Research on a compact and high sensitivity gas pressure sensor based on fiber Fabry-Pérot interferometer and Bragg grating

A compact and highly sensitive gas pressure and temperature sensor based on Fabry-Pérot interferometer (FPI) and fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is proposed and demonstrated experimentally in this paper. The theoretical model for pressure and temperature sensing is established. Building on this foundation, a novel micro silicon cavity sensor structure sensitive to pressure is devised downstream of an FBG. The concept of separate measurement and the mechanisms enhancing pressure sensitivity are meticulously analyzed, and the corresponding samples are fabricated. The experimental results indicate that the pressure sensitivity of the sensor is −747.849 nm/MPa in 0–100 kPa and its linearity is 99.7% and it maintains good stability in 150 min. The sensor offers the advantages of compact size, robust construction, easy fabrication, and high sensitivity, making it potentially valuable for micro-pressure application. © Tianjin University of technology 2025.

Terahertz time-of-flight tomography algorithm for different curvature samples

Traditional guide rail-based terahertz reflection tomography works well with planar samples and complements transmission tomography. Most imaging methods perform effectively with plane-like or simple curvature samples. However, these methods are ineffective for complex shapes due to the challenges of dealing with internal corrections and stitching errors. To address the above issues, terahertz time-of-flight tomography is applied to the prepared samples with abnormal curvature using a rotating scanning array and "point cloud splicing" method. This approach enables comprehensive sample information collection and resolves the inner layer point cloud position correction challenge. A radial distance point cloud down-sampling method is proposed to reduce the impact of overlapping point clouds on reconstruction accuracy. After down-sampling, the outer layer reconstruction error reduces to 0.22%. Poisson surface reconstruction further enhances the intuitiveness of imaging results, and the reconstruction accuracy is 0.01 mm. This study broadens the application of terahertz time-of-flight tomography and offers a different approach for reflection tomography. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group under the terms of the Optica Open Access Publishing Agreement.

Data-Driven Prediction of Coefficient of Friction in Wet Friction Components: A Model Development and Interpretability Analysis

Predicting the coefficient of friction (COF) is essential for enhancing the efficiency and reliability of mechanical systems. Nevertheless, traditional mechanistic models relying on fixed values or fitted curves fail to accurately capture this complexity. To address this issue, this paper proposes a model for predicting the COF of wet friction components using an extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) algorithm optimized by the sparrow search algorithm (SSA). This model effectively captures the nonlinear relationships among relative speed, pressure, temperature, and COF. As a result, the proposed SSA-XGBoost model exhibits excellent predictive performance with a root mean square error (RMSE) of only 0.063, and 88.3% of the COF predictions have a relative error of less than 1%, significantly outperforming other deep-learning algorithms. Additionally, to enhance the understanding of the COF prediction results for wet friction components, the SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) model is used to explore the influence of relative speed, pressure, and temperature on the predicted COF values. Abnormal Data Identification and Reconstruction Based on Wind Speed Characteristics

High availability of wind power data is the basis for wind power research, but there are a large number of abnormal data in actual collected data, which seriously affects analysis of wind power law and reduces prediction accuracy. Measured power data of wind farm are analyzed, influence of wind speed fluctuation characteristics on wind power is discussed, and abnormal points are identified for data of different wind types. The Cluster-Based Local Outlier Factor (CLOF) algorithm based on K-means is used to identify outlier abnormal points, and conditional constraints based on physical background are used to identify accumulation abnormal points. Reconstructed data segment is divided according to fluctuation of wind speed. The Bidirectional Gate Recurrent Unit (BiGRU) model with wind speed as input reconstructs fluctuation segment data, and bi-directional weighted random forest model reconstructs stationary segment data. Based on analysis of measured data of a wind farm, results show the method can effectively identify various abnormal data, and complete high-quality reconstruction of data, thereby improving accuracy of wind power prediction.

Green anti-solvent modulation of the growth of binary FAXMA1-X tin-based perovskite and their photovoltaic properties

Tin-based perovskite represents a highly promising alternative to lead-based perovskite, offering a number of significant advantages. These include non-toxicity, high absorbance, and excellent photovoltaic properties. The use of the toxic anti-solvent chlorobenzene (CBZ) in the preparation of tin-based perovskite thin films has the dual disadvantage of increasing the environmental hazards and the cost of subsequent treatment. The use of acetic acid (HAc) as a green anti-solvent has been demonstrated to effectively regulate the crystallization process of tin-based perovskite FASnI3, resulting in the preparation of perovskite films of superior quality. To further enhance the performance of tin-based perovskite, Zhao et al., organic cation mixing was used to add MAI to the FASnI3 system and optimize the ratio, resulting in an optimal ratio of FA (0.75) MA (0.25) (FA = NH2CH = NH2+, MA = CH3NH3+) (Zhao et al. Adv Sci 4(11):1700204, 2024). In this study, we choose the crystallization process during the preparation of binary FA0.75MA0.25SnI3 perovskite using a green anti-solvent HAc. The findings demonstrated that HAc was capable of influencing the crystallization of binary tin-based perovskite, facilitating the formation of perovskite films with minimal pinholes and enhanced uniformity and crystallinity. Additionally, the resulting perovskite exhibits a band gap of 1.35 eV, which is in close alignment with the predicted ideal band gap as postulated by Schottky's theory. Furthermore, it displays enhanced hydrophobic properties. In the binary perovskite photovoltaic device prepared using the anti-solvent HAc, the maximum device efficiency reached 3.62%. The findings of this study will contribute to the understanding of the crystallization process of diverse perovskite materials in the presence of a green anti-solvent.

Curve-Suppression-Based Event-Triggered Mechanisms for Quasi-Synchronization of Fuzzy Delayed Neural Networks on Time Scales

The vast majority of published event-triggered mechanisms (ETMs) are constructed based on measurement errors, which introduces a problem naturally that they are updated when the measurement errors exceed the thresholds although the current obtained sampling states can make systems converge well. With this problem in mind, we redesign ETMs for quasi-synchronization of T-S fuzzy neural networks (FNNs) with time delays on time scales. First, a novel ETM is designed for continuous-time FNNs with time-varying delays to achieve quasi-synchronization, with which synchronization errors is suppressed to globally exponentially converge to a ball. Second, we introduce the ETM for continuous-time FNNs to discrete-time FNNs, owing to the existence of discrete-time states, the Lypunov function of synchronization errors run over the exponentially decay curve, but it can be suppressed to evolve under another exponentially decay curve. Third, for FNNs on time scales with constant and time-varying delays, we estimate the forward jump operator of the Lyapunov functions and design ETMs to guarantee that the Lypunov functions evolve under the exponentially decay curves, so quasi-synchronization can be achieved. Last but not least, we prove that Zeno behavior will not happen and four numerical examples are introduced to verify the validity and the superiority of the proposed ETMs in reducing information transmission. © 2013 IEEE.

Infrared image and circular polarization image processing methods for high-concentration scattering environments

In high-concentration scattering media, low contrast often obscures the surface details and textures of target objects. This paper proposes a method to enhance imaging quality under such conditions using polarization imaging theory. The method involves image registration, estimation of environmental transmittance, calculation of the degree of polarization and polarization difference intensity, and application of the CLAHE method to improve detail visibility and obtain de-scattered images. Finally, a weighted adaptive wavelet transform based on edge detection fuses the de-scattered and infrared images. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms traditional approaches, particularly in high-concentration scattering environments, offering insights into combining infrared and polarized imaging for challenging scenarios. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group. For the problem of optimal shielding design of metal shielding enclosures in complex environments, multi-layer cylindrical metal enclosures is modeled and simulated by using simulation software. In the simulation, the shielding effectiveness of the multi-layer enclosures with different diameter-to-length ratios and alternating combinations of different materials is compared and analyzed. The results show that the multi-layer shielding enclosure with optimal shielding effectiveness is composed of stainless steel on the outer layer, silver on the middle layer and permalloy on the inner layer. And the larger the length-diameter ratio of multi-layer cylindrical metal enclosure, the better the shielding effect. The simulation study of electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of multi-layer cylindrical metal enclosures provides support for the study of multi-layer metal shielding enclosures in complex electromagnetic environments. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
