Buildings are important contributors to energy consumption accounting for around one-third of energy consumed in cities, where large public buildings are the dominant energy consumers and energy consumption might be significantly decreased through Building Energy Management systems (BEMS). A supervisory and management system for energy conservation in large public buildings is presented in this paper, with a PC or a embedded computer system running a BEMS software designed to connected to distributed energy metering system, wireless sensor networks, even conventional building automation (BA) systems. The supervisory and management software consists of information inquiry, energy consumption metering, energy efficiency analysis and decision support subsystems. The system framework is introduced with development and application of the software described in detail. © 2010 IEEE.

A Bio-inspired Soft Robotic Arm： Kinematic Modeling and Hydrodynamic Experiments

Soft robotics has several promising properties for aquatic applications, such as safe interaction with environments, lightweight, low cost, etc. In this paper, we proposed the kinematic modeling and hydrodynamics experiments of a soft robotic arm with 3D locomotion capacity. We developed a mathematical model that incorporates the angle correction, as well as the open-loop model-based motion control. The model could precisely predict the three-dimensional （3D） movement, and the location error is less than 5.7 mm in different attitudes. Furthermore, we performed the hydrodynamic investigations and simultaneously measured the hydrodynamic forces and the wake flows at different amplitudes （50 mm, 100 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm） and frequencies （0.3 Hz, 0.4 Hz, 0.5 Hz） of the soft arm. Surprisingly, we found that the magnitudes of the hydrodynamic force （〈1 N） and the torques （〈0.08 N-m） of dynamically moving soft arm were tiny, which leads to negligible inertial effect for the underwater vehicle than those of the traditional rigid underwater manipulator. Finally, we demonstrated underwater picking and placing tasks of the soft manipulator by using a computer program that controls the tip attitude and velocity. This study may inspire future underwater manipulators that have properties of low-inertial, low power cost and can safely interact with the aauatic environments.

Autonomous localization is a primary and crucial issue in mobile robot navigation tasks. In this article, the long-distance robust localization problem of indoor mobile robots is studied and solved by a combination style of using a laser scanner and an odometer. Firstly, a point-to-line iterative closest point(PLICP) approach is adopted to match the successive environmental information collected by a laser scanner to estimate the relative pose transformation of the robot. And then the multi-sensor fusion technology based on bounded-error set-membership estimator is proposed to to use scan matching results to correct the cumulative error of the odometer periodically to achieve precious location of the robot in indoor environments. Experimental results show that the accuracy and robustness of the proposed localization system has been improved greatly with respect to the single odometer localization approach.

Change Detection is a classic and fundamental task in remote sensing(RS), and has accomplish remarkable achievement on bitemporal image based methods. However, bitemporal images are very expensive and needs professional researchers to align and label the paired images. Furthermore, most bitemporal image based methods are only semantic-aware not instance-aware, which indicates these methods only use paired images' semantic information. Thus, we propose a method that only needs unpaired RS images with semantic labels. In this paper, we introduce multi-task learning into change detection progress, which comprises four major parts: Boundary-Aware Module, Contextual-Aware Module, Segmentation Module, Change Detection Module. At first, we construct Boundary-Aware Module and Contextual-Aware Module to extract sharp boundary and dense contextual features. Then we feed the feature maps to Change Detection Module and Segmentation Module to accomplish the subtasks. The comprehensive experiments on a single temporal image dataset demonstrate the efficiency of our approach over other bitemporal image based methods, and the experimental results shows our approach is competitive with other methods while all methods was trained on bitemporal image dataset. © 2023 ACM.

Camera calibration is an important preliminary for many applications such as 3D reconstruction, motion capture and human-computer interactions. Although great achievements have been made in the past several years, it still remains two main problems. The one is that conventional calibration methods always depend on specific calibration tools (e.g., checkerboard). The other is that the calibration procedure is complex when these methods are used in multi-view large scenarios. In this paper, we propose a camera calibration method which can be applied to large-scale sports scenarios without a special calibration object. To tackle these challenges, our key-idea is to use scene and human semantics detected from RGB images to calibrate the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of multi-view cameras. We first detect the scene and human keypoints, then the initial camera parameters are calculated with the static scene keypoints and a predefined sports field model. Finally, we combine the scene and human semantics to refine the camera intrinsic and extrinsic parameters. Experimental results demonstrate that our method successfully obtains accurate camera intrinsic and extrinsic parameters for large-scale sports scenarios. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, containment control for continuous-time multi-agent systems with multiple interacting leaders is investigated. According to the role each agent plays in the multi-agent team, the agents are classified into two categories: leaders and followers. The containment control problem in this paper is that the leaders converge to a desired formation and the followers move into the convex hull spanned by the leaders’ final positions. A sufficient condition for containment control is that the union of the interaction graphs has a spanning tree frequently enough as the system evolves. It is shown that the followers’ positions in the convex hull are dynamic due to the switching topology. The theoretical results are illustrated by some simulations.

The realization of reversible thermal conductivity through ferromagnetic ordering can improve the heat management and energy efficiency in magnetic materials-based ***_(3),as a new layered ferromagnetic semiconductor,exhibits a structural phase transition from monoclinic(C2/m)to rhombohedral(R3^(-))phase as temperature decreases,making it a suitable platform to investigate thermal switching in magnetic phase transition *** work reveals that the thermal switching ratio of VI_(3)can reach 3.9 along the *** properties analysis indicates that the C2/m structure is stiffer than the R^(-)one,causing the larger phonon velocity in C2/m ***,due to the fewer phonon branches in C2/m phase,the number of phonon–phonon scattering channels in C2/m phase is smaller compared to that of R^(-)*** the larger phonon velocity and the longer phonon lifetime lead to larger lattice thermal conductivity in C2/m *** study uncovers the mechanical and thermal properties of VI_(3),which provides useful guides for designing magnetic materials-based devices such as thermal switch.

This paper concerns robust stabilization for a class of nonlinear systems with uncertainties and disturbaces. The equivalent-input-disturbance(EID) approach is utilized to estimate the influence of nonlinearities and exogenous disturbances on the output of the system. A robust stability condition is derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Moreover, two parameters are used to tune the robustness of the system. Simulation results show that it is more effective to stabilize the system using the developed method than using the sliding-mode control(SMC) method.
