Incorporating biological inspired optimization into modeling of district heating networks

In this paper, we proposed a biologically inspired model to solve the optimization problem of building district heating networks. The optimization strategy of the model was inspired from physiological observations of the food foraging procedure of the true slime mold Physarum polycephalum (plasmodium) which was found and proved to be able to find optimal path in complex networks such as mazes and road maps. We developed a simulation model to mimic the food foraging procedure of the plasmodium to help to generate heating distribution networks. Simulation results were compared to a well-tuned ant colony algorithm and a genetic algorithm which were used to build the same heating network. The results indicated that although there was not large-scale efficiency savings had been made, the biologically inspired simulation model is capable of finding optimal heating distribution network which is of equal or better optimality than the compared ant colony algorithm and genetic algorithm and, to achieve network robustness, stability and reliability. © Sila Science.

Aiming to accomplish continuous and reliable communication of cognitive radio sensor network (CRSN) in the licensed band, this paper proposes a novel CRSN architecture by combing the strategies of cooperative sensing and wideband sensing. Through deploying cognitive nodes that are especially responsible for spectrum sensing in the network, spectrum sensing and data transmission are reasonably separated. While maximizing the duration of sensing and transmission, the scheme also achieves real-time spectrum sensing and continuous data transmission, significantly improving the probability of detection and network throughput. In addition, the design organizes the cognitive nodes to cooperatively perform multi-channel joint detection on the wideband. In this way, besides improving the detection reliability, the CRSN can continuously access the licensed band to further ensure that the data transmission is successive. The average network throughput under different hard fusion rules is analyzed and compared through simulations. Results show that the proposed network architecture can achieve higher throughput. ©2014 ISCAS.

In order to solve the vibration problem of mining equipment, a Simulink simulation model of current loop, speed loop and position loop of permanent magnet synchronous motor was established to track the input position signal of the motor system.[1] At the same time, the input shaper is introduced into the motor three loop control model to study the vibration suppression effect of the input shaper.[2] The essence of the input shaper is to filter the input signal. Usually, the parameters of the input shaper need to be accurately identified and the detailed parameters of the system need to be identified. However, the problem that the identification accuracy of the system is not enough often makes the parameters of the shaper uncertain. In view of the problem that the system identification is not accurate, a method of adjusting and setting input shaper parameters is designed, which is not very dependent on the system. The results show that the optimal parameters of the shaper can be selected by the method. Compared with the parameters of the shaper selected according to the identification model, the vibration suppression effect is better.

Algorithm for detecting homoclinic orbits of time-continuous dynamical system and its application

Detecting homoclinic orbits is a key problem in nonlinear dynamical systems, especially in the study of bifurcation and chaos. In this paper, we propose a new method to solve the problem with trajectory optimization. By defining a distance between a saddle point and its near trajectories, the problem becomes a common problem in unconstrained nonlinear optimization to minimize the distance. A subdivision algorithm is also proposed in this paper to improve the integrity of results. By applying the algorithm to the Lorenz system, the Shimizu-Morioka system and the hyperchaotic Lorenz system, we successfully find many homoclinic orbits with the corresponding parameters, which suggests that the method is effective. © 2013 Chinese Physical Society.

Prediction of subsurface oil reservoir pressure are critical to hydrocarbon production. However, the accurate pressure estimation faces great challenges due to the complexity and uncertainty of reservoir. The underground seepage flow and petrophysical parameters (permeability and porosity) are important but difficult to measure in oilfield. Deep learning methods have been successfully used in reservoir engineering and oil & gas production process. In this study, the effective but inaccessible subsurface seepage fields are not used, only the spatial coordinates and temporal information are selected as model input to predict reservoir pressure. A stacked GRU-based deep learning model is proposed to map the relationship between spatio-temporal data and reservoir pressure. The proposed deep learning method is verified by using a three-dimensional reservoir model, and compared with commonly-used methods. The results show that the stacked GRU model has a better performance and higher accuracy than other deep learning or machine learning methods in pressure prediction.

Aiming at the current lack of certification capability in domestic industrial control systems, an industrial control system authentication scheme based on identity cryptography algorithm is proposed. When authenticating between control system devices, the scheme integrates the identity-based digital signature algorithm into the SSL/TLS handshake protocol to complete identity authentication between the engineering station and the trusted PLC. At the same time, when the connection is established for the first time between devices, the connection authentication is selected by the challenge/response based method. The authentication technology based on the identity cryptographic algorithm no longer requires the existence of a public key certificate. This eliminates the need to revoke, store, and issue certificates, simplifies the certification process and reduces the amount of computation required by the authentication process. At the same time, the improved handshake protocol is universal in industrial control systems. The authentication technology based on the identity and password algorithm no longer requires the existence of a public key certificate, eliminating the need for certificate revocation, storage, and issuance, simplifying authentication steps, and reducing system maintenance. Finally, by establishing a test environment, the improved handshake protocol is implemented, and the feasibility of the authentication scheme is verified and analyzed.

This paper presents new techniques for construction of dynamic output feedback controllers with a static anti-windup compensator for a class of saturated systems with sector-bounded and slope-restricted nonlinearities. To handle the slope restriction, a so-called differential compensator is incorporated into the traditional nonlinear controller. Considering its sector-bounded property and convex-hull representation, respectively, two LMI-based synthesis methods are proposed to address the problems of the estimates of the region of attraction (ROA) and £ 2 performance analysis of the closed-loop system. A numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed approaches.

Debugging and protocol conformance testing of power meter reading system which is based on wireless sensor network is complex, aiming at this problem, we develop a powerful, flexible use, convenient carrying multichannel real-time data monitoring and transmitting device in this paper. The hardware realization and working principle of multichannel synchronous data transceiver are introduced in detail. On this basis, its hardware scheme and software flow for wireless meter reading network are designed. The tests show that, the device is with good real-timeand high stability which is a good debugging and testing device for wireless meter reading network.

In this letter, leader-following consensus of a nonlinear MASs satisfying Lipschitz conditions with partial actuator saturation constraints is investigated First of all, an impulse control protocol which only requires local information of agents and their neighbors is proposed. Then, using Lyapunov stability theory, impulse control theory, and algebraic graph theory, sufficient conditions for the consensus of multi-agent systems are provided. Ultimately, numerical simulations are employed to show that the research findings are accurate.
