Evaluation of the Acute Toxicity of Prochloraz-manganese Chloride Complex to Environmental Species

[Objectives] This study was conducted to evaluate the toxicity risk of prochloraz-manganese chloride complex to environmental organisms. [Methods] The acute toxicity tests of prochloraz-manganese chloride complex on 8 common environmental organisms, such as Coturnix coturnix japonica, Apis mellifera L., Eisenia foetida, Bombyx mori, Trichogramma japonicum, Brachydanio rerio, Daphnia magna Straus and Scenedesmus obliquus were carried out. [Results] Prochloraz-manganese chloride complex to D. magna EC50(48 h): 1.11 mg a.i./L, with a 95% confidence limit of 1.00-1.26 mg a.i./L;B. rerio LC50(96 h): 2.84 mg a.i./L, with a 95 % Confidence limit of 2.43-3.48 mg a.i./L;S. obliquus ErC50(72 h): 1.88×10^-2 mg a.i./L, with a 95% confidence limit of 1.70×10^-2-2.16×10^-2 mg a.i./L;C. coturnix LD50(168 h): 1.01×10^3 mg a.i./kg body weight, with a 95% confidence limit of 7.87×10^2-1.27×10^3 mg a.i./kg body weight;T. japonicum LR50(24 h): 2.53×10^-3 mg a.i./cm^2, with a 95% confidence limit of 2.14×10^-3-2.99×10^-3 mg a.i./cm^2;B. mori LC50(96 h): 2.03×10^2 mg a.i./L, with a 95% confidence limit of 1.79×10^2-2.30×10^2 mg a.i./L;A. mellifera(peroral) LD50(48 h)>100 μg a.i./bee;A. mellifera(contact) LD50(48 h)>100 μg a.i./bee;E. foetida LC50(14 d)>1.00×10^2 mg a.i./kg dry soil. According to the Guidance for Evaluating and Calculating Degradation Kinetics in Environmental Media for Pesticide Registration, prochloraz-manganese chloride complex had low toxicity to A. mellifera, C. coturnix, B. mori and E. foetida, medium toxicity to D. magna and B. rerio, and high toxicity and low risk to S. obliquus and T. japonicum. [Conclusions] This study provides a data basis for the toxicity and environmental safety evaluation of the agent.

In this paper, a new multi-objective improved bat algorithm (MOIBA) is proposed to solve the constrained multi-objective optimal power flow (MOOPF) problem with contradictory objectives. The proposed MOIBA algorithm, introducing nonlinear inertia weight, global optimal guiding mechanism and monotone random filling model based on extreme (MRFE), can improve the shortcomings of basic bat algorithm which is easy to fall into local optimum. A Pareto-dominant method with constraint priority (PMC) is proposed to ensure that state variables can satisfy the inequality constraints of MOOPF problem. To obtain well-distributed Pareto optimal set (POS), an elite non-dominated sorting method with crowding-distance (ESCD) isadopted. In addition, a fuzzy affiliation approach (FAA) is used to select the best compromise (BC) from the obtained POS. The IEEE 30-bus, IEEE 57-bus and IEEE 118-bus systems are employed to evaluate the effectiveness of MOIBA with four objectives, which includes optimizing basic fuel cost and emission concurrently, optimizing basic fuel cost and active power loss concurrently, optimizing fuel cost with value-point loadings and active power loss concurrently, optimizing basic fuel cost, emission and active power loss concurrently. The legion experimental results obtained by MOIBA, which are contrast to MOPSO and MODE algorithms, validate that MOIBA has definite competitive advantages to achieve satisfactory POS. Furthermore, two performance metrics, generational distance (GD) and spacing (SP), are chosen to estimate the distribution and diversity of Pareto solutions obtained by MOIBA. © International Association of Engineers.

Considering the plastic reinforcement effect in materials, the plastic limit load of the three-way structure is analyzed. ANSYS commercial finite element software is used for numerical simulation. According to the results, the paper discusses the influence of the plastic reinforcement effect on the pipe's plastic ultimate load and failure mode. And the structure is further analyzed to verify the theory and design ideas in actual engineering. For improving the design and safety assessment of the three-way structure, the results provide a theoretical basis and a numerical reference, and the finite element method is economical than the experimental method. At last, it satisfies the accuracy requirements of engineering. © 2020 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

In this paper, the locally thinned three-way structure under internal pressure is analyzed based on the theory of plastic strengthening effect and limit analysis. A finite element model is presented through ANSYS commercial software to simulate the mechanical properties of orthogonal and oblique three-way structures. This paper systematically analyses how the shape and size of the thinning effect the plastic limit load of the pipe and what is the typical failure mode of plastic failure. Some valuable conclusions are drawn, which provide a useful reference for the design and production of the tee pipe. © 2020 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

In this paper, the thermal analysis and structural analysis of MLCC are carried out by using the commercial finite element software ANSYS. By comparing the thermal-mechanical analysis results of the structural optimization models of different schemes, the optimal optimization scheme is found. The model calculated the time required for MLCC to reach temperature stability considering thermal convection and heat conduction, and obtained the thermal deformation and thermal stress distribution of MLCC element. Based on the analysis results of MLCC original model, the thermal analysis under different wave soldering temperatures was carried out. Based on the simulated transient results, the structure and materials of MLCC key components were optimized. The results provide a basis for the optimal design of MLCC. © 2020 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

Citizen scientist-based environmental monitoring and public education are becoming increasingly popular. However, limited by detection methods and instrumentation, existing technologies for antibiotic-based new contaminant detection are still limited to sample collection and analysis done by laboratories. This study combines smartphone and social software with rapid detection to develop a field-based simultaneous detection method for enrofloxacin (ENR) and ciprofloxacin (CIP) that matches the results to geographic location and helps the public understand the potential level of antibiotic exposure in their environment and take appropriate measures to reduce risk. The method uses a portable, low-cost analytical kit with a smartphone app to build a field-based detection platform for the detection and analysis of ENR and CIP in water and fish. The methodological evaluation was good, with detection limits of 0.4 ng/ml and 0.5 ng/g for ENR in water and fish, and quantification limits of 1.2 ng/ml and 1.4 ng/g, with recoveries of 89.0%-101.0% and 78.0%-97.0%. For CIP in water and fish, the limits of detection were 0.3 ng/ml and 0.4 ng/ml, the limits of quantification were 0.9 ng/ml and 1.2 ng/ml, and the recoveries were 75.0%-91.0% and 72.0%-89.0%, both with coefficients of variation less than 15%, which were able to completely shield the two antibiotics from crossover during simultaneous detection. Validation of the assay on actual samples to determine the performance of the assay platform for field application showed results consistent with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS), enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) methods, and with shorter time required for the assay process, more portable instrumentation required for the assay, and lower assay difficulty. In the actual fractional order PID control system of microbial fuel cell(MFC),the existence of interference noise seriously affects the control quality of the *** at this problem,a fractional order PID control strategy based on Kalman filter is *** Kalman filter is used to realize the optimal estimation of the state of the MFC system,eliminate uncertain factors such as interference noise,and provide more accurate state information for the fractional order PID controller,thereby improving the performance of the *** simulation results show that,compared with the conventional fractional order PID control,the fractional order PID control based on Kalman filter can effectively compensate the influence of interference on the MFC system,the steady-state accuracy is improved obviously,and the entire control process is smoother,at the same time,the anti-interference ability of the system is improved significantly,which effectively improves the ability of the MFC power generation system to operate stably in a complex environment.

Polymer grouting materials are widely used in the field of trenchless rehabilitation of infrastructure, and their properties are closely related to the crosslinking process and crosslinking degree between components. In this paper, polyurethane (PU) models with different crosslinking degrees were built based on the molecular dynamics (MD) simulations method and Python script. We investigated the crosslinking reaction process of PU grouting materials and the effect of their crosslinking degree on the glass transition temperature (Tg) and tensile properties. Also, the rationality of the model was verified by comparing the Tg obtained in the simulation and experiment. The results showed that the crosslinking reaction is a volume shrinkage process, and the PU model has a good network structure. The non-bonding energy is the main reason for the variation in the Tg, which increased with increasing crosslinking degree. Besides, the tensile properties of PU are greatly affected by the crosslinking degree, and the elastic modulus increased with increasing crosslinking degree. The results are of great significance for understanding the microstructure and thermomechanical properties of PU grouting materials at the molecular level. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

During infections,bacteria stimulate host cells to produce and release histamine,which is a key mediator of vital cellular processes in ***,the mechanisms underlying the bacterial cell’s ability to sense and respond to histamine are poorly ***,we show that HinK,a Lys R-type transcriptional regulator,is required to evoke responses to histamine in Pseudomonas aeruginosa,an important human *** directly binds to and activates the promoter of genes involved in histamine uptake and metabolism,iron acquisition,and Pseudomonas quinolone signal(PQS)*** transcriptional regulatory activity of HinK is induced when histamine is present,and it occurs when HinK binds with imidazole-4-acetic acid(Im AA),a histamine metabolite whose production in *** depends on the HinK-activated histamine uptake and utilization operon hin ***,the inactivation of HinK inhibits diverse pathogenic phenotypes of *** results suggest that histamine acts as an interkingdom signal and provide insights into the mechanism used by pathogenic bacteria to exploit host regulatory signals to promote virulence.

Priority emerging contaminants in the Taihu Basin (China): occurrence, risk assessment, and control strategies

Lake Taihu, the largest shallow freshwater lake in eastern China, is a vital ecological and economic resource in the Yangtze River Delta. However, the region faces substantial environmental challenges from emerging contaminants (ECs), such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and neonicotinoid insecticides (NEOs), driven by its dense industrial activities and aquaculture and agriculture sectors. A comprehensive literature analysis of the two ECs revealed that PFAS and NEOs have become recent hotspots both globally and in the Taihu Basin. The occurrence and distribution of PFAS and NEOs were summarized to show their high detection frequency and concentrations in the Taihu Basin. Risk assessment indicated that PFAS, NEOs, and other ECs posed considerable ecological risks within the Taihu Basin. Treatment techniques for PFAS and NEOs were systematically reviewed. However, many of these techniques face difficulties in scaling up in the Taihu Basin because of their strict conditions and high energy consumption. Ecological engineering treatment technologies are applied in the Taihu Basin to address emerging agricultural contaminants. Ecological engineering treatment technologies have limitations such as low removal efficiency and toxicity inhibition. Thus, it is necessary to develop more effective technologies for treating ECs in the Taihu Basin. A flowchart for identifying priority controlled ECs is presented and a future for the priority controlled emerging contaminants in the Taihu Basin is discussed. This study provides scientific insights for the sustainable control of ECs.
