In this paper, a hierarchical formation-containment control scheme is proposed for second-order multi-agent systems. The proposed hierarchical scheme decouples the control task into two layers, i.e., reference signal generator and agents’ tracking controllers. First, a reference signal generator is designed in Layer 1 for leader agents and follower agents, respectively, to produce the formation reference signals and containment reference signals, whose outputs "achieve" formation-containment asymptotically. Second, tracking controllers are designed in Layer 2 for each agent to track the reference signal. The proposed hierarchical formation-containment scheme realizes formation-containment asymptotically. The simulations are performed to validate the effectiveness and practicality of the scheme. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Fall events have unique dynamic features, which are not fully utilized by existing fall detection methods. Based on video understanding, we propose Fall-LSTM to learn such features pertinently without additional inputs. Fall-LSTM is composed of CNN-LSTM framework and two excitation modules i.e., Spatial Attention Module (SAM) and Temporal Location Module (TLM). SAM provides spatial constraints on motion for feature layers through foreground extraction and spatial pooling. TLM emphasizes frames with high probability of fall events to LSTM by inferring the rate and trend of motion in clips. Experimental results show that our proposed modules significantly improve the performance of LSTM model, outperforming the state-of-the-art methods on two public Fall Detection Datasets i.e., Le2i and UR. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Reconstructing interacting hands from monocular color images plays an important role in promoting the understanding of human behavior and the application of existing AR/VR technology. With the emergence of interacting hands datasets, numerous data-driven methods attempt to regress the MANO parameters of the left and right hand from the network. This formulation not only limits the handedness and the number of hands in the image but also introduces the deficiencies of the MANO into the interacting-hand reconstruction task. To address this obstacle, we present a novel framework for representing the surface of interacting hands with implicit functions. Our key idea is to construct an implicit neural occupancy network, which implicitly reconstructs interacting hands with image features as query strategies and conditions. The proposed query strategies only require one sample to obtain enough points on the surface. Our unified framework efficiently completes the task of reconstructing hands with the unlimited number, handedness, and interaction compactness from monocular color images. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

Stereo vision plays a crucial role in scientific expeditions and facility maintenance. However, fixed-baseline stereo vision lacks accuracy for long-distance measurements, while wide-baseline stereo vision encounters occlusion issues at short distances. In this study, a wide-baseline stereo matching based on multi-view geometric constraints is proposed. Initially, the camera poses of multiple wide-baseline images are estimated, followed by image rectification and depth estimation. Subsequently, the disparity searching is constrained using geometric relationships among the views, resulting in more precise depth maps. Experiments were conducted to verify the superiority of the proposed method. The results indicate that the proposed method achieves an RMSE as low as 0.15 meters, even with invalid depth points. Compared to traditional stereo vision methods, accuracy is improved by approximately 35%, and robustness is significantly enhanced. In the aircraft runway scenario, overall depth map accuracy is higher, and occluded areas are significantly reduced. © 2024 IEEE.

Improved control Strategies for Totem-Pole PFC With True Full Range ZVS Operation

Zero voltage switching (ZVS) of power semiconductor devices is an effective way to improve the efficiency and power density of the power electronic converters with extremely high switching frequency. This article aims to analyze and realize the true full-range ZVS operation of a totem-pole power factor correction circuit. The available ZVS control strategies are investigated, and the conditions for the realization of full-range ZVS operation are analyzed. It is revealed that the existed control strategies did not consider the influence of the dead-time, resulting in the failure of ZVS operation in some input voltage ranges. To address this issue, two feasible retrofitted control strategies, namely the turn-off current optimization control and the adaptive dead-time control, are proposed. The merits and drawbacks of the two control strategies are carefully analyzed and compared. It is found that the adaptive dead-time control can not only achieve the true full range ZVS but also significantly reduce the loss of the freewheeling diodes. The design consideration of key parameters is discussed. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed control and the correctness of the theoretical analyses are verified by simulation and experiment. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

In the Off-Axis Integrated Cavity Output Spectroscopy (OA-ICOS) technique, single-stage filters are commonly used to reduce noise and improve the signal-to-noise ratio, enabling more precise CO2 concentration detection. However, these filters often underperform under real-time conditions. To enhance real-time performance, this paper proposes a novel framework based on Double Wavelet Threshold Filter (DWTF) that adaptively suppresses noise while preserving key features of CO2 concentration signal. Firstly, one wavelet threshold filter (WT) is introduced to calculate the mean of the current sequence, providing an initial denoising step. Secondly, another WT is employed to extract features from a longer sequence for adaptive computation of the discount factor. Finally, an exponential moving average filter (EMA) is applied to combine both current and historical data to produce a smoother aggregated output. To validate the effectiveness, DWTF was compared with other conventional algorithms for a CO2 dataset with three distinct states: smooth, ship and mutant, obtained by OA-ICOS. The experimental results demonstrate that DWTF performs effectively in all three states. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2024.

For stochastic nonlinear systems with input saturation, few of the existing control methods use a suitable auxiliary system to solve input saturation problem, and most of them are for deterministic systems. In this study, according to the backstepping approach and the Lyapunov stability theorem, utilizing multi-dimensional Taylor network (MTN), an adaptive controller is presented to secure that all closed-loop signals keep bounded in probability, in which MTN is implemented to approach the uncertain function during the controller design. Moreover, the impact raised by input saturation is mitigated by designing an appropriate auxiliary system, in which the order of the auxiliary system is the same as that of the controlled system. Furthermore, unlike the majority of prior findings, the final output signal could be constrained in a mean quartic sense by an explicit expression of the input saturation error (the difference between the control signal and the saturation input) and the parameters used for design. Finally, the efficiency of the suggested control methodology is confirmed by providing an example. © 2023 IEEE.

Smoke is a distinctive feature of pre-fire combustion and it is critical to prevent fires by detecting smoke. Previous work has demonstrated that deep learning methods have a wide range of applications in the field of smoke detection. However, existing methods still have some problems, i.e., it is difficult to balance the relationship between accuracy and speed. In order to solve the existing problems, we proposed Efficient Temporal Alignment Network (ETAN) for Video Smoke Detection. Feature Aggregation Module (FAM) was designed to extract the dynamic features between frames, and we proposed Recursive Memory Feature Update (RMFU) module to maintain the features of past frames and fuse the current features to boost detection performance. Finally, experiments demonstrated that the proposed method improved about 3.8 mAP compared with base detector with little increase in the number of parameters, and outperformed all the single-frame detection methods with the same amount of parameters. Compared with video smoke detection methods, the detection achieved close to the same accuracy while 6.1 times faster than multi-frame methods. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2023.
