The primary sources of harmonic distortion in the new powersystem are a high percentage of access to power electronic equipment and a high percentage of renewableenergy grid connections. These factors pose a major risk to the UHV converter transformer oil-paper insulation performance. However, the influence law of harmonic voltage on the electric field distribution characteristics (EFDC) of oil-paper insulation is still unclear; thus, the law of variation of spatial maximum electric field strength (SMEFS) under the action of harmonic voltage and the EFDC on the surface of oil-immersed insulating paper are investigated in this paper by building a two-dimensional simulation model of the electric field distribution of oil-paper insulation under ball-plate and cylinder-plate electrode structure. The results indicate that the two electrode structures' SMEFS are situated in the narrow oil gap between the oil-impregnated insulating paper and the high-voltage electrode; under the influence of the same harmonic components, the insulating paper's surface exhibits an inverse power function decay in the electric field distribution, with the cylinder-plate electrode decaying more quickly than the ball-plate electrode. Meanwhile, for both electrode structures, with the increase of the 5th and 13th harmonics, the SMEFS and the insulating paper surface field strength both increase linearly and are higher than that of the power frequency field strength, while for the 7th and 11th harmonics, the ball-plate electrode weakens the electric field and then increases it with the increase of the harmonic content, whereas the cylinder-plate electrode only increases the electric field.

The main causes of harmonic distortion in new powersystems are high percentage renewableenergy grid connections and high percentage power electronic equipment access. These factors pose a serious threat to the ultra-high voltage converter transformers’ ability to perform as oil-paper insulation, and little research has been done on the failure law of oil-paper insulation that takes the effects of harmonic voltage into account. This paper presents the design and construction of a typical oil-paper insulation structure breakdown test platform, as well as the oil-paper insulation breakdown voltage under various frequency and content of harmonic voltage superimposed on the fundamental voltage. The dual parameter WeiBull distribution model is used to investigate the oil-paper insulation failure law under the influence of various harmonic voltage components. The experimental results show that the breakdown voltage of oil-paper insulation significantly decreases relative to the breakdown voltage of power frequency under the action of harmonic voltages with different frequencies and contents, and all follow a dual parameter WeiBull probability distribution. Among them, the minimum $\boldsymbol{U}_{63.2 \%}$ is about 13.47 kV when the 7 th and 11th harmonic voltage are superimposed, and the minimum $U_{63.2 \%}$ is about 13 kV when the 5th and 13th harmonic voltage are superimposed, which is about $\mathbf{2 3 \%}$ lower than the power frequency. Secondly, the fitting distribution of test data under the action of harmonic voltage of different frequencies and contents is approximately parallel, indicating that the failure mechanism of oil-paper insulation is the same.

Then, based on the proposed optimized configuration method and coordination control strategy, develop a visualization simulation platform for the optimized configuration and coordinated control of thermal energy storage joint frequency modulation using Matlab App Designer.
