In this study, the ignition delay times of DME/n-C4H 10 fuel blends (neat DME, 50/50 and neat n-C4H 10) diluted with argon were measured behind reflected shock waves. The experiments were performed in the temperature range of 1250 - 1600 K, at pressure of 2.0 MPa and equivalence ratios from 0.5 to 2.0. A latest kinetic mechanism NUIG Aramco Mech 1.3 was validated against the present ignition data and used to conducted chemical kinetic analysis. Different equivalence-ratio- dependent was exhibited at different temperature regimes for DME, n-C 4H10, and their blend. Fuel flux analysis, sensitive analysis and mole fraction analysis were carried out for understanding the interaction between the ignition chemistries of DME and n-C4H 10. In surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS),it is highly desirable to obtain Raman signals with high sensitivity and reproducibility from noble metal nanoparticle substrates,which remains a great challenge due to the inhomogeneity of the plasmonic coupling that is sensitive to the interparticle *** this work,we report that the interparticle plasmonic coupling could be circumvented by first synthesizing Au/metal or nonmetal oxide heterostructured nanoparticles and then depositing them uniformly onto the substrates,leading to high reproducibility of the Raman *** plasmonic coupling has been found at the Au/oxide interface,which enables high sensitivity of the SERS analysis that accompanies the excellent signal *** different oxides investigated(SiO2,TiO2 and Fe2O3),the Au/Fe2O3 heterostructured nanoparticles demonstrate the highest Raman enhancement *** believe our strategy opens a promising route to fabricate SERS substrates that are capable of sensitively and quantitatively detecting molecules of interest in a much reliable manner.

Estimation of the radiological consequences including the calculation of radiation doses to the exposed population requires numerical evaluation of atmospheric radioactive releases from nuclear facilities under accidental scenarios for implementation of adequate protective and other response actions to prevent or minimize severe deterministic effects and reduce the probability of occurrence of stochastic effects. This paper reviews various state-of-the-art spatial scale atmospheric dispersion models, known as the ATDMs, designed to evaluate atmospheric transport, dispersion, and depositions of radionuclide emissions from release sources. The ATDMs (atmospheric transport, dispersion, and deposition models) reviewed in this paper are FLEXPART, CALPUFF, LADAS, RASCAL, RIMPUFF, and HotSpot. These ATDMs are increasingly applied to perform probabilistic radiological risk assessment, which is one of the IAEA safety requirements for site evaluation of new NPP, and the calculated doses can be used to establish EPZs, an underlying basis of emergency preparedness. The numerical approaches, modeling methodology, advantages, limitations, scope of applications, and research investigations performed using these models in radiological and other environmental impact assessments within their scope of applications are presented. GIS has been widely recognized as a technique applied to aid the modeling of pollutant dispersion and visualization of model outputs in a spatial context, among other benefits. In nuclear accident consequence evaluation, spatial data provides key information such as accident location, range of radiological contamination, population density, etc, which are very important. This demonstrates the high significance of GIS-ATDMs coupling. Therefore, an overview of the coupling of dispersion models with GIS is also highlighted. © 2025 Xi'an Jiaotong University

Study on the thermal and geometrical parameters of helical coil once-through steam generator system

Due to the special structure, helical coil once-through steam generators (HCOTSGs) can withstand greater thermal expansion stress, have a larger heat exchange area, and cause the secondary flow phenomenon to improve the heat transfer capacity. Thus, it is inevitable to further study the thermal-hydraulic characteristics of the HCOTSG, a vital component of reactors. The optimal physical models were selected for different heat transfer areas by detailed investigation and comparison, to adopt in the TACS, a self-developed thermal-hydraulic analysis code that is accurate and widely-used in HCOTSG simulation. After verification with experiments of Santini, taking the IRIS reactor as the object, the TACS was employed to briefly study the thermal-hydraulic performances of the HCOTSG system at first, and then discuss the influences of thermal and geometric parameters on the HCOTSG. The analysis results showed that: the variation of the primary flow rate greatly affects the heat transfer coefficient of the primary side, while the maximum value of the heat transfer coefficient of the secondary side only changes drastically with the secondary flow rate;when the primary side flow drops to 70%, superheated steam is not generated on the secondary side;when the secondary mass flow rate decreases to a certain extent, the steam superheat degree increases by a small amplitude;the primary side inlet temperature has a little influence on the primary temperature difference, but significant influence on the two-phase zone length of the secondary side;the secondary inlet temperature has very little influence on the HCOTSG system;the inner diameter and the outer diameter of helical tubes have obvious influences, while the helical diameter has not. © 2021 Xi'an Jiaotong University

Modulating redox transition kinetics by anion regulation in Ni-Fe-X(X=O,S,Se,N,and P)electrocatalyst for efficient water oxidation

NiFe-based electrocatalysts will experience dynamical surface reconstruction during oxygen evolution reaction(OER)process,and the derived metal(oxy)hydroxide hybrids on the surface have been considered as the actual active species for *** efforts have been dedicated to understanding the surface reconstruction,but there is rare research on recognizing the origin of improved performance derived from anion species of ***,the OER electrocatalytic characteristics were tuned with different anions in NiFe-based catalyst,using NiFe-based oxides/nitride/sulfide/selenides/phosphides(NiFeX,X=O,N,S,Se,and P)as the model *** combination of X-ray photoelectronic spectroscopy,electrochemical tests,operando spectroscopic characterizations,and density functional theory(DFT)calculations,reveals that anion with lower electronegativity in NiFe-based catalyst leads to higher conductivity and delayed valence transition of Ni sites,as well as optimized adsorption behavior towards oxygen intermediates,contributing to enhanced OER ***,NiFeP electrocatalyst demonstrates an ultralow overpotential of 265 mV at 20 mA·cm−2 for OER,as well as long-term *** work not only offers further insights into the effect of anionic electronegativity on the intrinsic OER electrocatalytic properties of NiFe-based electrocatalyst but also provides guide to design efficient non-noble metal-based electrocatalysts for water oxidation.

In terms of spray vaporization visualization, effects of ambient temperature (394-516 K) and ambient pressure (0.1-3.8 MPa) on multi-hole gasoline spray macroscopic characteristics has been investigated separately via optical diagnostics. Schlieren method was adopted to visualize vapor phase fuel at high ambient temperature. Laser sheet optical patternation provided us with cross-section perspective to verify results in schlieren images and acquire additional information like plume distribution. The results show that vaporization process will be promoted by high ambient temperature due to enhanced heat transfer between spray body and surrounding gas. The effects of ambient pressure on spray evolution possess different inner mechanisms with ambient temperature variation. In low ambient temperature, axial evolution indicated by vapor tip penetration will be restricted by high ambient pressure, whereas radial expansion indicated by spray angle will be facilitated. For atmospheric ambient pressure in high ambient temperature, spray collapse will appear due to enhanced vaporization of single plume and intensified jet-to-jet interaction. Moreover, because of inhibited vaporization of light component in high ambient pressure, vaporization model will transfer from distilled-like vaporization to co-vaporization, indicated by homogeneous vapor phase distribution. © Asia-Pacific Conference on Combustion, ASPACC *** right reserved.

Catalytic combustion of methane over a highly active and stable Ni0/Ce02 catalyst

In the last decades,many reports dealing with technology for the catalytic combustion of methane(CH4)have been ***,attention has increasingly focused on the synthesis and catalytic activity of nickel *** this paper,a NiO/CeO2 catalyst with high catalytic performance in methane combustion was synthe-sized via a facile impregnation method,and its catalytic activity,stability,and water-resistance during CH4 com-bustion were investigated.X-ray diffraction,low-tempera-ture N2 adsorption,thermogravimetric analysis,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,hydrogen temperature programmed reduction,methane temperature programmed surface reaction,Raman spectroscopy,electron paramag-netic resonance,and transmission electron microscope characterization of the catalyst were conducted to determine the origin of its high catalytic activity and stability in *** incorporation of NiO was found to enhance the concentration of oxygen vacancies,as well as the activity and amount of surface *** a result,the mobility of bulk oxygen in CeO2 was *** presence of CeO2 prevented the aggregation of NiO,enhanced reduction by NiO,and provided more oxygen species for the combustion *** results of a kinetics study indicated that the reaction order was about 1.07 for CH4 and about 0.10 for O2 over the NiO/CeO2 catalyst.

The premixed flames of DME-hydrogen-air premixed mixture were studied by the outwardly expanding flame and schlieren photography. The influences from equivalence ratio, hydrogen addition and initial pressure on the flame speed and combustion characteristics are analyzed. The results show that the flame speed, the laminar burning velocity and the mass burning rate increase with the increase of hydrogen addition. Increasing the ratio of hydrogen to DME will shorten the combustion duration. In the case of small hydrogen addition, the Markstein length decreases with the increase of equivalence ratio, and this reveals that lean mixture has better flame front stability than of rich mixture. In the case of large hydrogen addition, the Markstein length increases with the increase of equivalence ratio, and this indicates that rich mixture has better flame front stability than that of lean mixture. The initial pressure has larger influence on the combustion pressure than that from hydrogen addition. The flame development duration decreases with the increase of hydrogen addition and/or with the increase of equivalence ratio. Addition of hydrogen into DME can improve the ignitability of the mixtures and fasten the combustion. Copyright © 2008 by the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.
