Unit-level modelling for KPI of batch hot strip mill process using dynamic partial least squares

This paper proposes two different approaches to the problem of modelling the key performance indicators (KPIs) in a hot strip mill process (HSMP). The first approach takes into consideration the inherent dynamics of the process and develops a nonlinear iterative dynamic partial least squares (PLS) model. The second approach takes into consideration the multibatch property of HSMP to develop an appropriate multibatch modelling framework. Both approaches can be integrated into the dynamic model framework. The proposed framework is examined using industrial data obtained from a steel plant, where it provides a decent model for this process. However, there exists the potential for improvements including dealing with interbatch variability. © 2015, IF AC (International Federation of Automatic control) Hosting by Elsevier Ltd. An object often has many distinct manifestations in computer vision, which brings a great challenge to utilizing more comprehensive information. Inspired by some biological researches about edge sensitivity and global structure priority, our key insight is to establish unified transfer classification network with shared contour information. Combining two convolutional networks with three cascaded filters, we build a unified kernel SVM classifier based on shared contour features. Two convolutional networks are used for acquiring the contour information of objects exactly. Obtained by three cascaded filters, shared edge features are used by a unified kernels SVM classifier. Our transfer classification network (TCN) is trained and tested with distinct manifestations including real photos (imagenet dataset or cifar-10 dataset) and cartoon abstracts. The model is able to extract robust contour features and achieve considerable transfer recognition accuracy (40% relative improvement to some popular convolutional models).

By taking NACA0015 airfoil as an example, we study synthetic jets' effect on the aerodynamic performance, then propose the ideas and concrete methods of using synthetic jet to flight roll control at high angle of attack, which replaces the traditional aileron completely. According to the influence by the peak velocity, frequency, layout position, exit angles of synthetic jets and the angle of attack on lift, the optimal parameter combination was obtained. Based on the optimal parameter combination we provided a scheme that uses peak velocity of synthetic jet as the input. We also designed a synthetic jet controller for flight roll control at high angle of attack, which adopts the Robust LQR method to realize the stability control of roll (57.3 deg) at high angle of attack (18 deg). The simulation shows that the proposed control method has good control performance, and it overcomes the difficulty of using traditional aileron for flight roll control at high angle of attack. © 2015 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

This paper provides a new improved multidisciplinary optimization algorithm with better performance and discusses its application for aircraft synthetic design. The new iterative framework combines linear quadratic (LQ) optimal control method, structures, aerodynamics and propulsion to design synthetic optimal problem, which reduces redundant system analysis, avoids local optimization, and improves the traditional design method which separated aerodynamic design and control method. Using the method of diagonal convergence, improved algorithm can accelerate the convergence speed and ensure that the sensitivity matrix does not tend to be singular. The simulation shows that this new closed-loop integrated method can achieve stable flight optimization results. © 2015 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

This paper presents an imaging method for 360-degree panoramic view based on four wide angle cameras. In order to complete the image mosaic, all the parameters such as focal length, principal point and distortion coefficients, etc are calibrated by our proposed calibration toolbox. Then, our approach does not adopt the scheme which stitching all the images to the surrounding view after distortion correction. The proposed method directly calculates the mapping relationship between the wide-angle lens images and cylindrical projection images to generate lookup tables which can greatly simplifies the computation and reduces the loss of information in each image. Finally, panoramic image is composed by image registration and image fusion. Experimental results show that this method is valid. © 2015 IEEE.

Based on the rate control method of the wind power fluctuation, this paper proposes an adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) based method to optimize the power of battery energy storage systems (BESS) adaptively. On the one hand, this method can be used to adjust the unstable wind and BESS hybrid power output so as to satisfy the requirements of wind power. On the other hand, this method can be used to control the battery state of charge (SOC) maintained within a suitable range, to achieve a reasonable charge and discharge function of the battery. Take a typical wind farm's output as example, under the limitation of wind power volatility and battery state of charge, this paper shows the experiment that through the real-time online optimization of the smoothing process. The simulation results show the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed coordinated control strategy based on ADP.

In this paper, an online learning algorithm based on policy iteration is established to solve the optimal control problem for weakly coupled nonlinear continuous-time systems. Using the weak coupling theory, the original problem is transformed into three reduced-order optimal control problems. To obtain the optimal control laws without system dynamics, we construct an online data-based integral policy iteration algorithm which is used to solve the decoupled optimal control problems. The actor-critic technique based on neural networks and the least squares method are used to implement the model-free learning algorithm. A simulation example is given to verify the applicability of the developed algorithm.

This paper deals with the problem of output feedback control of SISO nonlinear systems based on the multi-dimensional Taylor network (MTN) controller. It adopts the MTN controller as a network structure controller and the differential geometry as an analysis tool. It proves that, when the given conditions are met, the reference signal can be asymptotically tracked by the MTN controller. And also, it proves the MTN controller can realize the closed-loop system dynamic regulation. Finally, an example is given to prove the correctness of above.
