In most batch processes, quality controlmeasurements cannot be completed before the next batch operation. Thus, the corrective step is often delayed by one batch or more. The uncertain duration of delay with stochastic characteristics can be treated as a random variable of unknown distribution. Coupled with inaccurate process models, the delay may lead to significant process output variations even with EWMA controllers. This paper proposes a new method of handling the uncertain metrology delay and its ensuing complications. The run-to-run controller is designed based on minimization of error entropy, and the probability density function of the tracking error can be estimated by the historical operation data. The simulation example demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Home automation systems based on wireless sensor/actuator networks are characterized by diversity of node power sources, limited computational power, and mobility. We propose a routing protocol that fully uses the location of static nodes to limit the search for a route to a small zone based on the analysis of characteristics and requirements. The calculation of two different kinds of zone and the route discovery procedure are described in this paper. According to the environment of home automation, we compared the performance of our routing protocols with the ad-hoc on-demand distance-vector protocol using simulation and gave suggestions for zone selection. Simulation results showed that our routing protocol dramatically reduced the routing overhead and increased the reliability.

A new simultaneous localization and mapping approach based on mixed map model using laser data and odometry information is presented in this paper. Mixed model composed of occupancy grids and line maps is utilized to represent environment maps. At the same time Hough transform is introduced to extract line features. Then robot localization and map building task is accomplished using line features matching and extended Kalman filter. Experimental results indicate the feasibility and validity of this approach.

The model consisted of the system global design level, the architecture level and the execution structure level. Furthermore, in order to establish the formal system design model, an allocation model was proposed based on simulation tasks, simulation resources and simulation services, including the relationship constraints between them. In order to intercept maneuvering targets, a guidance law based on nonsingular terminal sliding mode (NTSM) technique is presented. The proposed NTSM contains the line-of-sight (LOS) angular rate and a desired LOS angular. Through introducing the nonlinear sliding mode surface to improve the convergent characteristics of the system, the states of the closed-loop system can be converged to the origin in finite time and the system performance is improved greatly. The LOS angular rate is nullified in finite time to guarantee the zero miss-distance between the missile and the target;the LOS angular reaches the desired value in finite time to guarantee the missile attitude of hitting the target. With the maneuverability of acceleration of the target regarded as an unknown bounded disturbance, the proposed guidance law is robust to target maneuvering by using the invariance of the variable structure control. The guidance law has a simple structure and is easy to be implemented. Two cases of target maneuvering are simulated to validate the effectiveness of the method. The simulation results show that the algorithm has strong robustness and high guidance accuracy.

We address robust stabilization problem for networked controlsystems with nonlinear uncertainties and packet losses by modelling such systems as a class of uncertain switched systems. Based on theories on switched Lyapunov functions, we derive the robustly stabilizing conditions for state feedback stabilization and design packet-loss dependent controllers by solving some matrix inequalities. A numerical example and some simulations are worked out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

Considering the characteristics of the servo system, such as disturbance, nonlinearity and high inertia, variable structure controller (VSC) based on extended state observers (ESO) are designed for the aim of quick, stable and high-accuracy controlling processes. The disturbances and high-order factors are estimated and compensated using ESO. Dynamic compensation reduces the motion system to approximately a triple integrator which can be easily controlled using VSC. Because ESO provides a high-frequency path for the dynamic state not modelled, the chatter of VSC is reduced. Through tests in the gun turret system, it was shown that this controller is superior to the engineering PID and general VSC.

In this paper, a robust adaptive control scheme is proposed for the stabilization of uncertain linear systems with discrete and distributed delays and bounded perturbations. The uncertainty is assumed to be an unknown continuous function with norm-bounded restriction. The perturbation is sector-bounded. Combining with the liner matrix inequality method, neural networks and adaptive control, the control scheme ensures the exponential stability of the closed-loop system for any admissible uncertainty.

This paper presents a new soft switching bidirectional buck or boost DC-DC converter. Compared to the traditional bidirectional DC-DC converter, the new topology can be used as a buck converter or a boost converter in bidirectional cases for Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and Electrosorb Technology (EST) etc. This new converter has the advantages of simple circuit and control strategy, soft-switching implementation without additional devices, high power density, low cost, light weight and high reliability. The operating principle, theoretical analysis, and design guidelines are provided in this paper. The simulation and the experimental verifications are also presented.
