Most of the existing Siamese-type trackers usually adopt pre-defined anchor boxes or anchor-free schemes to accurately estimate the bounding box of targets. Unfortunately, they suffer from complicated hand-designed components and tedious post-processings. It is not easy to adjust parameters for unique scenes in real applications. So, we propose a new scheme by formulating visual tracking as a direct set prediction problem to alleviate this issue. The main component is a transformer attached to the Siamese-type feature extraction networks. Thus, our new framework can be summarized as Siamese Network with Transformers (SiamTFR). With a fixed small set of learned object queries, we force the final set of predictions via bipartite matching, significantly reducing hyper-parameters associated with the candidate boxes. Due to the unique predictions of this framework, we significantly ease the heavy burden of hyper-parameters search of post-processings in visual tracking. Extensive experiments on visual tracking benchmarks, including GOT-10K, demonstrate that SiamTFR achieves competitive performance and runs at 50 FPS. Specifically, SiamTFR outperforms leading anchor-based tracker SiamRPN++ in the GOT-10K benchmark, confirming its effectiveness and efficiency. Furthermore, SiamTFR is deployed on the embedded device in which the algorithm can be run at 30FPS or 54FPS with TensorRT meeting the real-time requirements. In addition, we design the complete tracking system demo that can work in the real road to narrow the gap between the academic models and industrial deployments.

The micro gas turbine system acts as a key role in distributed renewable generation systems due to its flexibility, versatility, and low emissions. This paper focuses on the micro gas turbine speed control problem, which primarily determines the fuel flow for the turbine under variable load conditions. Due to nonlinear factors in MGTS, such as the coupling between systems parameters, and external disturbances such as electric load variation, it is a challenge to realize accurate speed control. In this paper, a continuous terminal sliding-mode control law based on a finite-time disturbance observer is designed for micro gas turbine control system. In this method, the integral of high-frequency switching function is introduced to control law. It guarantees the continuity of control signal and alleviates the chattering problem. Besides, the linear sliding mode surface is replaced by a full-order terminal sliding mode surface, and it obtains finite-time convergence and smaller speed tracking error. Furthermore, disturbance estimates are used in control law to eliminate the adverse effect of disturbances on control performance, which improves disturbance rejection ability. Finally, simulation comparison with conventional sliding-mode control validates the advantages of the composite controller.

Extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) secreted by organisms tend to encapsulate microplastics (MPs) to develop EPS-corona, which affecting the fate of MPs in marine ecosystem. However, how EPS-corona influences the biotoxicity of MPs to marine organisms remain poorly understood. Herein, we investigated the effect of EPS-corona on the toxicity of polystyrene (PS) MPs with different size (0.1 and 1 μm) to Skeletonema costatum. Preferential adsorption of medium molecule weight (~55 kDa) proteins onto PS MPs contributed to the EPS-corona formation, significantly enhancing the aggregation of small-sized PS MPs (0.1 μm) by aggregation effect. N and O moieties in polysaccharide and protein of EPS were preferential adsorption sites in EPS-PS MPs interaction. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations confirmed the nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) results, revealing that the binding mode between EPS and PS MPs was mainly hydrogen bonding. In addition, EPS-corona obviously increased the cell density of Skeletonema costatum under the exposure of small-sized PS MPs (0.1 μm). These findings provide new sights into the effect of EPS-corona on environmental fate and ecological risk of micro- and nano-sized plastics in the marine ecosystem. © 2024, The Authors. The increasing quality of service requirements and demand for satellite services necessitate higher data rates, spectral efficiency, and stability in satellite communication networks. Therefore, this paper investigates the non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) assisted satellite communication networks, where multiple users are uniformly distributed over a spherical hat according to the homogeneous Poisson point process (HPPP). Based on the characteristics of HPPP, we analyze the distance distributions of users. To evaluate the performance of the proposed networks, we first derive the closed-form expressions and approximated expressions of the outage probability (OP) for paired NOMA users. To obtain more insights into the proposed networks, the ergodic rate and diversity orders for paired NOMA users are also derived. Spectral efficiency is derived for NOMA and orthogonal multiple access (OMA) assisted satellite communication networks. Our analytical results demonstrate that the diversity order of the proposed networks is all one. Numerical results confirm that: 1) compared to OMA, the proposed NOMA-assisted satellite network demonstrates superior outage performance and spectral efficiency, especially in the higher power regimes;2) fading factors have negligible effects on OP and spectral efficiency;and 3) under certain target rates for both near and far users, the outage performance of far users in NOMA-assisted satellite communication networks is superior to that of near users. © 2024 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. In order to address the problem of current object detection models being too large to be deployed on robot controllers, this paper proposes improvements to YOLOv5 for real-time detection. The YOLOv5s model is pruned at the Batch Normalization (BN) layer, and further optimized using the OpenVINO tool for quantization. The results demonstrate that our improvements effectively improve the model's inference speed while maintaining its accuracy. Compared to the original YOLOv5 model, the pruned model achieves the same accuracy without degradation, with a 36.6% reduction in parameter count and a 35% reduction in weight storage file size. Furthermore, after optimization with OpenVINO, the final model achieves a FPS of 56.

Addressing the absence of a calibration technique for off-axis spatial relationships in Bidirectional Transmittance Distribution Function (BTDF) rapid measurement systems, this study introduces a novel calibration approach utilizing a correction matrix. We developed an optical path model for a standard BTDF measurement system and derived the correction matrix calculation for off-axis spatial relationship calibration. An experimental setup, covering zenith angles from 0-80°, was established to calibrate the BTDF system's off-axis spatial relationships. Furthermore, we innovated a spot centroid extraction technique using a sub-pixel interpolation algorithm, whose efficacy was validated through simulations, revealing an average extraction inaccuracies of 0.062 pixels. Experimental validation of our calibration method demonstrated a maximum off-axis spatial inaccuracies below 0.067 pixels, affirming its effectiveness for BTDF system calibration and contributing to enhanced measurement precision. © 2024, The Authors. Prompt detection of bit bounce can prevent serious incidents and is of great importance for safe and efficient deep geological drilling. In the early stage of bit bounce, signal changes are relatively weak. In addition, there are differences in the topological relationships of samples at different time instances in normal state and bit bounce. These factors present a challenge to timely and accurate bit bounce detection. Therefore, this paper proposes a bit bounce detection method based on multi-feature graph and graph convolution networks. A multi-feature graph construction method using process variables, mean value, Mahalanobis distance, and Euclidean distance is proposed, and a two-layer graph convolutional network is designed to realize deep feature extraction and incident detection. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method are demonstrated by a real drilling industrial case.

Optical tweezers can manipulate tiny particles. However, the distortion caused by the scattering medium restricts the applications of optical tweezers. Wavefront shaping techniques including the transmission matrix (TM) method are powerful tools to achieve light focusing behind the scattering medium. In this paper, we propose a new kind of TM, named intensity transmission matrix (ITM). Only relying on the intensity distribution, we can calculate the ITM with only about 1/4 measurement time of the widely used four-phase method. Meanwhile, ITM method can avoid the energy loss in diffraction introduced by holographic modulation. Based on the ITM, we have implemented particle manipulation with a high degree of freedom on single and multiple particles. In addition, the manipulation range is enlarged over twenty times (compared with the memory effect) to 200 μm. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Heavy-fraction bio-oil (HB) is an underused product of biomass pyrolysis due to its difficulty in direct use or efficient refinery, but it is a potential carbon precursor to prepare porous carbon for energy storage. The fluid HB with structural flexibility and miscibility is desirable to fabricate tailored carbon structure. In this work, we developed an in-situ activation method to convert HB into carbon-based electrode for supercapacitor applications. HB was pre-mixed with KOH activator in aqueous phase and then formed a solid composite, thus the inserted KOH could act as both activator and template agent for pore generation. The resultant porous carbon exhibits a 3D interconnected framework with micropore dominant structure. Benefiting from the structural features, the moderate surface area contributes a high capacitance of 336 F g -1 indicating the excellent pore utilization efficiency, which is superior to most activated carbons and the commercial electrode material YP-50F. Furthermore, the porous carbon shows outstanding energy density, power density and cycling stability in both aqueous and organic electrolyte, indicating a promising application potential. The valorization of HB not only provides a cost-effective electrode material for energy storage, but also promotes the comprehensive utilization from biomass pyrolysis technology. © 2022, The Authors. Establishing the dynamics model of the offshore drilling experimental system can better complete the offshore drilling test in the laboratory environment and reduce the cost of testing. A dynamical modeling method for the offshore drilling experimental system built on the double-layer Stewart parallel mechanism is proposed. Firstly, the kinematic and dynamical characteristics of the double-layer Stewart parallel mechanism are combined with the Lagrange method and the virtual work method to establish the dynamics model of the mechanism. Then a parameter identification scheme is designed using a nonlinear gray system estimation method based on the trust-domain reflection algorithm, and the model parameters are identified. The model is downscaled to improve the feasibility of the identification scheme and the accuracy of the identified parameters. The actual experimental system data verify this model's correctness and the model parameters' accuracy.
