Metasurfaces are opening up promising flexibilities to reshape the wavefront of electromagnetic waves, and a notable optical phenomenon is observed with the tailored surface plasmon. However, meta-devices with metallic material face challenges of low transmission efficiency, especially in the visible spectrum. In this work, a multilayer metamaterial strategy is proposed to improve the transmission. By adding dielectric material as space layer is inserted along the propagation direction, vertical cavities are formed to modulate the transmission and reflection. The multilayer structure is numerically studied to discuss the transmission efficiency. A maximum transmission efficiency of 90% is achieved by adding a spin on glass material to the silver layer at the visible spectrum. The transmission efficiency with and without space layer is discussed as a control. Significantly, the surface plasma and the phase could still be modulated by adjusting the geometrical parameters of the multilayer metamaterial for diversified functionalities. © 2024 SPIE.

Mining gearboxes are mechanical devices used to reduce rotational speed and increase torque, widely utilized in mining and heavy industrial equipment. To further understand the research progress and development trends in the field of fault diagnosis for mining gearboxes, a clustering and visualization analysis of English literature was conducted using the Web of Science database and the CiteSpace method. The analysis revealed that the performance and reliability of gearboxes have consistently been focal points for researchers, with a significant community of authors contributing to this field. The co-occurrence and clustering of keywords indicated that the research content is concentrated on fault diagnosis and optimization design. Moreover, the field is evolving towards intelligent diagnostics. Future development trends should focus on the introduction of data-driven and knowledge-guided artificial intelligence algorithm models and explainable intelligent diagnostic technologies. © The Institution of Engineering & technology 2024.

To improve the stability control capability of distributed electric drive vehicles on rough road surfaces, a hierarchical stability control strategy that considers road interference is proposed. In the upper-level controller, a new rollover energy stability index based on the energy method is designed. An enhanced sliding mode controller is employed to simultaneously control the yaw rate and the center-of-mass side slip angle as the control objectives. The sliding mode theory determines the additional yaw moment required for maintaining vehicle stability under road disturbances. The lower-level controller designs an optimal torque distribution strategy to allocate the yaw torque output, generated by the upper-level controller, to each wheel for achieving vehicle stability control. Joint simulations are conducted using CARSIM and MATLAB/Simulink to perform simulation experiments. The results demonstrate that this control method effectively enhances the stable steering control of distributed electric drive vehicles on rough roads, reduces the risk of vehicle sideslip and rollover during steering, and improves driving safety. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

In response to the issue of poor real-time performance caused by the large computational load of feature-based methods, this paper proposed an RGB-D visual SLAM algorithm which integrates optical flow and feature-based methods. This algorithm combined optical flow with the feature-based method, effectively improving the real-time performance of the algorithm while maintaining high precision. Firstly, keyframes are matched using feature-based methods, and camera motion is computed by minimizing the reprojection error. For non-keyframes, keypoints are extracted without computing descriptors and tracked using the optical flow pyramid, and pose estimation is achieved by minimizing the photometric error. Secondly, a dual mechanism based on time and space is employed to execute keyframes insertion which ensures tracking stability. Additionally, an adaptive threshold algorithm is proposed to enhance tracking robustness in low-light environments. Experimental results on the TUM dataset indicated that, with comparable average localization accuracy, the proposed algorithm reduces average tracking cost by 37.19%, achieving real-time frame rates of up to 45 fps on mid-to-low-performance CPUs. © 2024 IEEE.

In energy generation,aerospace,and other related industries,high-temperature acceleration sensing is an essential tool for diagnostic testing,troubleshooting,and quality ***,commercial acceleration sensors have a maximum operating temperature of no more than 550℃.The study of high-temperature piezoelectric ceramics is important for increasing the operating temperature of *** this work,high-temperature Bi_(2)Mo_(x)W_(1−x)O_(6)(BW)piezoelectric ceramics were prepared,and an all-mechanical center compression high-temperature acceleration sensor was designed and *** results show that when the doping ratio is x=0.001,the ceramic sample has the best performance:the relative density of 92%,the piezoelectric coefficient(d33)of 15 pC·N^(−1),the quality factor(Q_(m))of 1642,the dielectric constant(ε)of 307(1 kHz),and the dielectric loss(tanδ)of 0.33(1 kHz).With increasing B-doped Mo^(6+)content,the Curie temperatures of the ceramics are 975,966,961,and 967℃and the high-temperature annealing temperatures are 975,975,950,and 950°C,*** to tests of temperature performance,the developed BW high-temperature sensor has a good linear response and *** room temperature,a BW high-temperature piezoelectric sensor can be used stably within 1 kHz,and the average sensitivity is 3.259 pC·g^(−1).At 800℃,this device can be used in the frequency range of 0.1–1.1 kHz,and the average sensitivity is 3.305 pC·g^(−1);the linearity is greater than 0.99,and the sensitivity deviation is 1.4%.

A model predictive control (MPC) strategy is devised to handle the issue of multi-actuators partial failure faults of quadrotor vehicles. Firstly, considering a quadrotor system with actuator partial failure faults and unknown disturbances, the quadrotor dynamics model is analyzed and established. Then, the MPC attitude fault-tolerant controller is devised to transform the issue of controlling the attitude angle of a quadrotor into a quadratic programming solution problem, and the extended state observer (ESO) is devised to evaluate the faults and perturbations, which highly and greatly improves the system's suppression capability against disturbances. Finally, numerical simulation experiments demonstrate the scheme's fault-tolerance to actuator faults and its ability to suppress unknown perturbations, while the results of semi-physical simulation experiments also prove that the method is effective and feasible. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

An optimal configuration method of a multi-energy microgrid system based on the deep joint generation of sourceload-temperature scenarios is proposed to improve the multienergy complementation and the reliability of energy supply in extreme ***,based on the historical meteorological data,the typical meteorological clusters and extreme temperature types are ***,to reflect the uncertainty of energy consumption and renewable energy output in different weather types,a deep joint generation model using a radiation-electric load-temperature scenario based on a denoising variational autoencoder is established for each weather *** the same time,to cover the potential high energy consumption scenarios with extreme temperatures,the extreme scenarios with fewer data samples are ***,the scenarios are reduced by clustering *** normal days of different typical scenarios and extreme temperature scenarios are determined,and the cooling and heating loads are determined by ***,the optimal configuration of a multi-energy microgrid system is carried *** show that the optimal configuration based on the extreme scenarios and typical scenarios can improve the power supply reliability of the *** proposed method can accurately capture the complementary potential of energy *** the economy of the system configuration is improved by 14.56%.

Optimal Configuration of Fault Location measurement Points in DC Distribution Networks Based on Improved Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm

The escalating deployment of distributed power sources and random loads in DC distribution networks hasamplified the potential consequences of faults if left uncontrolled. To expedite the process of achieving an optimalconfiguration of measurement points, this paper presents an optimal configuration scheme for fault locationmeasurement points in DC distribution networks based on an improved particle swarm optimization ***, a measurement point distribution optimization model is formulated, leveraging compressive *** model aims to achieve the minimum number of measurement points while attaining the best compressivesensing reconstruction effect. It incorporates constraints from the compressive sensing algorithm and networkwide viewability. Subsequently, the traditional particle swarm algorithm is enhanced by utilizing the Haltonsequence for population initialization, generating uniformly distributed individuals. This enhancement reducesindividual search blindness and overlap probability, thereby promoting population diversity. Furthermore, anadaptive t-distribution perturbation strategy is introduced during the particle update process to enhance the globalsearch capability and search speed. The established model for the optimal configuration of measurement points issolved, and the results demonstrate the efficacy and practicality of the proposed method. The optimal configurationreduces the number of measurement points, enhances localization accuracy, and improves the convergence speedof the algorithm. These findings validate the effectiveness and utility of the proposed approach.

Mars surface detection is a challenging task that takes into account environmental factors such as terrain complexity, ground flatness, rock distribution, geological features, and storms. In this paper, we address the complexity of rock distribution on the surface of Mars and the resource-constrained difficulties of intelligences in performing the task, and propose the Yolov7-MFGC model on top of Yolov7, which solves the problems of existing rock detection models in terms of large computational load and number of parameters, as well as resource constraints in a specific environment. In this paper, we use a homemade Mars surface rock dataset for training and testing, and the test results show that Yolov7-MFGC improves the accuracy by 1.7%, reduces the amount of parameters by 49%, shrinks the model volume by 49.6%, and reduces the GFLOPS by 70% compared with Yolov7. Therefore, it can be concluded that Yolov7-MFGC is able to better perform the Mars surface rock detection task. © The Institution of Engineering & technology 2024.

With the rapid advancement of industrial technology, the structure of transmission systems has become increasingly complex, posing more severe challenges to their real-time monitoring and anomaly detection systems. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a novel comprehensive transmission sequence anomaly detection method. Firstly, the method employs Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) to select the most relevant temporal features for precise identification of the anomaly detection target variables. Subsequently, Piecewise Aggregate Approximation (PAA) is utilized for effective dimensionality reduction of the time series data to simplify the subsequent processing steps. Finally, by integrating Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), a deep anomaly detection model is constructed to identify abnormal states efficiently. An example analysis of time series anomaly detection in transmission system oil leakage demonstrates the significant advantages of this method in improving the accuracy and efficiency of anomaly detection. The results indicate that this method can provide a new, reliable, and efficient technical solution for anomaly detection in complex transmission systems. © The Institution of Engineering & technology 2024.
