Video quality has a direct impact on user experience and how to evaluate it has become an important topic of current research. Existing video quality assessment methods have their advantages as well as drawbacks. Assessment methods hitherto can reflect video quality to some extent but they could not well establish the relationship between Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE). In this paper, a video quality assessment method combining subjective experiments and objective analysis is proposed. By gradually changing the objective indicators and collecting the result of the subjective evaluation at the same time, we establish the mapping relationship between objective indicators and subjective experience. Simplified MPQM method and graded method are used and four mapping formulae are obtained by mathematical fitting. The formulae represent how key indicators’ variation quantitatively and respectively affects user experience.

Web visualization is of importance for distributed measurement system. It can help network operators optimize network more effectively. In this paper, we introduce a visualization method based on HTML5. HTML5 is the next version of Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), aiming to reduce the need for dynamic visualization technologies based on third party plug-ins, like Adobe Flash. Measurement data are displayed on the web in the form of plot using HTML5 canvas tag. The plot can be refreshed dynamically with real-time measurement data by using Ajax. This paper also describes how to utilize HTML5 to implement network topology visualization. The topology graph can display state of monitoring nodes. In brief, the utilization of HTML5 in this system meets the need of dynamic visualization without third party plug-ins.

As traditional network measurement systems store data in relational databases, the storage capacity and computing resource are limited, besides, the extendibility and elasticity are low. The centralized storage scheme will not meet the needs of big data analysis as the data is growing rapidly and continuously. In this paper, we adopt Hadoop and HBase--open source Cloud Computing Frameworks to store network measurement data of non-realtime and realtime applications. The distributed storage scheme is designed to meet the performance demands of storage capacity and computing resource for the mass data.
