4-nitrophenol (4-NP) in industrial wastewater is harmful to both ecological environment and human health even in the very low concentration in the environment. Catalytic hydrogenation, which converts toxic pollutants from wastewater into high-value industrial feedstocks, is a coveted treatment option, but the design of suitable catalysts has been a challenge in the field. In this work, the functionalized conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) anchored Ag nanocatalysts could effectively catalyze the hydrogenation of 4-NP in wastewater to 4-aminophenol (4-AP) with the rate constant k of 0.01544 s −1 . We further optimized the morphology of the CMP substrate to stabilize Ag nanocatalysts and integrated the composite into a modular unit for continuous flow wastewater treatment with an outstanding permeation flux of 1603 L m −2 h −1 (LMH). These findings provide an effective strategy to design noble metal catalysts for catalytic hydrogenation and could potentially be modularized for use in mountainous and isolated communities.

Service robots are playing more and more roles for indoor environments and for a service robot with limited equipment and capacity, it is an effective way to empower itself so as to better serve people or function via seeking help from surrounding resources as ambient intelligence or people. With open source program Robot Operating System (ROS) well developed for localization, navigation, communication, even some service operation tasks and as an accepted design approach, a new system mechanism, design and implementation are presented in this paper which employs ROS middleware for system enhancement and extension, instead of conventional complex distributed computing or WEB Service nodes. A networked robot works semi-autonomously under supervisory control of people through an Internet Browser while served by ambient intelligent assistant nodes to empower its functions. Smart device nodes and supervisory system of the robot is designed with ROS middleware and typical distributed resources node for video/audio under non-ROS system as with Android for ROSBridge communication are given in detail. Lastly, typical application scenarios and experiments are given for validation of the experimental system's design and feasibility.

Converting wind energy into ammonia (WtA) has been recognized as a promising pathway to enhance the usage of wind generation. This paper proposes a generic optimal configuration model of WtA at the network level to minimize the ammonia production cost by optimizing capacities and locations of WtA facilities including wind turbines, electrolyzers, hydrogen tanks and optimizing supply modes among regions. Specifically, the temporal fluctuation characteristics of wind resources, the operation flexibility of the ammonia synthesis reactor and the transport distances are considered. Three typical supply modes, i.e., the Local WtA, the EN (electric network)-based WtA and the HSC (hydrogen supply chain)-based WtA, combined with two energy transport modes including EN and HT (Hydrogen truck trailers) are included with the consideration of the maximal energy transport capacity of EN and transport distance per day of HT (500km). Real data of Inner Mongolia (a typical province in China with rich wind resources and existing ammonia industries) is employed to verify the effectiveness and significance of proposed model. The effect of above significant factors on optimal planning capacity of WtA facilities and optimal energy transport modes is analyzed, which provides guidelines for WtA configuration. The economic analysis shows that the average LCOA (levelized cost of ammonia) for WtA is approximately 0.57 €/kg in Inner Mongolia and comparable to that for CtA (coal-to-ammonia, 0.41 €/kg) with a reduction of 30% in capacity cost of the facilities. Most existing path following algorithms for middle-or large-sized underwater vehicles minimize yaw difference of the control object. Breaking the canonical manner, this paper presents a vision-based path planning and following system for miniature robotic fish. As for path planning, the proposed system finds a gird path based on the AStar algorithm and selects a series of target points in the grid path. By connecting these points in order, a curve path can be planned. In terms of path following, the proposed system forgoes to give a specific yaw and only uses a global camera. It obtains coordinates of the robotic fish in real time by KCF tracking algorithm to calculate an approximate motion vector. A PID controller is employed to drive the difference angle between the motion vector and the target vector (the vector from the robotic fish to the target point) to zero. By swimming to target points one by one, the robotic fish can move to the terminus following the planned path. Finally, aquatic experiments are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the vision-based path planning and following system. The results reveal that the developed system can generate a safe and smooth path, and the robotic fish can follow the path with acceptable deviation.

The purpose of this paper is to design a coherent feedback controller for a Markovian jump linear quantum system suffering from a fault signal. The control objective is to bound the effect of the disturbance input on the output for the time-varying quantum system. We prove the relation between the H ∞ control problem, the dissipation properties, and the solutions of Riccati differential equations, by which the H ∞ controller of the Markovian jump linear quantum system is given by the solutions of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs).

Online transmission line outage detection over the entire network enable timely corrective actions to be taken, which prevents a local event from cascading into a large scale blackout. Line outage detection aims to detect an outage as soon as possible after it happened. Traditional methods either do not consider the transient dynamics following an outage or require a full Phasor measurement Unit (PMU) deployment. Using voltage phase angle data collected from a limited number of PMUs, we propose a real-time dynamic outage detection scheme based on alternating current (AC) power flow model and statistical change detection theory. The proposed method can capture system dynamics since it retains the time-variant and nonlinear nature of the power system. The method is computationally efficient and scales to large and realistic networks. Extensive simulation studies on IEEE 39-bus and 2383-bus systems demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper studies event-driven synchronization control problem for chaotic Lur'e system with cyber attack. Firstly, In order to save network bandwidth resources, the event-driven scheme is employed to determine whether the sampled state should be transmitted to the controller. Secondly, a synchronization error model is designed to describe the master-slave synchronization system with event-driven scheme and cyber attack. Thirdly, based on Lyapunov functional approach, sufficient conditions for stabilization are derived which can ensure synchronization of the master system and slave system;particularly, a co-designed approach of controller and the event-driven matrix is obtained using the above stability condition. Lastly, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Accurate calculating harmonic currents of the wind farm without the influence of background harmonics, is a hot and difficult issue in the field of wind farm testing. The key point of excluding background harmonic influence is to determine the harmonic impedance on both sides of the point of interconnection (POI) of wind farm. A new method for calculating the harmonic impedance on both sides of POI was proposed. Firstly, a set of Zs and Zc is obtained from several testing data based on Complex Independent Component Method, and Zs and Zc are harmonic impedance of grid side and wind farm side, respectively. Then, these harmonic impedance values are filtered by Complex Linear Regression method. The final Zs and Zc are obtained by 95% probability method. The harmonic current from grid side and wind farm side can be calculated by Norton equivalent circuit model at the POI. The simulation results show that the harmonic impedance values calculated after impedance screening are more accurate. This method can effectively eliminate the influence of background harmonic and accurately obtain the harmonic current of the wind farm, and provide an accurate basis for the harmonic characteristics evaluation and harmonic control of the wind farm.

In this paper, by focusing on trajectory tracking control of unmanned surface vessel (USV), we present a control method considering uncertain dynamics and output error constrains. Firstly, by using the properties of tan-type barrier Lyapunov function (BLF), the output tracking error can be constrained. Secondly, we use radical basis function neural network (RBF NN) to approximate the uncertain dynamics. Considering that the estimated parameters convergence cannot be achieved in the absence of persistent excitation (PE) conditions, the composite learning update law of the weight matrix in the NN is adopted to guarantee the parameters convergence under interval excitation (IE) conditions which is easier to reach. In simulation studies, it is proven that the USV have good ability to follow the pre-designed trajectory with small tracking error and the parameters convergence can be ensured.

China has implemented retrofitting measures in coal-fired power plants (CFPPs) to reduce air pollution through small unit shutdown (SUS), the installation of air pollution control devices (APCDs) and power generation efficiency (PGE) improvement. The reductions in highly toxic Hg emissions and their related health impacts by these measures have not been well studied. To refine mitigation options, we evaluated the health benefits of reduced Hg emissions via retrofitting measures during China's 12th Five-Year Plan by combining plant-level Hg emission inventories with the China Hg Risk Source-Tracking Model. We found that the measures reduced Hg emissions by 23.5 tons (approximately 1/5 of that from CFPPs in 2010), preventing 0.0021 points of per-foetus intelligence quotient (IQ) decrements and 114 deaths from fatal heart attacks. These benefits were dominated by CFPP shutdowns and APCD installations. Provincial health benefits were largely attributable to Hg reductions in other regions. We also demonstrated the necessity of considering human health impacts, rather than just Hg emission reductions, in selecting Hg control devices. This study also suggests that Hg control strategies should consider various factors, such as CFPP locations, population densities and trade-offs between reductions of total Hg (THg) and Hg2+.
