Feature selection is an important data preprocessing process in artificial intelligence, which aims to eliminate redundant features while retaining essential features. Measuring feature significance and relevance between features is a significant challenge. Fuzzy information entropy is an extension of Shannon entropy. It is widely used for quantifying the information of fuzzy divisions. However, it has significant limitations, notably the lack of monotonicity in fuzzy conditional entropy measure of decision uncertainty in the feature selection process. We introduce a novel measurement Macrogranular Entropy (ME) and construct some generalized forms, such as conditional macrogranular entropy, mutual macrogranular information, and joint macrogranular entropy. The conditional macrogranular entropy exhibits monotonicity when measuring decision uncertainty. Additionally, we propose two feature selection algorithms: one based on Monotonic Conditional Macrogranular Entropy (MCME), and the other based on the Degree of Symmetric Association (ADSA). The ADSA algorithm and the MCME algorithm are compared against eight other feature selection algorithms through a series of experiments. The comparison was conducted based on classification performance using SVM and NB classifiers, as well as evaluation metrics including F1-score and Recall. In terms of all four evaluation metrics, ADSA and MCME achieved the top two rankings, respectively. Specifically, on the NB and SVM classifiers, the ADSA algorithm improves the average accuracy by 12.22% and 2.88% compared to the original feature set, while MCME improves the accuracy by 10.07% and 1.01%, respectively. Experimental comparisons demonstrate that ADSA algorithm effectively removes redundant information from the dataset during feature selection. © 2025 IEEE.

Online Multi-label Streaming Feature Selection with Missing Features by Dual-Space Consistency information Measurement

Multi-label feature selection is critical to address the challenges of high dimensionality and computational complexity in multi-label learning. However, in some practical applications, a more complex challenge is the dynamic generation of features, known as streaming features. Although some scholars have studied multi-label streaming feature selection methods, the problem of missing features during dynamic feature generation in multi-label data is rarely considered. Hence, we propose an online multi-label streaming feature selection method for multilabel data containing missing features by dual-space consistency information measurement. Firstly, we construct the dual-space consistency information measurement, which can effectively capture the relationships between features and labels. Specifically, we consider it from the perspective of instance correlation, and propose a fuzzy α-tolerance relation in the feature space to directly deal with missing features, and introduce an improved neighbour similarity relation in the label space to capture the instance similarity between the label combinations. Secondly, based on the dual-space consistency information, we further introduce the consistency gain index to help identify those features with important information during the streaming feature selection process. Thirdly, by combining online significance analysis, online relevance analysis, and online redundancy analysis, a new streaming feature selection framework is constructed, which can comprehensively evaluate the newly arrived features in terms of strong consistency, weak consistency and irrelevance, so as to identify the most representative features in the continuously arriving feature streams. Finally, a series of comparative experiments on multiple benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of our proposed method. © 2025 IEEE.

Online Multi-Label Streaming Feature Selection by Label Enhancement and Fuzzy Synergistic Discrimination information

Online streaming feature selection is an effective approach for handling large-scale streaming data in real-world applications. However, many existing online streaming feature selection studies do not effectively leverage the correlation and hidden information in the label space. The measures used in streaming feature selection often face challenges such as computational complexity and insufficient information exploitation. To address these issues, we propose an online streaming feature selection method based on label enhancement and fuzzy synergistic discrimination information. Firstly, we define a novel label enhancement method based on label correlation, which does not require any prior knowledge of feature space. Secondly, we propose a new measure to evaluate the discriminative ability of multiple feature subsets for labels in fuzzy environment, called fuzzy synergistic discrimination information. It is bounded and has many interesting properties. The fuzzy synergistic discrimination information is computed directly based on fuzzy similarity relations, so the calculation is relatively simple. Thirdly, based on label enhancement and proposed fuzzy synergistic discrimination information, we construct a three-stage online multi-label streaming feature selection method, including online significance analysis, online relevance analysis and online redundancy analysis. Finally, comparative experiments on 12 datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method. The influences of different feature sequences and these components on the algorithm's performance are further analyzed. © 1993-2012 IEEE.

Satellite networks, as a crucial component of space communication systems, effectively mitigate the limitations of terrestrial communication networks in edge computing, such as insufficient ground station coverage and susceptibility to natural disasters. Therefore, this paper introduces satellite networks into the context of terrestrial edge computing, constructing a space-terrestrial collaborative network edge computing framework and investigating the latency issues in task offloading. Due to factors such as long communication distances in space-terrestrial networks, limited onboard resources, and rapid relative positional changes between nodes, system latency may increase. This study models the problem as a Markov Decision Process (MDP) with the objective of minimizing system latency. A Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) reinforcement learning algorithm is proposed for the space-terrestrial collaborative network edge computing scenario. Experimental results demonstrate that, compared to local task processing and the Deep Q-network (DQN) algorithm, the proposed algorithm reduces the overall system overhead by an average of 28.12% and 13.29%, respectively, while also exhibiting better stability and convergence. © 2025 SPIE.

Amplified emission and lasing enabled by high-Q quasi-bound states in asymmetric dielectric metasurfaces via eigenfield perturbation

Symmetry-protected bound states in the continuum represent a distinct class of nonradiative modes in continuous media. By introducing asymmetric parameters into a symmetric metasurface, the inherent symmetry can be broken, transforming BICs—originally decoupled from external radiation channels—into high-Q quasi-BICs with controlled radiation capabilities. However, manufacturing constraints pose a significant challenge in fabricating nanostructures with ultra-small asymmetric parameters, thereby limiting the achievable Q-factor. In this work, we propose an asymmetric perforated metasurface structure that supports BICs. When the perforations are shifted along the x or y axis to a specific position, the linewidth vanishes, and simulations confirm the emergence of a BIC in the system, with a quality factor reaching up to 10⁹. Furthermore, we demonstrate that selective eigenmode perturbation can effectively transform BICs into practical quasi-BICs. Notably, for the same structure, perturbing the weak-field region yields higher Q-factors, offering a flexible approach to optimizing performance. This approach enables precise Q-factor control and enhanced radiation properties. Furthermore, we design a laser cavity structure based on these quasi-BICs, achieving amplified emission and lasing with excellent agreement between simulations and theoretical predictions. These findings expand the BIC library and offer new methods for Q-factor manipulation, paving the way for high-performance optoelectronic devices such as nanolasers, biosensors, and nonlinear harmonic generators. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group under the terms of the Optica Open Access Publishing Agreement.

The nutritional value of agricultural products is an important indicator for evaluating their quality, which directly affects people's dietary choices and overall well-being. Nutritional assessment studies provide a scientific basis for the production, processing, and marketing of food by analyzing the nutrients they contain. Traditional methods often struggle with suboptimal accuracy and can be time consuming, as well as a shortage of professionals. The progress in artificial intelligence has revolutionized dietary health by offering more accessible methods for food nutritional assessment using vision-based approaches. However, existing vision-based methods using RGB images often face challenges due to varying lighting conditions, impacting the accuracy of nutritional assessment. An alternative is the RGB-D fusion method, which combines RGB images and depth maps. Yet, these methods typically rely on simple fusion techniques that do not ensure precise assessment. Additionally, current vision-based methods struggle to detect small components like oils and sugars on food surfaces, crucial for determining ingredient information and ensuring accurate nutritional assessment. In this pursuit, we propose a novel ingredient-guided RGB-D fusion network that integrates RGB images with depth maps and enables more reliable nutritional assessment guided by ingredient information. Specifically, the multifrequency bimodality fusion module is designed to leverage the correlation between the RGB image and the depth map within the frequency domain. Furthermore, the progressive-fusion module and ingredient-guided module leverage ingredient information to explore the potential correlation between ingredients and nutrients, thereby enhancing the guidance for nutritional assessment learning. We evaluate our approach on a variety of ablation settings on Nutrition5k, where it consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Carbonyl sulfide （COS） is an effective tracer for estimating Gross Primary Productivity （GPP） in the carbon *** the largest contribution to the atmosphere,anthropogenic COS emissions must be accurately *** this study,an anthropogenic COS emission inventory from 2015 to 2021 was constructed by applying the bottom-up approach based on activity data from emission ***’s anthropogenic COS emissions increased from approximately 171 to 198 Gg S yr-1from 2015–2021,differing from the trends of other *** an initial decline in COS emissions across sectors during the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic,a rapid rebound in emissions occurred following the resumption of economic *** 2021,industrial sources,coal combustion,agriculture and vehicle exhaust accounted for 76.8%,12.3%,10.5%and 0.4%of total COS emissions,*** aluminum industry was the primary COS emitter among industrial sources,contributing40.7%of total ***,Shanxi,and Zhejiang were the top three provinces in terms of anthropogenic COS emissions,reaching 39,21 and 17 Gg S yr-1,***-level regions （hereafter province） with high COS emissions are observed mainly in the eastern and coastal regions of China,which,together with the wind direction,helps explain the pattern of high COS concentrations in the Western Pacific Ocean in *** Green Contribution Coefficient of COS (GCCCOS) was used to assess the relationship between GDP and COS emissions,highlighting the disparity between GDP and COS contributions to green *** part of this analysis,relevant recommendations are proposed to address this *** COS emission inventory in our study can be used as input for the Sulfur Transport and Deposition Model （STEM）,reducing uncertainties in the atmospheric COS source?sink budget and promoting understanding of the atmosphere sulfur cycle.

network monitoring and measurement is an important part of realizing the network digital twin. However, it introduces the problem of high cost when obtaining the status data of physical networks. Therefore, to efficiently achieve network observability, we first introduce potential techniques and network scenarios for implementing network measurements. Then, a High-Yield Segment Routing over IPv6 based In-band network Telemetry (HY-SRv6-INT) system is proposed in this paper. In particular, we design the HY-SRv6-INT system architecture. It consists of IPv6 switches implemented by the P4 language and a Software-Defined networking (SDN) controller containing the HY-SRv6-INT application. Next, we experimentally demonstrate a packet-level path-associated network measurement process. In addition, the performance of the HY-SRv6-INT system is also quantitatively evaluated to verify its advantages. On the Performance of Active RIS-Assisted Mixed RF-THz Relaying Systems

We investigate the performance of an active reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted mixed radio frequency (RF)-terahertz (THz) relaying system, where the RF signal reaches the relay through the active RIS and is then transmitted to the user via the THz channel. Under this scenario, we analyze the system performance with the relay employing amplify-and-forward (AF) and decode-and-forward (DF) protocols. More specifically, we derive the exact expressions for the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for both relaying protocols. Based on this, we obtain the exact expressions for the outage probability (OP), average bit error rate (ABER), and average channel capacity (ACC). Furthermore, to gain deeper insights, we derive the asymptotic expressions at high SNRs and obtain diversity order (DO) of the system. Moreover, we extend the analysis to the variable gain relaying scheme. The findings reveal that the DOs for both relaying protocols are determined by the THz channel parameters, and the DO under the AF relaying protocol is twice that of the DF relaying protocol. Finally, we validate that active RIS (A-RIS) can more effectively assist the performance of the mixed RF-THz relaying system compared to passive RIS. © 2014 IEEE.
