This paper studies the task assignment problem of a multi-robot system with complex constraints including the robot speed limit, the task execution time window constraints, the arrival time, the trip cost, and different priorities of the tasks. A new bidding function is then designed for each robot. Based on the k-means algorithm, a hierarchy-based extended consensus-based bundle algorithm (CBBA) is proposed to find the optimal solution for the task allocation problem. Finally, simulation examples are presented to show the feasibility of the proposed algorithm and comparisons with existing algorithms show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the task assignment time with guaranteed reward values.

A novel scheme for controlled cyclic joint remote state preparation（CCJRSP） is proposed where arbitrary singlequbit state can be mutually transmitted between three communication participants Alice, Bob and Charlie under the control of the supervisor David. In our scheme, one participant can reconstruct the desired states by performing POVM measurement and basic unitary transformation with the help of other two participants in a cyclic manner. In addition, one non-maximally entangled channel is utilized in this work. Hence, the requirement for the quantum channel is reduced.

Effect of Perforation Gradient on Compressive Properties of Single and Double Square Tubes

Stainless steel single square tubes featuring elliptical and circular perforations containing different size gradients were designed and prepared by selective laser melting technology. The double square tubes were obtained by superimposing two single square tubes, where the perforation sizes corresponding to the interior and exterior tubes were opposite. The compressive characteristics of single and double tubes were tested and simulated. The results indicated that the compressive behavior of single tubes was influenced by the size gradient of holes, while the compressive response of double tubes was mainly dominated by the external tube with elliptical holes. Subsequently, the effects of sequential changes in the size and number of perforations along the direction of tube height, elliptical and circular hybrid perforation, and perforation axis ratio and number on the compressive performance of single and double tubes were simulated. These gradient parameters affected the deformation pattern and failure stability of the tubes, providing a new approach for tube structure design. © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Strike a Balance in Continual Panoptic Segmentation

This study explores the emerging area of continual panoptic segmentation, highlighting three key balances. First, we introduce past-class backtrace distillation to balance the stability of existing knowledge with the adaptability to new information. This technique retraces the features associated with past classes based on the final label assignment results, performing knowledge distillation targeting these specific features from the previous model while allowing other features to flexibly adapt to new information. Additionally, we introduce a class-proportional memory strategy, which aligns the class distribution in the replay sample set with that of the historical training data. This strategy maintains a balanced class representation during replay, enhancing the utility of the limited-capacity replay sample set in recalling prior classes. Moreover, recognizing that replay samples are annotated only for the classes of their original step, we devise balanced anti-misguidance losses, which combat the impact of incomplete annotations without incurring classification bias. Building upon these innovations, we present a new method named Balanced Continual Panoptic Segmentation (BalConpas). Our evaluation on the challenging ADE20K dataset demonstrates its superior performance compared to existing state-of-the-art methods. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper considers the problem of monitoring and adaptively estimating an environmental field, such as temperature or salinity, using an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). The AUV moves in the field and persistently measures environmental scalars and its position in its local coordinate frame. The environmental scalars are approximately linearly distributed over the region of interest, and an adaptive estimator is designed to estimate the gradient. By orthogonal decomposition of the velocity of the AUV, a linear time-varying system is equivalently constructed, and the sufficient conditions on the motion of the AUV are established, under which the global exponential stability of the estimation error system is rigorously proved. Furthermore, an estimate of the exponential convergence rate is given, and a reference trajectory that maximizes the estimate of the convergence rate is obtained for the AUV to track. Numerical examples verify the stability and efficiency of the system.

Grid-forming inverter is widely used in grid-connected systems of distributed generation because of its frequency and voltage support capacity and good stability in microgrid, but its large inertia will affect the dynamic response speed of grid-forming inverter. In order to solve this problem, this paper introduces the loop that affects the dynamic response of grid-forming inverter, and carries out small signal modeling for active loop, analyzes the dynamic performance indicators and determinants of typical second-order system. Thus, a method of adding power feedforward coefficient to the forward channel of the power loop is designed, and the response speed of the system with or without feedforward coefficient under the unit step response is compared. Finally, the simulation results show that adding the power feedforward coefficient can improve the response speed of the grid-forming inverter during startup and power switching, then achieves the effect of fast control. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

This study investigated the optimal tracking performance (OTP) of multi-input multi-output (MIMO), discrete- time networked control systems (NCSs). The limits of tracking performance (TP) under the influences of bandwidth, encoding- decoding, and additive coloured Gaussian noise (ACGN) are derived using the techniques of coprime decomposition and all-pass decomposition. The results reveal the negative impact of non-minimum phase (NMP) zeros and unstable poles of the plant as well as network communication constraints on the TP of NCSs. Finally, a numerical simulation is discussed and verifies our conclusions.

The data-driven attack strategies recently have received much attention when the full knowledge of the system model is unknown or difficult to be obtained for the adversary. Note that despite the critical parameters of the system model being unavailable for the adversary, the existing data-driven attack methods still depend on the linearity of the unknown system model. In this paper, we design a completely model-free attack strategy where the adversary with limited capability aims to compromise state variables such that the output value follows the expected trajectory. Specifically, we first construct a zeroth-order feedback optimization framework and uninterruptedly use probing signals for real-time measurements. Then, we iteratively update the attack signals along the composite direction of the gradient estimates of the objective function evaluations and the projected gradients. These objective function evaluations can be obtained only by real-time measurements. Furthermore, we characterize the optimality of these solutions via the optimality gap, which is affected by the dimensions of the attack signal, the iterations of solutions, and the convergence rate of the system. Extensive simulations are conducted to show the effectiveness of the proposed attack strategy.

Nonreciprocal quantum devices with low loss are indispensable in quantum information processing but challenging to be realized. Here we report an experiment to realize the nonreciprocal phase shift larger than π with low loss in a cavity-free and magnetic-free cold atomic ensemble based on electromagnetically induced transparency. Furthermore, a four-port all-optical circulator is demonstrated with an average isolation ratio of 22.25 dB and transmission of 0.94 for each channel. At its optimal working point, the circulator’s total isolation ratio reaches 63.47 dB, transmission reaches 0.86, and fidelity at about 0.99. Our work can advance further investigation of nonreciprocity with cold atoms in quantum information processing applications.

Multiple types of sensors are utilized for remote monitoring of single industrial process to compensate for the limited accuracy of a single type of sensor. Network slicing technology is considered promising for collecting data from heterogeneous sensors and meeting diverse Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. However, existing research on network slicing optimization mainly focuses on inter-slice resource constraints based on slice heterogeneity, neglecting slice coupling feature. In this regard, this paper proposes a novel network slicing framework for edge-assisted industrial IoT systems. The framework includes a slice coupling model and network resource allocation (transmission and computing) to address the problem of improving estimation performance while ensuring system convergence. The slice coupling model is primarily composed of the estimation error covariance of two slices, calculated using the Age of Task (AoT) as a bridge, which reflects the accuracy and freshness of the estimation. To reduce the complexity of the direct solution, the optimization problem is scaled down and decoupled. The iterative Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed to determine the allocation rates of inter-slice transmission and computing resources. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves a flexible balance under heterogeneous estimation weights and exhibits near-optimal performance.
