A development and application of maintainability evaluation system using immersive VR

Immersing into virtual reality (VR) is a perception of being physically present in a non-physical world. Using immersive VR in maintenance brings great conveniences. For example, using virtual human operating in hazardous environment before the real person, which can prevent being hurt. In this paper, a system of immersive virtual maintenance (IVM) is presented. It is divided into three parts. The first part is Input, which contains the maintenance task and maintenance design. The second part is Method, with which making the virtual human and the users act in a unified way. The key to build IVM system is the interface between the motion capture system and virtual simulation software. The third part is Output, which presents the maintainability evaluation results. This paper focuses on how to build IVM system, the difficulties and solutions also be detailed. At last, a simple application is given

Layered carbides and borides, blending ceramic and metallic properties, offer great promise for future nuclear reactor applications due to their complex nanolaminate crystal structure. We conducted a comprehensive investigation to understand the profound effects of He ion irradiation on polycrystalline Fe2AlB2 samples exposed to varying fluences and temperatures, emulating conditions akin to future nuclear reactors, highlighting the study's critical *** at room temperature triggers significant changes in lattice parameters: the a-lattice parameter expands, while the c-lattice parameter contracts, leading to an amorphous layer. After annealing at 400°C, the amorphous structure persists, whereas annealing at 800°C initiates complete recrystallization, accompanied by bubble growth. Conversely, irradiation at 400°C with the same fluence results in smaller bubbles without an amorphous layer. DBS analysis reveals rapid growth of vacancy-type defects during irradiation at 400°C, surpassing the rate observed at room temperature before annealing. Under irradiation at 700°C, faceted bubbles develop exclusively within Fe2AlB2, with no such bubbles in Al2O3. These faceted bubbles align themselves along (110) planes. Simultaneously, irradiation prompts tangled dislocations within the damaged layer, fostering the congregation of polygonal bubbles along GBs, along with the creation of denuded areas at ***, Fe2AlB2 demonstrates remarkable oxidation resistance under high-temperature irradiation, maintaining surface stability without the cracks seen in ion-irradiated Ti3SiC2 and Ti2AlC at room *** findings firmly establish Fe2AlB2 as a robust leader in nuclear materials science, showcasing outstanding irradiation resilience, encouraging further exploration for reactor applications operating below 500°C. © 2023, The Authors. To address the severe challenge of increasing fluctuations in supply and demand due to the expansion of new energy installations, this paper proposes a hierarchical optimization control strategy for electric fused magnesia loads participating in peak shav ing, guided by a price compensation mechanism. In the upper-layer system control, a price mechanism is designed to enhance the flexibility of electric fused magnesia loads in participating in peak shaving, considering the overall benefit of the system. In the lower-layer enterprise net profit optimization model, the product revenue, demand response income, operation and maintenance costs, and carbon emission costs of the electric fused magnesia enterprise are balanced to ensure the maximization of the enterprise’s net profit. Finally, numerical examples are used to verify the effectiveness of this method in improving the system's peak shaving capability.

Quantum Hall systems host chiral edge states extending along the one-dimensional boundary of any two-dimensional sample. In solid state materials, the edge states serve as perfectly robust transport channels that produce a quantised Hall conductance;due to their chirality, and the topological protection by the Chern number of the bulk bandstructure, they cannot be spatially localized by defects or disorder. Here, we show experimentally that the chiral edge states of a lossy quantum Hall system can be localized. In a gyromagnetic photonic crystal exhibiting the quantum Hall topological phase, an appropriately structured loss configuration imparts the edge states’ complex energy spectrum with a feature known as point-gap winding. This intrinsically non-Hermitian topological invariant is distinct from the Chern number invariant of the bulk (which remains intact) and induces mode localization via the "non-Hermitian skin effect". The interplay of the two topological phenomena – the Chern number and point-gap winding – gives rise to a non-Hermitian generalisation of the paradigmatic Chern-type bulk-boundary correspondence principle. Compared to previous realisations of the non-Hermitian skin effect, the skin modes in this system have superior robustness against local defects and disorders. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. XLPE cable health assessment based on Relief-F feature weighted FSVM

For the cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable health status assessment process, there are noise data for each feature parameter and the importance of each dimension feature is difficult to determine, which leads to deviations in the cable status assessment results. An XLPE cable health assessment algorithm based on Relief-F feature weighted fuzzy support vector machine is proposed. The Relief-F algorithm is used to calculate the importance of each dimension feature. The feature quantity that is weakly related to the evaluation of the health status of the XLPE cable is deleted. Furthermore, the fuzzy support vector machine is used to evaluate the health status of the XLPE cable, which gives the noise data a smaller degree of membership and reduces the influence of the noise data on the evaluation results. Experimental analysis shows that this method can accurately assess the health status of XLPE cables. It can provide a reference value for relevant departments to carry out cable maintenance and replacement work and save the human resources, and material resources required for maintenance and replacement of cables.

Prediction of dissolved gas in power transformer oil based on LSTM-GA

Because the change process of the content of dissolved gas in transformer oil is fluctuating and is affected by many factors such as oil temperature and external environment, the gas content does not increase exponentially and is nonlinear and non-stationary. This feature determines the current Prediction technology cannot accurately predict the concentration of dissolved gas in transformer oil. To improve the prediction accuracy of the dissolved gas content in the transformer oil, more accurately evaluate the transformer status and customize the entire preventive plan under the alarming development trend of the transformer, to minimize the prediction error, this paper proposes a transformer combining genetic algorithm and long short-term memory (LSTM)neural network Prediction model of dissolved gas content in oil. The genetic algorithm (GA) is used to optimize look back(lb), lstm nets(ls), epochs(ep), and the dropout(dp), and then the genetic algorithm is combined with the long short-term memory neural network. The gas content is predicted. This model overcomes the problem of low prediction accuracy caused by selecting parameters based on experience. The analysis result of the calculation example shows that compared with the traditional prediction algorithm, the proposed method can better track the change law of the dissolved gas concentration in the oil, improve the prediction accuracy, and provide a strong guarantee for the safe and stable operation of power transformers.

Subpixel localization techniques for estimating the positions of point-like images captured by pixelated image sensors have been widely used in diverse optical measurement fields. With unavoidable imaging noise, there is a precision limit(PL) when estimating the target positions on image sensors, which depends on the detected photon count, noise, point spread function(PSF) radius, and PSF's intra-pixel *** studies have clearly reported the effects of the first three parameters on the PL but have neglected the intra-pixel position information. Here, we develop a localization PL analysis framework for revealing the effect of the intra-pixel position of small PSFs. To accurately estimate the PL in practical applications, we provide effective PSF(e PSF) modeling approaches and apply the Cramér–Rao lower bound. Based on the characteristics of small PSFs, we first derive simplified equations for finding the best PL and the best intra-pixel region for an arbitrary small PSF; we then verify these equations on real PSFs. Next, we use the typical Gaussian PSF to perform a further analysis and find that the final optimum of the PL is achieved at the pixel boundaries when the Gaussian radius is as small as possible, indicating that the optimum is ultimately limited by light diffraction. Finally, we apply the maximum likelihood method. Its combination with e PSF modeling allows us to successfully reach the PL in experiments, making the above theoretical analysis effective. This work provides a new perspective on combining image sensor position control with PSF engineering to make full use of information theory, thereby paving the way for thoroughly understanding and achieving the final optimum of the PL in optical localization.

There exist some obstacles to realize high-precision positioning with using the position differential technique due to the limiting factors. However, with the advancement of chip performance and the establishment of multiple satellite navigation systems, position differential positioning can be realized to meet the civilian high-precision positioning demand while significantly reducing costs. This paper is to explore the engineering application and propose a new method. Through the experiments and data analysis, we have found the error correlation between two receivers in a small area and designed a set of positioning system, and programmed in the Keil μVision5 in C language. The system consists of the current mainstream low-cost STM32, UBLOX NEO 6M chip, NRF24L01 chip, GPS antenna and power supply module. Each two receivers can form a differential positioning system. At present, the system in the low-speed status is, in the urban environment, basically reaching within 0.5 - 3 m of the positioning error.

Effects of different post mortem chilling technologies on chilled pork color and quality classification

The objectives of this article were to study on effects of the conventional chilling method(45 min post mortem, (3 ± 0. 5)°C, 0. 4 m/s, air chilling for 24 h) and the two-stage rapid chilling method (35 min post mortem, - 20°C, 2 m/s, air chilling for 1. 5 h;(3 ± 0. 5)°C, 0. 4 m/s, air chilling for 22. 5 h) on chilled pork color and quality grading. pH value, temperatures, instrumental color features (L*, a *, b* ) and sensory color scores of chilled pork were measured to determine the correlations among them and make quality grading. The results showed that for the conventional chilling method, T45min was correlated (p less than or equal 0. 01) with pH45min( - 0. 37), L* (0.45) and color score ( - 0. 39) and color score was most significantly correlated (p less than or equal 0.01) with L* ( - 0. 80);the percentage of PSE pork was 18. 6% and those of RFN pork and DFD pork were 80. 4% and 1.0%, respectively. For the two-stage rapid chilling method, temperatures of chilled pork at the early post mortem time were significantly reduced (p less than or equal 0. 05) and pH values dropped slowly;the percentage of PSE pork was reduced to 12. 0% and that of RFN pork was increased to 87. 0%, that of DFD pork was still 1. 0%. The results indicated the two-stage rapid chilling method could improve chilled pork color, thus improve pork quality.

With the deployment of wide-area measurement systems (WAMS) equipment, dynamic security assessment (DSA) based on artificial intelligence (AI) has more and more advantages. For the power system, the number of transient stable cases is much larger than that of unstable cases, which leads to insufficient learning of unstable cases and affects the evaluation effect of the model. In addition, during the stability assessment process of the power system, the misjudgment cost of unstable case is much higher than that of stable case. Based on the above two points, we proposed a DSA method of power system based on improved XGBoost. The proposed method introduces the weight adjustment factor into the loss function to balance the quantity variance of two type cases and the difference of misjudgment cost, which greatly reduces the misjudgment rate of unstable samples. The test results on IEEE 16-machine 68-bus test system and IEEE 50-machine 145-bus test system show that the proposed method can have higher recognition of the unstable samples and can be applied to DSA.
