We develop a source and mask co-optimization framework incorporating the minimization of edge placement error(EPE)and process variability band(PV Band)into the cost function to compensate simultaneously for the image distortion and the increasingly pronounced lithographic process *** differentiable functions of the EPE and the PV Band are presented,and adaptive gradient methods are applied to break symmetry to escape suboptimal local *** on the initial mask conditions is also *** results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed source and mask optimization approach in pattern fidelity improvement,process robustness enhancement,and almost unaffected performance with random initial masks.

In this paper, we propose a tunable ultra-broadband terahertz absorber based on hybrid gold-graphene resonator to achieve an ultra-broadband, ultra-thin, and tunable metasurface, which has not only the high absorption rate of gold metamaterials but also the tunable properties of graphene metamaterials, compared with the traditional single gold-based and graphene-based methods. By simulating the response frequencies by the finite element method, we found that the absorber achieves a broadband 2.68-7.48 THz range (absorption>80%) absorbance with a relative bandwidth of 94.5%, where the center frequency is f c=5.08THz. The physical mechanism of the absorber was analyzed using the electric field of the surface plasmon resonance, due to the design structure presents periodic geometric symmetry, the polarization angle and large angle incidence both present better advantages. The dynamic tuning of the metamaterial absorber is achieved by changing the Fermi energy level of graphene by adjusting the bias voltage to effectively control the metamaterial absorption intensity and resonant frequency. Our proposed absorber has important application prospects in sensing, optical communication, detection, and optical devices. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

3D Audio Coding Approach Based on Spatial Perception Features

A new three-dimensional(3D) audio coding approach is presented to improve the spatial perceptual quality of 3D audio. Different from other audio coding approaches, the distance side information is also quantified, and the non-uniform perceptual quantization is proposed based on the spatial perception features of the human auditory system, which is named as concentric spheres spatial quantization(CSSQ) method. Comparison results were presented, which showed that a better distance perceptual quality of 3D audio can be enhanced by 5.7%~8.8% through extracting and coding the distance side information comparing with the directional audio coding, and the bit rate of our coding method is decreased of 8.07% comparing with the spatial squeeze surround audio coding.

For Virtual Reality(VR) to be truly immersive, it needs convincing sound to match. Due to the diversity of individual's anthropometric measurements, the individualized customization technology is needed to get convincing sound. In this paper, we proposed a simple and effective method for modeling relationships between anthropometric measurements and Head-related Impulse Response(HRIR). Considering the relationship between anthropometric measurements and different HRIR parts is complicated, we divided the HRIRs into small segments and carried out regression analysis between anthropometric measurements and each segment to establish relationship model. The results of objective simulation and subjective test indicate that the model can generate individualize HRIRs from a series of anthropometric measurements. With the individualized HRIRs, we can get more accurate acoustic localization sense than using non-individualized HRIRs.

Quantum key distribution (QKD), which theoretically provides unconditional secure communication, has developed rapidly in the past decades. However, the practical QKD systems still have vulnerabilities due to device imperfections. Polarization-encoding systems are one of the most important branches in the field of QKD. To date, a variety of polarization-encoding schemes have been proposed to meet the requirements of high speed and robust modulation, but the security analysis of these schemes is often ignored. In this paper, we experimentally and theoretically evaluated the security of three typical polarization encoders against the Trojan horse attack (THA), which is recognized as one of the critical quantum attacks. We built a system to implement the THA and collected the reflection from QKD configuration with different encoders. According to the experimental results, we further analyzed the secure key rate and the resistance against THAs of the system while BB84 or measurement-device-independent QKD was applied. Our paper plays an important guiding role in the design of polarization encoders and the construction of secure QKD systems with realistic devices.

To support high-quality network plan, reliable operation and efficient service provisioning, the quality of transmission estimation (QoT-E) tool, which predicts the penalty of transmission impairments, is highly required. Among these channel impairments, non-linear-interference noise (NLIN) in high-speed, large-capacity and long-reach transmission systems with advanced modulation formats and powerful digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms is complex and difficult to be accurately estimated, thus an precise and practical model of NLIN is desperately desired as one of the key components for QoT-E. Nowadays, 400Gb/s/ch combined with multi-band transmission has become a research hotspot achieving larger capacity without deploying new fibers. However, in this multi-band scenario, the interaction of NLIN with the stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) must be properly considered. In this paper, an equivalent attenuation coefficient assisted enhanced Gaussian noise (EGN) model which considers the impact of SRS on the nonlinear interference in C+L band, is proposed and experimentally verified. The real-time experiments of 400Gb/s/ch transmission system in 11-THz C+L band over 14x75 km G.652 and 14x100 km G.654E fiber links are carried out using coherent transponders modulated with 91.6 GBaud digital sub-carrier multiplexing (DSCM) based probabilistic constellation shaping (PCS) 16QAM format, achieving a net spectral efficiency of 4 bit/s/Hz. The experimental results show that the maximum deviation of NLI induced OSNR penalty at different frequencies across the whole C+L band is found to be less than 0.22 dB. This work could potentially provide an effective and accurate tool for QoT-E estimation in broadband C+L or even multiband systems, paving the way for intelligent management and control of high-capacity and flexible optical networks. © 2022 SPIE.

Mode-pairing quantum key distribution (MP-QKD) is an easy-to-implement scheme that transcends the Pirandola-Laurenza-Ottaviani-Banchi bound without using quantum repeaters. In this paper, we present an improvement of the performance of MP-QKD using an advantage distillation method. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme extends the transmission distance significantly with a channel loss exceeding 7.6 dB. Moreover, the scheme tolerates a maximum quantum bit error rate of 8.9%, which is nearly twice that of the original MP-QKD. In particular, as the system misalignment error increases, the expandable distance of the proposed scheme also increases. The proposed system is expected to promote the practical implementation of MP-QKD in a wide range of applications, particularly in scenarios involving high channel losses and system errors.

In order to solve unit commitment (UC) problem, this paper presents a quick algorithm based on iteratively solving tight continuous relaxations and compact neighborhood search. A tight mixed integer programming with linear objective function (TLO-MIP) formulation for the UC problem is proposed by projecting the output of unit power into [0], [1] and tightening the continuous relaxation twice with the convex hull reformulation (CHR) technique. We use lift-and-project (L&P) technique to compress the continuous relaxation for TLO-MIP iteratively, and obtain a tighter formulation. Solutions can be obtained by solving the relaxations of this tight formulation, and these solutions can be viewed as good approximations for the optimal solutions of the UC problems. A compact neighborhood of current suboptimal solution is used to improve the quality of solutions of UC problems further more. The simulations are carried out based on the test cases with 10 to 100 units and considering one-day scheduling periods. The results show that the TLO-MIP is good tight UC formulation, furthermore, the proposed quick algorithm based on relaxation and neighborhood search can solve large-scale UC problems with excellent performance and high-quality sub-optimal solutions.

The existing stereo video retargeting algorithms commonly use a same methodology to perform resizing without considering different videos with various features, leading to the low quality of reconstructed videos. To address this issue, we propose a stereo video retargeting method based on camera motion classification, which employs different retargeting strategies to rescale stereo videos. We also design an adaptive stereo video classification method which determines the types of camera motion according to the distribution of motion vectors extracted from the left view of stereo videos. Besides, we develop a motion saliency detection method to eliminate the jittering of moving objects during video resizing. Experimental results show that the qualities of retargeted videos produced by our method are significantly superior to those of existing methods.

In order to meet the demand for large-scale magnetic field testing, this paper proposes a D-shaped magneto-refractive photonic crystal fiber (MRPCF) based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) by using the erbium-doped material. By varying the diameter, location, and number of layers of the air holes, the four different Models A, B, C, and D structures are created, and the corresponding magnetic field sensing properties are analyzed. The simulation findings demonstrate that the magnetic field sensitivities of Models A, B, C, and D are 28 pm/mT, 48 pm/mT, 36 pm/mT, and 21 pm/mT, respectively when the magnetic field strength is 5 - 405 mT. Meanwhile, the figure of merit (FOM) of the four MRPCF-SPR sensors is investigated, which have FOMs of 4.8×10-4 mT-1, 6.4×10-4 mT-1, 1.9×10-4 mT-1, 0.9×10-4 mT-1. Model B has high sensitivity and large FOM. It shows that altering the structural design of the fiber can significantly improve the magneto-refractive effect of MRPCF. The proposed MRPCF has numerous uses in the areas of geological research, earthquake and tsunami monitoring, and military navigation. It can also be expected to enable quasi-distributed magnetic field sensing. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
