Robust real-time tracking of non-rigid objects is a challenging task. Color is a powerful feature for tracking deformable objects in image sequences with complex backgrounds. Color distribution is applied, as it is robust to partial occlusion, is rotation and scale invariant and computationally efficient. Particle filter has been proven very successful for non-linear and non-Gaussian estimation tracking problems. The article presents the integration of color distributions into particle filtering. A target is tracked with a particle filter by comparing its histogram with the histograms of the sample positions using the Bhattacharyya distance. Additionally, to solve the sample impoverishment (all particles collapse to a single point within a few iterations) in the particle-filter algorithm, a new resampling algorithm is proposed to tackle sample impoverishment. The performance of the proposed filter is evaluated qualitatively on various real-world video sequences. The experimental results show that the improved color-based particle filter algorithm can reduce sample impoverishment effectively and track the moving object very well.

Rubinstein model is widely used in bilateral negotiation problems, and in this paper it is used in the bilateral negotiations between large consumer and generating company in power market. In real market, there are several negotiation agents for one large consumer or one generating company, and thus different from traditional STS(Single-To-Single) model, MTM(Multi-To-Multi) model is used in this paper to describe the bilateral negotiations between large consumer and generating company. In Rubinstein model, the concession negotiation strategy is expressed by the discount factor, but in the bilateral negotiations between large consumer and generating company the motivation of concession is quite different from general problems. Then, based on above MTM model, the discount factor is defined according to the degree of completion and the negotiation round. Detailed strategy design is given in the paper and the results of numerical simulation also demonstrate the validity of proposed strategy.

4D Myocardium Reconstruction with Decoupled Motion and Shape Model

Estimating the shape and motion state of the myocardium is essential in diagnosing cardiovascular diseases. However, cine magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is dominated by 2D slices, whose large slice spacing challenges inter-slice shape reconstruction and motion acquisition. To address this problem, we propose a 4D reconstruction method that decouples motion and shape, which can predict the inter-/intra- shape and motion estimation from a given sparse point cloud sequence obtained from limited slices. Our framework comprises a neural motion model and an end-diastolic (ED) shape model. The implicit ED shape model can learn a continuous boundary and encourage the motion model to predict without the supervision of ground truth deformation, and the motion model enables canonical input of the shape model by deforming any point from any phase to the ED phase. Additionally, the constructed ED-space enables pre-training of the shape model, thereby guiding the motion model and addressing the issue of data scarcity. We propose the first 4D myocardial dataset as we know and verify our method on the proposed, public, and cross-modal datasets, showing superior reconstruction performance and enabling various clinical applications. This paper aims to reconstruct physically plausible hand motion from monocular color images. Existing frame-by-frame estimating approaches can not guarantee the physical plausibility (e.g. penetration, jittering) directly. In this paper, we embed physical constraints on the per-frame estimated motions in both spatial and temporal space. Our key idea is to adopt a self-supervised learning strategy to train a novel encoder-decoder, named TravelNet, whose training motion data is prepared by the physics engine using discrete pose states. TravelNet captures key pose states from hand motion sequences as compact motion descriptors, inspired by the concept of keyframes in animation. Finally, it manages to extract those key states out of perturbations without manual annotations, and reconstruct the motions preserving details and physical plausibility. In the experiments, we show that the outputs of the TravelNet contain both finger synergism and time consistency. Through the proposed framework, hand motions can be accurately reconstructed and flexibly re-edited, which is superior to the state-of-the-art methods.

Mining user intents in online interactive behavior from social media data can effectively identify users’ motives behind communication and provide valuable information to aid medical decision-making and improve services. However, it is a challenging task due to the ambiguous semantic, irregular expressions and obscure intention classification categories. In this paper, we first define user intent categories based on speech act theory. On the basis of this, we develop a novel method to further classify users’ utterances according to their pragmatic functions. First, we design topic independent features by regularizing the utterance and categorizing the textual features. Then, we build a hierarchical model based on Hidden Markov Model (HMM) [1] to mine user intents in context sequence at both sentence and microblog level. Finally, we construct a dataset of microblogs about hot topics related to the medical event by a semi-automatic method. Experimental study shows the effectiveness of our method. © 2017, Springer International Publishing AG.

In this paper, we present TLogic, a tangible programming tool for children aged 6–8. The tool contains two parts: tangible programming blocks and visual tasks with different difficulty levels. Children could use tangible programming blocks to complete visual tasks shown on computer screen. To evaluate our tool, a user study was conducted with 10 children. Results of user study show that the tool could reduce children’s cognitive load while solving the tasks and children are more interested in challenging tasks than easy tasks in our tool. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this paper, we present Co Pro Story, a collaborative tangible programming tool to support children learning programming. In recent years, many collaborative tangible programming tools were developed for children. Compared to the other tools, Sync Blocks which were designed to coordinate children’s programming were used in our tool. The tool consists of two parts: Tangible programming blocks and game tasks. Game tasks are provided with 3D cartoon story scenes on computer screen and need to be finished by collaborative programming with our programming blocks. To evaluate our tool, a contrast user study was conducted with 28 children aged 6 to 10. The results demonstrated that CoProStory could support children to program collaboratively and children had a more positive attitude toward programming with Sync Blocks. © ISLS.

This paper presents a distributed scheme with limited communications, aiming to achieve cooperative motion control for multiple omnidirectional mobile manipulators(MOMMs).The proposed scheme extends the existing single-agent motion control to cater to scenarios involving the cooperative operation of MOMMs. Specifically, squeeze-free cooperative load transportation is achieved for the end-effectors of MOMMs by incorporating cooperative repetitive motion planning(CRMP), while guiding each individual to desired poses. Then, the distributed scheme is formulated as a time-varying quadratic programming(QP) and solved online utilizing a noise-tolerant zeroing neural network(NTZNN). Theoretical analysis shows that the NTZNN model converges globally to the optimal solution of QP in the presence of noise. Finally, the effectiveness of the control design is demonstrated by numerical simulations and physical platform experiments.

Evacuation leaders and/or equipment provide route and exit information for people and guide them to the expected destinations, which could make crowd evacuation more efficient in case of emergency. The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of recent advances in guided crowd evacuation. Different guided crowd evacuation approaches are classified according to guidance approaches and technologies. A comprehensive analysis and comparison of crowd evacuation with static signage, dynamic signage, trained leader, mobile devices, mobile robot and wireless sensor networks are presented based on a single guidance mode perspective. In addition, the different evacuation guidance systems that use high-tech means such as advanced intelligent monitoring techniques, AI techniques, computer technology and intelligent inducing algorithms are reviewed from a system’s perspective. Future researches in the area of crowd evacuation are also discussed.
