We design a complete platform of wireless acoustic sensor network, featuring with compressive sampling and adaptive sampling. The compressive sampling is a new theory that combines sampling and compression into a single linear measurement process. It captures signals at a rate significantly below the Nyquist rate, and recovers exactly the original signals using convex optimization or greedy algorithm. In addition, we adopt an adaptive sampling scheme, in which the sampling rates can be changed with the running stages. The detective stage works at a lower rate than the monitoring stage. There is only one sensor node running at monitoring stage for the interested event. Through experiments, we illustrate that the wireless acoustic sensor network we built achieves dramatic low sampling rate and utilizes the network bandwidth much more effective.

An assembly line balancing method based on Genetic algorithm (GA) and visual simulation is proposed for the assembly line dynamic balancing in order to take into account more factors in addition to the implicit factors. Firstly, the assembly line virtual digital model is created based on systematic layout planning (SLP). Secondly, the GA for solving assembly line dynamic balancing is presented on the conditions that minimize the number of stations and the tasks assigned to a set of workstations with the same cycle time. In the view of assembly line visual modelling and simulation, the visual simulation based on eM-plant is adopted. This system framework and simulation process is discussed. The assembly line balancing system is developed based on the object-oriented language VC++6.0 with the access database. The gear-box assembly line case is studied by using this system. The results showed the method is valid and effective. It can be used to provide the technology support for improving the production efficiency and redesigning the assembly line for the manufacturing plant.

This paper considers the guaranteed cost control problem for a class of uncertain discrete T-S fuzzy systems with time delay and a given quadratic cost function. Sufficient conditions for the existence of such controllers are derived based on the linear matrix inequalities (LMI) approach by constructing a specific nonquadratic Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and a nonlinear PDC-like control law. A convex optimization problem is also formulated to select the optimal guaranteed cost controller that minimizes the upper bound of the closed-loop cost function. Finally, numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.

This paper attempts to obtain insight about the effect of modal interaction of higher than 2 nd order in small-signal analysis, through evaluating the effect of 3 rd order modal interaction. The indices that quantify the 3 rd order modal interaction are defined, following the modal analysis procedures used in linear modal analysis and second order modal analysis. Numerical simulation results demonstrates that, there are definitely modal interaction higher than 2 nd order, and with further higher order modal analysis, it is possible to detect more information about modal interaction, which might be useful in power system control.

This paper reports part of the results in the project to develop an on-load de-icing system. In the system, a high frequency high voltage excitation with adjustable frequency, is used to de-ice the ice covered on long power transmission line. The system is highly efficient in de-icing due to the joint heating effect brought by transmission line loss and dielectric loss. The mathematical model of the system is developed. And on the basis of analysis and numerical simulation results, an adaptive scheme is designed. In the system, networked sensors are deployed to monitor the ice condition on transmission line, and on-line regulate the frequency of the high-voltage excitation according to the monitored ice information, to ensure that there is no severe ice-covering spot on long transmission line.

A sliding mode control scheme is presented in αβframe for grid-side PWM rectifiers in wind power generation systems. The positive and negative sequence voltages are needed to design the controller, nevertheless, the positive and negative sequence currents are not needed. This scheme is compared with the dual current control scheme in the rotating frame d-q. The analysis of higher order modal interaction attracts much attention from scholars all over the world. The normal form theory and the modal series method offer new ideas for solving these problems. However, literature review and simulation show that modal analysis for a certain case with these approaches may obtain different results. In this paper, the currently available methods are integrated into a tool PSMAT (power system modal analysis tool), so that one can compare the results with different approaches, and then select the most appropriate method for his analysis purpose. The developed tool has all the functionalities in modal analysis as well as the quantitative indices. The design of the tool is described and case studies are presented. The results obtained with this tool are discussed. It is verified that this tool is effective, in both modal analysis and comparison of the approaches.
