Extensive experiments suggest that motor coordination among human participants may contribute to social affinity and emotional attachment, which has great potential in the clinical treatment of social disorders or schizophrenia. Mirror game provides an effective experimental paradigm for studying social motor coordination. Nevertheless, the lack of movement richness prevents the emergence of high-level coordination in the existing one-dimensional experiments. To tackle this problem, this work develops a two-dimensional experimental paradigm of mirror game by playing waggle dance between two participants. In particular, an online control architecture of customized virtual player is created to coordinate with human player. Therein, an iterative learning control algorithm is proposed by integrating position tracking and behavior imitation with prescribed kinematic feature. Moreover, convergence analysis of control algorithm is conducted to guarantee the online performance of virtual player. Finally, the proposed control strategy is validated by matching experimental data and compared with other control methods using a set of performance indexes. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Local Structural Health Monitoring System in Aircraft Based on Fiber Bragg Grating Array

In this study, a structural health monitoring system for aircraft wings based on a fiber-optic grating sensing network was designed, and a three-dimensional position correction algorithm based on fiber Bragg grating (FBG) array test data was developed. Solving the deformation parameters using mathematical models of strain-position offset introduces errors, leading to inaccurate measurements and affecting the preciseness of three-dimensional-reconstructed surfaces. Two fitting algorithms (bitone and spline with linear interpolations) are proposed to improve this method in analyzing errors at the measured points of the wing structure. The relative error of each measurement point of the reconstructed wing structure using the bitone and spline interpolation methods was lower than 4.96%. Furthermore, the absolute error was within 0.014 mm, the average relative error was lower than 3.47%, and the root-mean-square error was lower than 0.01 mm. Compared to the linear interpolation, the average relative error decreased by up to 5.84%. The experimental results show that the measurement accuracy of bitone and spline interpolation was significantly higher than that of linear interpolation. FBG array measurements using bitone and spline interpolations for the local structural health monitoring system of aircraft improve the fitting reconstruction effect for the wing structure and stabilize the compensation effect. © 2024, The Authors. In the single frame control moment gyroscope (CMG) servo system, the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is used to drive the frame. However, CMG is always affected by the multi-source strong coupling disturbance, and the disturbance form is mostly harmonic, so it is very important to accurately estimate the harmonic disturbance. In this paper, an estimation method of harmonic disturbance with unknown frequency and amplitude is proposed, and then the disturbance estimation is compensated by feedforward. Future wireless networks are poised to transform into integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) networks, unlocking groundbreaking services such as digital twinning. To harness the full potential of ISAC networks, it is essential to experimentally validate their sensing capabilities and the role of sensing in boosting communication. However, current prototype systems fall short in supporting multiple sensing functions or validating sensing-assisted communication. In response, we have developed an advanced ISAC prototype system that incorporates monostatic, bistatic, and network sensing modes. This system supports multimodal data collection and synchronization, ensuring comprehensive experimental validation. On the communication front, it excels in sensing-aided beam tracking and real-time high-definition video transmission. For sensing applications, it provides precise angle and range measurements, real-time angle-range imaging, and radio-based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). Our prototype aligns with the 5G New Radio standard, offering scalability for up to 16 user equipments (UEs) in uplink transmission and 10 UEs in downlink transmission. Real-world tests showcase the system’s superior accuracy, with root mean square errors of 2.3 degrees for angle estimation and 0.3 meters (m) for range estimation. Additionally, the estimation errors for multimodal-aided real-time radio SLAM localization and mapping are 0.25 m and 0.8 m, respectively. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Recent transformer-based methods for estimating 3D human pose have gained widespread attention, achieving state-of-the-art results. Previous methods have primarily focused on capturing motion patterns of the human body at a single scale or cascading multiple scales, such as joints, bones, and body-parts. However, they are difficult to simultaneously capture spatial-temporal motion patterns of the human body at different scales due to the complex motion patterns. To address this issue, we propose Dual-scale Spatial and Temporal transFormer (DSTFormer), which can concurrently explore the spatial dependencies and temporal motion patterns of human joints and bones. Additionally, we introduce a Gcn-Spatial Transformer Block (GSTB), which introduces Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN) into transformer to enhance the exploitation of local relationships and global information between adjacent joints or bones. Extensive experiments are conducted on the Human3.6M benchmark dataset, and superior results are reported when comparing to other state-of-the-art methods. More remarkably, our model achieves to-date the best published performance, with P1 errors of 37.9 mm and 15.6 mm, respectively.

Compared with separate solar or wind generation, the hybrid wind-solar-hydro renewable portfolio can achieve better generation characteristics due to their temporal-spatial complementarities. This paper proposes optimal portfolio of wind-solar-hydro hybrid renewable generation based on variable speed pumped storage (VSPS). In this portfolio, the complementarities of hydro-solar-wind hybrid renewable energy sources (RESs) are fully exploited via various conversion and storage devices for zero carbon 100% renewable supplies. Compared to traditional fixed speed pumped storage (FSPS), the VSPS has obvious advantages in power regulation and renewable accommodation, which is comprehensively modeled to capture its dynamic operational dispatchability and flexibility. The portfolio production, conversion, storage, and consumption are formulated via a two-stage framework, which takes the minimum system investment cost as the objective function. Case studies on southwest China are performed to show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed methodology on cost-effective accommodation. © 2023 IEEE.

In response to the national dual carbon policy, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) are currently attracting much attention. This paper proposes optimal CCUS planning for multi-energy system. In this multi-energy system, transmission network and natural gas network are coupled via conversion and storage devices in the energy hubs. The CCUS planning is formulated based on a source-sink matching method to analyze the CO2 capture points, CO2 storage points and CO2 transportation routes. Furthermore, the original CCUS planning problem is reformulated as a mixed integer second order cone programming (MISOCP) and subsequently solved to guarantee a satisfactory convergence performance. Numerical studies on an urban multi-energy system are implemented to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed methodology over conventional scheme. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Micromanipulation techniques that can achieve controlled fine operations at the micro scale play an important role in biomedical fields including embryo engineering, gene engineering, drug screening, and cell analysis. However, micromanipulation of biological micro-objects, such as cells and micro tissues, suffers from mechanical damage and low efficiency. Several techniques have been introduced to manipulate cells more easily, but most of them are restricted by expensive devices, limited work area, and potential damage to cellular structure. Here we develop a hydrodynamic manipulation method to rotate and transport mouse oocytes, which utilizes acoustic waves and micropipette to generate acoustic radiation force and excite microstreaming. This method can accomplish rotational and translational operations precisely and controllably. We tested the process of trapping, rotation, and transportation of the mouse oocytes, and measured rotational and translational speed with a range of applied voltage. The method was able to shorten the cost time of delivery and posture adjustment before oocyte injection. Our study provides an easy-to-use technique for oocyte manipulation without contact, and it has the potential to be universally applied in many cellular studies.

A Multi-population Integrated Approach for Capacitated Location Routing

The capacitated location-routing problem involves determining the depots from a set of candidate capacitated depot locations and finding the required routes from the selected depots to serve a set of customers whereas minimizing a cost function that includes the cost of opening the chosen depots, the fixed utilization cost per vehicle used, and the total cost (distance) of the routes. This paper presents a multi-population integrated framework in which a multi-depot edge assembly crossover generates promising offspring solutions from the perspective of both depot location and route edge assembly. The method includes an effective neighborhood-based local search, a feasibility-restoring procedure and a diversification-oriented mutation. Of particular interest is the multi-population scheme which organizes the population into multiple subpopulations based on depot configurations. Extensive experiments on 281 benchmark instances from the literature show that the algorithm performs remarkably well, by improving 101 best-known results (new upper bounds) and matching 84 best-known results. 3D Single-pixel imaging with active sampling patterns and learning based reconstruction

Single-pixel imaging (SPI) is significant for applications constrained by transmission bandwidth or lighting band, where 3D SPI can be further realized through capturing signals carrying depth. Sampling strategy and reconstruction algorithm are the key issues of SPI. Traditionally, random patterns are often adopted for sampling, but this blindly passive strategy requires a high sampling rate, and even so, it is difficult to develop a reconstruction algorithm that can maintain higher accuracy and robustness. In this paper, an active strategy is proposed to perform sampling with targeted scanning by designed patterns, from which the spatial information can be easily reordered well. Then, deep learning methods are introduced further to achieve 3D reconstruction, and the ability of deep learning to reconstruct desired information under low sampling rates are analyzed. Abundant experiments verify that our method improves the precision of SPI even if the sampling rate is very low, which has the potential to be extended flexibly in similar systems according to practical needs.
