sEMG (surface electromyography) signal control of bionic prostheses has been widely studied over the past few years. In particular, sparse sEMG signals are rapidly developing in the field of gesture recognition for their convenience, noninvasiveness, and ease of access. However, compared with high-density EMG signals, sparse EMG signals lack rich feature information, which in turn affects gesture recognition accuracy. In order to reduce the loss of feature information of sparse EMG signals in the spatio-temporal dimension, this paper proposes a hybrid neural network Res-LSTM combining residual network and long short-term memory network. The ordinary convolutional blocks in the CNN network are replaced with residual blocks, and the final fully connected layer is removed and a constant mapping layer is added to adequate extraction of spatial feature information of the data. The Res layer’s output is utilized as the input for the long and short-term memory (LSTM) network, which further extracts the features of the data in the temporal dimension, and finally completes the categorization output through a fully connected layer. The average accuracy of 91.11% for gesture-motion classification was verified by training on a homebrew dataset;and tested on a public dataset, NinaPro DB1, with an average accuracy of 91.03%. The experimental findings indicate that the proposed Res-LSTM network framework contributes to solving the problem of lack of feature information of sparse sEMG signals and improves the pattern recognition accuracy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Reconstructing Hyperspectral Images (HSI) from RGB images can yield high spatial resolution HSI at a lower cost, demonstrating significant application potential. This paper reveals that local correlation and global continuity of the spectral characteristics are crucial for HSI reconstruction tasks. Therefore, we fully explore these inter-spectral relationships and propose a Correlation and Continuity Network (CCNet) for HSI reconstruction from RGB images. For the correlation of local spectrum, we introduce the Group-wise Spectral Correlation Modeling (GrSCM) module, which efficiently establishes spectral band similarity within a localized range. For the continuity of global spectrum, we design the Neighborhood-wise Spectral Continuity Modeling (NeSCM) module, which employs memory units to recursively model the progressive variation characteristics at the global level. In order to explore the inherent complementarity of these two modules, we design the Patch-wise Adaptive Fusion (PAF) module to efficiently integrate global continuity features into the spectral features in a patch-wise adaptive manner. These innovations enhance the quality of reconstructed HSI. We perform comprehensive comparison and ablation experiments on the mainstream datasets NTIRE2022 and NTIRE2020 for the spectral reconstruction task. With the Internet of Things (IoT) playing an increasingly crucial role in connecting diverse devices, applications have different requirements for communication and various evaluation metrics have emerged, such as Age of information (AoI) and estimation error. Considering the fundamental trade-off between reliability and latency of the communication system, the relationship among reliability, latency, AoI and estimation error is complex. This paper proposes a remote state observation system with application-layer rateless codes to explore above relationships, addressing how to design the system for optimal performance based on varying requirements by adjusting coding parameters. By emphasizing flexible and adaptable coding strategies, we aim to convey the idea that the error-correction codes can be designed to optimize the communication system for diverse practical metrics. It is different from the traditional designs that focus on approaching the Shannon limit.

Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) enable direct communication between the brain and external devices. This review highlights the core decoding algorithms that enable multimodal BCIs, including a dissection of the elements, a unified view of diversified approaches, and a comprehensive analysis of the present state of the field. We emphasize algorithmic advancements in cross-modality mapping, sequential modeling, besides classic multi-modality fusion, illustrating how these novel AI approaches enhance decoding of brain data. The current literature of BCI applications on visual, speech, and affective decoding are comprehensively explored. Looking forward, we draw attention on the impact of emerging architectures like multimodal Transformers, and discuss challenges such as brain data heterogeneity and common errors. This review also serves as a bridge in this interdisciplinary field for experts with neuroscience background and experts that study AI, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding for AI-powered multimodal BCIs. © 2025, CC BY-NC-ND.

Graph signal processing (GSP) has emerged as a powerful framework for analyzing data on irregular domains. In recent years, many classical techniques in signal processing (SP) have been successfully extended to GSP. Among them, chirp signals play a crucial role in various SP applications. However, graph chirp signals have not been formally defined despite their importance. Here, we define graph chirp signals and establish a comprehensive theoretical framework for their analysis. We propose the graph fractional vertex-frequency energy distribution (GFED), which provides a powerful tool for processing and analyzing graph chirp signals. We introduce the general fractional graph distribution (GFGD), a generalized vertex-frequency distribution, and the reduced interference GFED, which can suppress cross-term interference and enhance signal clarity. Furthermore, we propose a novel method for detecting graph signals through GFED domain filtering, facilitating robust detection and analysis of graph chirp signals in noisy environments. Moreover, this method can be applied to real-world data for denoising more effective than some state-of-the-arts, further demonstrating its practical significance. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. This paper investigates the finite-horizon distributionally robust mixed-integer control (DRMIC) of uncertain linear systems. However, deriving an optimal causal feedback control policy to this DRMIC problem is computationally formidable for most ambiguity sets. To address the computational challenge, we propose a novel distributionally robust lifted control policy (DR-LCP) method to derive a high-quality approximate solution to this DRMIC problem for a rich class of Wasserstein metric-based ambiguity sets, including the Wasserstein ambiguity set and its variants. In theory, we analyze the asymptotic performance and establish a tight non-asymptotic bound of the proposed method. In numerical experiments, the proposed DR-LCP method empirically demonstrates superior performance compared with existing methods in the literature. © 2025, CC BY.

The proliferation of misinformation in today's digital era poses significant challenges, with fake news detection becoming critical to mitigate economic losses and social instability. Despite extensive research efforts, most existing approaches are tailored for single-domain fake news detection, struggling with data distribution discrepancies and domain shifts when applied to multi-domain scenarios. This limitation underscores the urgent need for solutions that address the complexities of cross-domain detection. Here, we propose a novel framework MFGAG that synergistically integrates adversarial networks and graph neural networks with emotional, stylistic, and semantic features to enable precise domain localization. By leveraging these features, the framework effectively models intricate relationships among news articles within the same temporal context, addressing the challenges posed by multi-domain datasets. Experimental evaluations demonstrate that our approach outperforms state-of-the-art methods, achieving an average accuracy improvement of 3.3 percentage points for single-domain news and nearly 1 percentage point for mixed-domain data, culminating in an overall accuracy of 93.1 %. Anomalies are usually regarded as data errors or novel patterns previously unseen, which are quite different from most observed data. Accurate detection of anomalies is crucial in various application scenarios. This paper focuses on unsupervised anomaly detection from Multivariate Time Series (MTS), as real-world data collected from sources such as wearable devices, medical equipment and industrial machines typically manifest as MTS and are often unlabeled. Anomaly detection in MTS represents a data-driven challenge that traditionally requires substantial centralized data for training models. However, in practice, data are frequently distributed among multiple institutions, with privacy concerns restricting unrestricted access. To address these issues, we introduce Feature Decoupling Federated Learning (FDFL), an approach designed to collaboratively train a representation learning network over multiple clients for unsupervised anomaly detection in MTS. Unlike previous methods that simply integrate MTS anomaly detection algorithms with federated learning strategies, FDFL specifically addresses heterogeneity among clients by decoupling the representation network into shared and private branches through a contrastive learning mechanism. This method aggregates shared parameters during each federated round while maintaining client-specific private parameters locally. Additionally, we develop a self-attention block that integrates the representations derived from both shared and private parameters to reconstruct MTS and identify anomalies based on reconstruction errors. Extensive experiments conducted on three publicly available datasets demonstrate that FDFL outperforms existing algorithms in most cases, highlighting the effectiveness and superiority of our proposed method in MTS anomaly detection. © 2020 IEEE.

This paper proposes a Risk-Averse Just-In-Time (RAJIT) operation scheme for Ammonia-Hydrogen-based Micro-Grids (AHMGs) to boost electricity-hydrogen-ammonia coupling under uncertainties. First, an off-grid AHMG model is developed, featuring a novel multi-mode ammonia synthesis process and a hydrogen-ammonia dual gas turbine with tunable feed-in ratios. Subsequently, a state-behavior mapping strategy linking hydrogen storage levels with the operation modes of ammonia synthesis is established to prevent cost-ineffective shutdowns. The proposed model substantially improves operational flexibility but results in a challenging nonlinear fractional program. Based upon this model, a data-driven RAJIT scheme is developed for the real-time rolling optimization of AHMGs. Unlike conventional one-size-fits-all schemes using one optimization method throughout, the data-driven RAJIT intelligently switches between cost-effective deterministic optimization and risk-averse online-learning distributionally robust optimization depending on actual risk profiles, thus capitalizing on the respective strengths of these two optimization methods. To facilitate the solution of the resulting nonlinear program, we develop an equivalent-reformulation-based solution methodology by leveraging a constraint-tightening technique. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme guarantees safety and yields an overall cost reduction up to 14.6% compared with several state-of-the-art methods. © 2025 IEEE.
