This paper proposes an adaptive frequency hopping (AFH) approach that allows Industrial Wireless Sensor networks (IWSNs) to cognitively switch working channels for high transmission reliability. Assuming the communication spectrum state follows a Markov Process (MP), we build a theoretical AFH framework based on the theory of Markov Decision Process (MDP). With this decision-theoretic framework, we can achieve an AFH strategy that maximizes the expected cumulative transmission reliability over a finite horizon. Judging the high computational complexity of the proposed MDP model, we further propose a myopic AFH with reduced complexity by assuming that each channel evolves independently. Without additional computation burdens or control messages exchange between sensors, the proposed AFH strategies are centrally computed by the network manager. Simulations finally demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed AFH strategies.

Aiming at the collision between the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in tracking motion target due to the inconsistency information, we design the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) formation cooperative tracking controller and analyze the flight-stability of the designed controller in the case of only knowing the UAV local information. Recently, a Lyapunov guidance vector field approach is proposed to achieve the desired circular trajectory in the paper. The path planning of a single UAV and the Multi-UAVs cooperative formation tracking motion target are simultaneously studied. In the ideal case, a guidance vector field method is proposed for the heading convergence, which has the advantage of analyzing and solving the collision problem between the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Further, a variable airspeed controller is used to maintain the UAV cooperative formation flight in a circular orbit, and an adaptive estimate is introduced to ensure the flight-stability of a circular orbit in the case of unknown wind and moving targets. In the process of the UAV formation tracking motion targets, we use a variable airspeed controller to achieve the desired angular spacing. In this paper, the designed controller laws are decentralized based on the local information. Meanwhile, the simulation shows that the designed controller has a good the flight-stability in the process of tracking motion target.

The distribution of power flow can be effectively improved by optimizing the configuration of Distributed Generators (DGs) and Shunt Capacitors (SCs). Proper placements and capacities of DGs or SCs for real power loss minimization at the radial distribution network (RDN) is attracting more attention as people become more and more dependent on electric power resources. In order to overcome the slow convergence and poor effect of intelligent algorithms in this problem, Particle Swarm Optimization with Orientation and Shrinking factor (PSO-OS) is proposed in this paper. In the suggested PSO-OS algorithm, sensitivity analysis sort of distribution network is introduced to guide the direction of variation to simplify the search space, and shrinking factor is introduced to balance search capabilities in various RDN systems. The proposed method is applied to IEEE-33, IEEE-69 and IEEE-119 systems to solve the problem of simultaneous allocation of DGs and SCs. Simulation results show that the energy loss of the system is reduced and the stability is improved after reconfiguration. By repeating the experiment independently with the traditional PSO algorithm, the comparative analysis of the results proves the superior performance of the improved algorithm. By comparing with the results in recent literature, it reveals the effectiveness of the proposed PSO-OS algorithm in finding the optimal position and capacity of DGs and SCs in the distribution network. © 2021. Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is expected to improve the energy and spectral efficiency of communication systems. Probability hypothesis density (PHD) simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) without explicit data association is one of the mainstream algorithms for implementing sensing function in ISAC. However, most existing research focused on multi-sensor and multi-user sensing fusion, while few studies involve multi base station (BS) fusion schemes. In this study, we introduce the virtual reference point rather than common used virtual anchor to model reflecting surface to form a consistent description of the surrounding environment among different BSs. Then, the estimation results of BSs are sequentially utilized as prior information, which is compared with arithmetic average (AA) and generalized covariance intersection (GCI) fusion algorithms. To improve the poor performance of existing schemes when filed of view (FoV) of different BSs is partial overlapped, we propose the concept of establishing global cloud map. The AA fusion algorithm is integrated into cloud fusion to improve the map estimation performance. Simulation results demonstrate that the performance of sequential fusion is superior to AA and GCI schemes when FoVs of different BSs are fully overlapped. Besides, the cloud map fusion scheme can obtain global maps even if some features are no longer in FoV, as well as improve the accuracy and stability of local maps estimation for each BS.

In this paper, an adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) based optimization method is proposed to schedule the electricity use of an office, where a battery is considered as the control variable, while solar and wind energies are included as additional energy supplies besides the grid. The electricity demand of an office generally contains socket, lighting and air-conditioning demands. Based on the periodic models of electricity price, electricity demand, and solar and wind energies, the optimal control strategies of the battery are determined by the proposed ADP based optimization method, so that the electricity cost from the grid can be saved. Simulation analysis demonstrates that the proposed method can achieve optimal real-time scheduling of office electricity use in different seasons of a year.

With the development of communication and sensing technology, it has become possible to monitor the operating status of the power grid system through a series of sensors. However, malicious adversaries may launch data integrity attacks to compromise the measurements of certain sensors, causing the grid monitoring system to fail to grasp the correct system operating status. To solve the NP-hard suspicious sensor selection problem, this paper proposes an efficient attack detection scheduling algorithm, the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm based on historical information directional guidance (HIDG-based PSO algorithm). The proposed algorithm is utilized with its unique evolutionary mechanism, which reduces the computational power requirements for sensor selection. For the problem of uncertainty in evolutionary algorithms, this paper uses historical information to guide the selection of suspicious sensors at the current moment. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can efficiently select suspicious sensors, which will greatly improve the efficiency of attack detection and ensure the security of information fusion of the power grid monitoring system.

Transient or sustained permeability transition pore (PTP) opening is important in normal physiology or cell death, respectively. These are closely linked to Ca2+ and reactive oxygen species (ROS). The entry of Ca2+ into mitochondria regulates ROS production, and both Ca2+ and ROS trigger PTP opening. In addition to this feedforward loop, there exist four feedback loops in the Ca2+-ROS-PTP system. ROS promotes Ca2+ entering (F1) and induces further ROS generation (F2), forming two positive feedback loops. PTP opening results in the efflux of Ca2+ (F3) and ROS (F4) from the mitochondria, forming two negative feedback loops. Owing to these complexities, we construct a mathematical model to dissect the roles of these feedback loops in the dynamics of PTP opening. The qualitative agreement between simulation results and recent experimental observations supports our hypothesis that under physiological conditions the PTP opens in an oscillatory state, while under pathological conditions it opens in a high steady state. We clarify that the negative feedback loops are responsible for producing oscillations, wherein F3 plays a more prominent role than F4; whereas the positive feedback loops are beneficial for maintaining oscillation robustness, wherein F1 has a more dominant role than F2. Furthermore, we manifest that the proper increase in negative feedback strength or decrease in positive feedback strength not only facilitates the occurrence of oscillations and thus protects the system against a high steady state, but also assists in lowering the oscillation peak. This study may provide potential therapeutic strategies in treating neurodegenerative diseases due to PTP dysfunction.

This study investigates the impact of blade gap angle on spiral axial flow gas–liquid multiphase pump performance. Using five numerical models and the shear stress transport k-omega (SST k-ω) turbulence model, we incorporated gas compressibility to analyze the influence of blade gap angle on pump performance. Results revealed alterations in the gap angle affected gas–liquid slip velocity distribution, turbulence eddy frequency within the impeller region, and the distribution of gas separation areas at the gap inlet and outlet. Increasing the gap deflection angle inhibited gas flow separation at the hub-side inlet while simultaneously enlarging separation area at the outlet of the gap, with the optimal gap angles enhancing flow separation in a helicoaxial gas–liquid multiphase pump. © 2024, Turbomachinery Society of Japan. A new evaluation protocol and benchmarking results for extendable cross-media retrieval

This paper proposes a new evaluation protocol for cross-media retrieval which better fits the real-word applications. Both image-text and text-image retrieval modes are considered. Traditionally, class labels in the training and testing sets are identical. That is, it is usually assumed that the query falls into some pre-defined classes. However, in practice, the content of a query image/text may vary extensively, and the retrieval system does not necessarily know in advance the class label of a query. Considering the inconsistency between the real-world applications and laboratory assumptions, we think that the existing protocol that works under identical train/test classes can be modified and improved. This work is dedicated to addressing this problem by considering the protocol under an extendable scenario, i.e., the training and testing classes do not overlap. We provide extensive benchmarking results obtained by the existing protocol and the proposed new protocol on several commonly used datasets. We demonstrate a noticeable performance drop when the testing classes are unseen during training. Additionally, a trivial solution, i.e., directly using the predicted class label for cross-media retrieval, is tested. We show that the trivial solution is very competitive in traditional non-extendable retrieval, but becomes less so under the new settings. Firstly, aiming at the uncertainty of link information and users' satisfaction, the relevant knowledge of fuzzy mathematics and probability theory were introduced, and then the method of calculation of the users' QoS evaluation value was proposed. Secondly, the SRLG (shared risk link group)-disjoint and shared-path protection strategies, together with the distinction of the reliability of fault tolerant scheme were used when the single SRLG failure was under consideration. Thirdly, tabu fish swarm intelligent optimization algorithm was used to find the route, and finally a tabu fish swarm preventive fault-tolerant QoS unicast routing mechanism was proposed. The proposed mechanism was used to find the working path and the protective path which were satisfied the QoS constraint conditions and also could guarantee the end-to-end reliability, optimize link-cost and QoS evaluation value of the route.
