Alzheimer’s disease is a multi-amyloidosis disease characterized by amyloid-βdeposits in brain blood vessels,microaneurysms,and senile *** amyloid-βdeposition affects axon pathology has not been examined *** used immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining to analyze the forebrain tissue slices of Alzheimer’s disease *** axonal amyloidosis with distinctive axonal enlargement was observed in patients with Alzheimer’s *** average,amyloid-β-positive axon diameters in Alzheimer’s disease brains were 1.72 times those of control brain ***,axonal amyloidosis was associated with microtubule-associated protein 2 reduction,tau phosphorylation,lysosome destabilization,and several blood-related markers,such as apolipoprotein E,alpha-hemoglobin,glycosylated hemoglobin type A1C,and *** destabilization in Alzheimer’s disease was also clearly identified in the neuronal soma,where it was associated with the co-expression of amyloid-β,Cathepsin D,alpha-hemoglobin,actin alpha 2,and collagen type *** suggests that exogenous hemorrhagic protein intake influences neural lysosome ***,the data showed that amyloid-β-containing lysosomes were 2.23 times larger than control ***,under rare conditions,axonal breakages were observed,which likely resulted in Wallerian *** summary,axonal enlargement associated with amyloidosis,micro-bleeding,and lysosome destabilization is a major defect in patients with Alzheimer’s *** finding suggests that,in addition to the well-documented neural soma and synaptic damage,axonal damage is a key component of neuronal defects in Alzheimer’s disease.

Enhancement of localization accuracy based on research of conversion coefficient in coherent Φ-OTDR

Recently, a distributed fiber optic sensor named phase optical time domain reflectometer or phase-sensitive optical time domain reflectometer (ɸ-OTDR) has been used in the localization and monitoring of earthquake waves, underwater facilities, etc. Precision in the localization of external perturbations on the fiber is crucial for effective problem resolution. The conversion coefficient between the extracted phase signal detected by ɸ-OTDR and the corresponding perturbation signal acting on the fiber significantly impacts localization accuracy. Therefore, the characteristic of parameters relative to the conversion coefficient in ɸ- OTDR should be deeply researched. Then, based on the established mathematical model of coherent ɸ-OTDR, modulus, statistical phase, phase change, and peak difference of coherent ɸ-OTDR with and without the static region is analyzed, respectively. The analysis reveals that when coherent φ-OTDR has perturbations homogeneously distributed along the fiber, there is no static region on the phase change-fiber length plane. At this point, although the waveform like the information of external perturbation still can be found in the retrieved phase change in the direction of pulse sequence, the phase change does not have a strictly linear relationship along the fiber. It is different from what was expected in coherent ɸ-OTDR having the static region, which means that coherent ɸ-OTDR must have the static region if a higher localization accuracy is needed. A localization case demonstrates that the proposed method with the designed static region enhances localization resolution by 210% compared to the traditional coherent φ-OTDR without the static region. These findings underscore the importance of the conversion coefficient and the relevance of the static region in ɸ-OTDR for achieving accurate and effective localization. © 2023, CC BY.

The heterogeneous system consisting of the wireless control system (WCS) and mobile agent system (MAS) is ubiquitous in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) systems. Within this system, the positions of mobile agents may lead to shadow fading on the wireless channel that the WCS is controlled over and can significantly compromise the WCS’s performance. This paper focuses on the controller design for the MAS to ensure the performance of WCS in the presence of WCS and MAS coupling. Firstly, the constrained finite field network (FFN) with profile-dependent switching topology is adopted to proceed the operational control for the MAS. By virtue of the algebraic state space representation (ASSR) method, an equivalent form is obtained for the WCS and MAS coupling. A necessary and sufficient condition in terms of constrained set stabilization is then established to ensure the Lyapunov-like performance with expected decay rate. Finally, a graphical method together with the breath-first searching is provided to design state feedback controllers for the MAS. With this method, it is easy to check the constrained set stabilization of MAS and to ensure the performance requirements of WCS in the presence of WCS and MAS coupling. The study of an illustrative example shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Experimental Study on Adsorption of Pbcl2 and Cdcl2 on Kaolin Modified by Leachates from Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Power Plant

Six kinds of waste liquids produced in the treatment process of leachate in a waste incineration plant were used to improve the adsorption effect of raw kaolin on heavy metal chloride. According to our previous study, the molar ratios of sodium ions with better modification effect to heavy metal chloride were selected as 1:2, 1:4 and 1: 8, eighteen kinds of leachates were prepared to modify raw kaolin. The capture performances of these modified kaolin on PbCl2 and CdCl2 vapor were investigated in a two-stage fixed bed combustor. The results indicated that the adsorption effects of raw kaolin on lead chloride and chromium chloride were improved in some experimental groups, but the influences did not change regularly with the increase in the concentration of sodium ions introduced into kaolin. The adsorbents formed by modifying 10 g kaolin with 21.25 ml leachate 2 (group 6) were the best adsorbents for two kinds of heavy metal chlorides. The capture efficiencies of PbCl2 and CdCl2 can reach 95% and 63.88%, with the increase by 36% and 53%, respectively. The sodium ions in the leachate properly promote the melting of the kaolin layer, and the active sites on inner layers are exposed to adsorb more heavy metals. Therefore, the modified kaolin with this leachate can obtain the adsorbent with good capture effect for both PbCl2 and CdCl2. Adsorptions of PbCl2 and CdCl2 were still mainly chemical adsorptions. After adsorption of PbCl2, the modified kaolin not only generates PbA12Si2O8, but also produces other chemical compounds with PbCl2. The adsorption of CdCl2 by modified kaolin does not generate CdAl2Si2O8, but other chemical reactions occurred to generate CdAl2O4 and Pb8Cd (Si2O7)3. The leachate, which was local material that can be obtained in the MSW incineration plant and turned from waste into treasure, can be effectively utilized to modify kaolin. Isoforms refer to different mRNA molecules transcribed from the same gene, which can be translated into proteins with varying structures and functions. Predicting the functions of isoforms is an essential topic in bioinformatics as it can provide valuable insights into the intricate mechanisms of gene regulation and biological processes. Conventionally, gene function labels are standardized in Gene Ontology (GO) terms. However, traditional methods for predicting isoform function are largely limited by the absence of isoform-specific labels, sparse annotations, and the vast number of GO terms. To address these issues, we propose HANIso, a deep learning-based method for isoform function prediction. HANIso leverages a pretrained protein language model to extract features from protein sequences. It also integrates heterogeneous information, such as isoform sequence features, GO annotations, and isoform interaction data, using a Heterogeneous Graph Attention Network (HAN). This allows the model to learn the importance of different sources of information and their semantic relationships through the attention mechanism. Our method can predict function labels at both the gene level and isoform level. We conduct experiments on two species datasets, and the results demonstrate that our method outperforms existing methods on both AUROC and AUPRC. HANIso has the potential to overcome the limitations of traditional methods and provide a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of isoform function.

Owing to large industrial energy consumption, industrial production has brought a huge burden to the grid in terms of renewable energy access and power supply. Due to the coupling of multiple energy sources and the uncertainty of renewable energy and demand, centralized methods require large calculation and coordination overhead. Thus, this paper proposes a multi-energy management framework achieved by decentralized execution and centralized training for an industrial park. The energy management problem is formulated as a partially-observable Markov decision process, which is intractable by dynamic programming due to the lack of the prior knowledge of the underlying stochastic process. The objective is to minimize long-term energy costs while ensuring the demand of users. To solve this issue and improve the calculation speed, a novel multi-agent deep reinforcement learning algorithm is proposed, which contains the following key points: counterfactual baseline for facilitating contributing agents to learn better policies, soft actor-critic for improving robustness and exploring optimal solutions. A novel reward is designed by Lagrange multiplier method to ensure the capacity constraints of energy storage. In addition, considering that the increase in the number of agents leads to performance degradation due to large observation spaces, an attention mechanism is introduced to enhance the stability of policy and enable agents to focus on important energy-related information, which improves the exploration efficiency of soft actor-critic. Numerical results based on actual data verify the performance of the proposed algorithm with high scalability, indicating that the industrial park can minimize energy costs under different demands. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

Rainfall impacts daily activities and can lead to severe hazards such as flooding. Traditional rainfall measurement systems often lack granularity or require extensive infrastructure. While the attenuation of electromagnetic waves due to rainfall is well-documented for frequencies above 10 GHz, sub-6 GHz bands are typically assumed to experience negligible effects. However, recent studies suggest measurable attenuation even at these lower frequencies. This study presents the first channel state information (CSI)-based measurement and analysis of rainfall attenuation at 2.8 GHz. The results confirm the presence of rain-induced attenuation at this frequency, although classification remains challenging. The attenuation follows a power-law decay model, with the rate of attenuation decreasing as rainfall intensity increases. Additionally, rainfall onset significantly increases the delay spread. Building on these insights, we propose RainGaugeNet, the first CSI-based rainfall classification model that leverages multipath and temporal features. Using only 20 seconds of CSI data, RainGaugeNet achieved over 90% classification accuracy in line-of-sight scenarios and over 85% in non-line-of-sight scenarios, significantly outperforming state-of-the-art methods.
