects and stress-regulated effects, require cooperation in the interdisciplinary fields and advance the theoretical and computational models. In this review, we focus on the recent work with topics in the electrochemomechanical couplings of deformation and fracture of conventional and alloying electrodes through experimental characterization, theoretical and computational models. Based on the point of view from mechanics, the strategies for alleviating the degradation are also discussed, with particular perspectives for component-interaction patterns in the composite electrodes. With interdisciplinary principles, comprehensive understanding of the electrochemomechanical coupled mechanism is expected to provide feasible solutions for low-cost, high-capacity, high-safety and durable electrodes for lithium-ion batteries.

The development of Cu ion-exchanged small-pore zeolites with excellent performance and high hydrothermal stability in NH3-SCR reaction is of great importance. However, many frameworks of the small-pore zeolites are Al-rich, for instance, Cu-SSZ-16 zeolite with Si/Al ratio always no more than 5, showing relatively low hydrothermal stability. In this work, inspired by theoretical calculation for the interaction between organic structural directing agents (OSDAs) and zeolite framework, high silica SSZ-16 zeolite with Si/Al ratio at 6.7 was directly synthesized using an economical diquaternary alkylammonium cation as an OSDA. After exchanged with Cu ion, the Cu-SSZ-16 catalyst shows extraordinarily superior performance in NH3-SCR reaction even after hydrothermal aging at 900 °C. The designed synthesis combined with excellent performance as well as high hydrothermal stability of the high silica SSZ-16 zeolite might provide an attractive alternative candidate for NH3-SCR catalyst on diesel vehicles and non-road mobile machinery in the future. © 2023, The Authors.
