Enhanced Secure Beamforming for IRS-Assisted IoT Communication Using a Generative Diffusion Model-enabled Optimization Approach

The spatial correlation between the main and eavesdropping channels impacts the effectiveness of beamforming technology in securing the IoT communication system. This study proposes an IRS-assisted secure beamforming scheme (IRSSBS) for a multi-user IoT system under imperfect channel state information (CSI). The security issue, constrained by channel spatial correlation, is formulated as a non-convex optimization problem with probabilistic constraints. To address this, we introduce a novel Actor-Critic algorithm combined with a Generative Diffusion Model (AC-GDM). This approach jointly optimizes the base station (BS) precoding matrix and the intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) phase shift matrix, subject to constraints on transmit power and phase shifts. The AC-GDM algorithm utilizes a denoising process to recover the optimal beamforming solution from the Gaussian noise inherent in the multi-user wireless channel environment. Simulation results demonstrate that the minimum achievable secrecy rate of the IRS-SBS outperforms the artificial noise (AN) scheme and the beamforming (BF) scheme by approximately 1.9576 and 2.3596 bps/Hz, respectively. These results validate the effectiveness of IRS-SBS in significantly mitigating the impact of channel spatial correlation on the security of IoT communication systems. © 2014 IEEE.

Most existing Salient Object Detection (SOD) methods focus on achieving better performance, often resulting in models with a large number of parameters. However, there is limited research on lightweight models in this field. To address this gap, our goal is to maintain performance while reducing the number of network parameters. Thanks to the development of large-kernel convolutions in recent years, we have improved the U2Net as the base network by adding our lightweight dual large-kernel fusion module. Our module better utilizes the depth information of U2Net and, due to the large receptive field of large-kernel convolutions, better captures the relationships between image elements. This allows our network to remain lightweight while maintaining performance. We designed a large-kernel (DLK) fusion module and a lightweight dual grouped large-kernel Unet network (DGLKUNET). Our network uses SRUS (an improved Residual U-blocks module, RUS) to construct DGLKUNET that predicts image contours and labels. Compared to the base RUS network (U2Net), our network reduces the number of parameters by up to 70% and the computational cost by 40% while maintaining performance. Because of server-untrustable model in outsourcing encrypted database system, it’s fatal for data owners to keep their data confidential under complex query operations performed by database servers. Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) provide a secure space for privacy computation via hardware-based methods to increase the efficiency of database system, and it ensures the availability of computing directly on sensitive data in untrusted outsourcing database servers. However, while various query schemes are designed under the combination of encrypted database and TEEs, designing an available and secure scheme for join queries on multiple data tables with TEEs remains an open problem. Besides, previous works also devote less to bench-marking multi-way joins on TEEs. In our work, we extend binary join query scheme into multi-way forms in encrypted database system based on TEEs. It combines various join algorithms based on hash functions (hash-based, radix-based, etc.) with parallelized optimizing mechanism. Besides, we do bench-marking with TEEBench framework on those multi-way join schemes in three-way forms using both cache-fit and cache-exceed datasets and do different evaluation on two TEEs hardware platforms (Intel SGX and AMD SEV) to show its availability. After that, we also propose a multi-way join scheme with access pattern protection through the combination between our previous scheme and oblivious I/O methods. With the evaluation of its efficiency and memory leakage, we can also verify the feasibility of our access-pattern-protected multi-way join scheme. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks (KAN) is an emerging neural network architecture in machine learning. It has greatly interested the research community about whether KAN can be a promising alternative to the commonly used Multi-Layer Perceptions (MLP). Experiments in various fields demonstrated that KAN-based machine learning can achieve comparable if not better performance than MLP-based methods, but with much smaller parameter scales and are more explainable. In this paper, we explore the incorporation of KAN into the actor and critic networks for offline reinforcement learning (RL). We evaluated the performance, parameter scales, and training efficiency of various KAN and MLP-based conservative Q-learning (CQL) on the classical D4RL benchmark for offline RL. Our study demonstrates that KAN can achieve performance close to the commonly used MLP with significantly fewer parameters. This allows us to choose the base networks according to the offline RL task requirements. © 2025 IEEE.

Transformer-based multi-level attention integration network for video saliency prediction

Most existing models for video saliency prediction heavily rely on 3D convolutional operations to extract spatio-temporal features. However, it is worth noting that 3D convolution produces a local receptive field, which may struggle to capture long-range spatio-temporal dependencies effectively. To compensate for such shortage, this paper introduces a novel approach called the Transformer-based Multi-level Attention Integration Network (TMAI-Net) for video saliency prediction. TMAI-Net is designed as a two-stream encoder-decoder model, carefully integrating multi-level features of semantic information. Our model incorporates a Multi-level Interactive Attention(MLIA) module and a Transformer, both implemented based on self-attention mechanism, which are placed at different levels of the model to capture long-range spatio-temporal feature dependencies. Additionally, our model operates on input video frames and attentional patches, allowing the Transformer module to capture structural similarities between related objects in global features and attention features. This, in turn, enables the model to allocate increased attention to salient areas. Network intrusion detection based on feature fusion of attack dimension

Network traffic anomaly detection involves the rapid identification of intrusions within a network through the detection, analysis, and classification of network traffic data. The variety of cyberattacks encompasses diverse attack principles. Employing an indiscriminate feature selection strategy may lead to the neglect of key features highly correlated with specific attack types. This oversight could diminish the recognition rate for that category, thereby impacting the overall performance of the detection model. To address this issue, this paper proposes a network traffic anomaly detection model based on the fusion of attack-dimensional features. Firstly, construct binary classification datasets independently for each attack class and perform individual feature selection to extract positively correlated features for each class. The features are then fused by employing a combination methods. Subsequently, based on the fused sub-datasets, base classifiers are trained. Finally, an ensemble learning approach is introduced to integrate the predictions of individual classifiers, enhancing the robustness of the model. The proposed approach, validated on NSL-KDD and UNSW-NB15 benchmark datasets, outperforms the latest methods in the field by achieving a 2% and 7% increase in precision on weighted averages. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

Towards a Theoretical Understanding of Semi-Supervised Learning Under Class Distribution Mismatch

Semi-supervised learning (SSL) confronts a formidable challenge under class distribution mismatch, wherein unlabeled data contain numerous categories absent in the labeled dataset. Traditional SSL methods undergo performance deterioration in such mismatch scenarios due to the invasion of those instances from unknown categories. Despite some technical efforts to enhance SSL by mitigating the invasion, the profound theoretical analysis of SSL under class distribution mismatch is still under study. Accordingly, in this work, we propose Bi- Objective Optimization Mechanism (BOOM) to theoretically analyze the excess risk between the empirical optimal solution and the population-level optimal solution. Specifically, BOOM reveals that the SSL error is the essential contributor behind excess risk, resulting from both the pseudo-labeling error and invasion error. Meanwhile, BOOM unveils that the optimization objectives of SSL under mismatch are binary: high-quality pseudo-labels and adaptive weights on the unlabeled instances, which contribute to alleviating the pseudo-labeling error and the invasion error, respectively. Moreover, BOOM explicitly discovers the fundamental factors crucial for optimizing the bi-objectives, guided by which an approach is then proposed as a strong baseline for SSL under mismatch. Extensive experiments on benchmark and real datasets confirm the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm.

Since the regulatory roles of microRNAs in complex human diseases have been gradually demonstrated, more and more enlightening models were developed for predicting microRNA-disease associations. These models can inform bio-logical studies on the differential expression of microRNAs. In this paper, a graph convolutional network-based model using multi-view feature fusion and matrix completion, FMCGCN for brevity, is proposed. First of all, graph autoencoders are used to learn multiple embeddings from different networks. For convenience, attention mechanisms are used to fuse them. As a result, multi-view features constructed from different perspectives are aggregated. Then, the fused embedding is fed into the graph convolutional network to aggregate local information. This fused embedding is thought to facilitate feature extraction for graph convolutional networks. Finally, feature and nuclear norm minimization, a method for matrix completion, is used to obtain the prediction matrix. Additionally, evaluation results under 5-fold cross-validation prove that FMCGCN outperforms current models in several metrics. Furthermore, case studies for esophageal neoplasms and pancreatic neoplasms also demonstrate the validity of our model.

Average filtering plays a vital role in image smoothing tasks. However, existing quantum image weighted average filtering methods suffer from high circuit complexity. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved quantum color image weighted average filtering algorithm and its corresponding quantum circuit. First, we improve the quantum circuit to prepare classical color images into a quantum state. Then, an improved quantum divider is developed, and a weighted average filter is constructed using basic quantum image processing modules. Next, to enhance the universality of the filter, a quantum comparator with lower circuit complexity is used to design a noise detection module for distinguishing noise from real signals. Finally, a quantum circuit for color image weighted average filtering is designed, and simulations are conducted on the IBM Quantum Experience (IBM Q) platform to verify the feasibility of our algorithm. The analysis shows that compared with existing methods, this method significantly reduces the circuit complexity and has better filtering performance. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

In order to study the characteristics of pure fly ash-based geopolymer concrete(PFGC)conveniently,we used a machine learning method that can quantify the perception of characteristics to predict its compressive *** this study,505 groups of data were collected,and a new database of compressive strength of PFGC was *** order to establish an accurate prediction model of compressive strength,five different types of machine learning networks were used for comparative *** five machine learning models all showed good compressive strength prediction performance on *** them,R2,MSE,RMSE and MAE of decision tree model(DT)are 0.99,1.58,1.25,and 0.25,*** R2,MSE,RMSE and MAE of random forest model(RF)are 0.97,5.17,2.27 and 1.38,*** two models have high prediction accuracy and outstanding generalization *** order to enhance the interpretability of model decision-making,we used importance ranking to obtain the perception of machine learning model to 13 *** 13 variables include chemical composition of fly ash(SiO_(2)/Al_(2)O_(3),Si/Al),the ratio of alkaline liquid to the binder,curing temperature,curing durations inside oven,fly ash dosage,fine aggregate dosage,coarse aggregate dosage,extra water dosage and sodium hydroxide *** temperature,specimen ages and curing durations inside oven have the greatest influence on the prediction results,indicating that curing conditions have more prominent influence on the compressive strength of PFGC than ordinary Portland cement *** importance of curing conditions of PFGC even exceeds that of the concrete mix proportion,due to the low reactivity of pure fly ash.
