In recent years, the issue of color mismatch due to observer metamerism has emerged as a critical concern in display color management. Observer metamerism refers to the phenomenon where individuals perceive colors differently under identical spectral conditions, leading to the low color consistency between different display devices. Owing to the high monochromatic characteristics of lasers, the mismatch phenomenon is particularly significant in laser displays, which is well-known for its wide color gamut and high brightness. In this research, the observer metamerism in three display systems were studied by theoretical simulations, including: CIE Standard Illuminant D65, a three-primary-laser system, and a four-primary-laser system. The result shows that three-primary-laser systems exhibited more severe metamerism mismatches than CIE Standard Illuminant D65, and the issue exacerbating as bandwidths narrowed. The addition of primaries to the three-primary-laser system mitigated the metamerism, thereby enhancing color consistency. It contributes to the design of display systems with high-precision color reproduction and an large color gamut. © 2025 SPIE.

Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) is an emerging vibration measurement technology with wide applications in seismic signal analysis, characterized by its high sensitivity and resolution. However, the acquired signals contain significant amounts of noise. This paper proposes a U-Net-like model based on morphological filtering operations of dilation and erosion, replacing the standard convolution blocks in the structure with dilated-eroded convolution blocks. Furthermore, inception blocks are added to the first and last layers of the model to effectively remove noise from DAS signals while preserving signal amplitude and reconstructing weak P-wave signals. The effectiveness and practicality of this method are validated through comparative studies with Non-Local Means (NLM), BM3D, and JDAS methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Given the difficulties in obtaining broad-spectrum laser sources for speckle reduction in laser display, the method of blending laser sources with incoherent light sources has been proposed. The utilization of broad-spectrum laser sources and the blending of incoherent light sources will result in a reduction in the monochromaticity of the primary color. Consequently, the impact of two schemes on speckle reduction and color gamut performance is investigated. Under the constraint that the reduction in the color gamut coverage does not exceed 5%, the recommendations for the reasonable maximum spectral bandwidth of laser sources and blending ratio of incoherent light sources are provided. By jointly considering the speckle reduction effect and the impact on the color gamut, the evaluation factor F is proposed to help obtain the optimal spectral bandwidth and blending ratio. In the incoherent light source blending scheme, the addition of green LEDs results in a dramatic decline in the color gamut coverage, whereas the inclusion of red and blue LEDs does not lead to such a significant decrease. The effective speckle reduction results in the luminance of display system being constrained by LEDs. These findings can provide theoretical guidance for the selection of light sources in laser display applications. © 2025 SPIE.

Battery recycling is indispensable for alleviating critical material shortages and enabling sustainable battery ***,current methods mostly focus on spent batteries,which not only require sophisticated disassembly and material extraction but also have unknown chemistries and states of health,resulting in high costs and extreme challenges to achieve ***,we propose the direct recycling and effective regeneration of air-degraded LiNi_(0.5)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.3)O_(2)(NCM523)cathode directly from battery scraps generated during battery *** NCM523 shows surface degradation only a few nanometers deep and accordingly can be regenerated without adding Li,achieving restored properties(170 mAh g^(-1) at 0.1 C,92.7%retention after 1000 cycles)similar to those of fresh commercial *** analysis shows that scrap recycling has a profit of$1.984 kg^(-1),which is~10 times higher than conventional recycling,making it practical and economical to rejuvenate slightly degraded electrode materials for sustainable battery manufacturing.

Immersion is the most important feature of virtual reality (VR) interaction. To achieve an immersive experience in a virtual environment, visual-auditory information reception and haptic interactive feedback are required. As the demand for human-computer interaction continues to increase, natural gesture interaction and haptic feedback become increasingly important. To improve the immersive experience of virtual environments, we proposed force-tactile feedback and hand posture acquisition for measurement design. A simple structured, lightweight posture acquisition and force-tactile feedback device were designed in this study. The device consisted of five potentiometers on the fingers and five servos on the back of the hand plus a central processor connected to a computer device. The device was easily integrated with existing VR positioners. To evaluate the feasibility and usability of the interactive device, we performed common operations in the virtual experimental scenario, including hand pose replication, grasping cubes and spheres, and picking up and releasing bows and arrows. The results showed that force feedback improved the user's experience during grasping in the virtual experimental scenario. All operations took significantly less time to complete and the user interaction was more accurate. © 2023 IEEE.

Semitransparent perovskite solar cells(PSCs)hold great potential for applications in aesthetic building facades and top-illuminated tandem *** tin oxide is currently the frequently used top transparent contact,which would degrade the underlying perovskites during sputter ***,we report low-temperature,scalable solution-processed silver nanowires(AgNWs)as top window electrodes for fabricating efficient and stable semitransparent *** a decisive step,an impermeable SnO_(2) thin film deposited by atomic layer deposition(ALD)is applied to prevent chemical reactions between AgNWs and halides of *** parallel,the molecular absorption of propylenediamine iodine(PDADI)on perovskite surface,instead of forming two-dimensional(2D)perovskite capping layer,is found to effectively passivate the perovskite surface,which simultaneously leads to remarkably enhanced thermal stability,thus affording the processing window for ALD-SnO_(2) ***,the prepared semitransparent PSCs with a bandgap of 1.71 eV achieve a champion efficiency of 17.5%,being the highest efficiency for semitransparent PSCs with AgNWs top *** these bases,we constructed a four-terminal perovskite/copper indium gallium diselenide(CIGS)tandem cell,giving a state-of-the-art efficiency of 26.85%.

The (1-x)K0.5Na0.5NbO3-xBi(Ni0.5Zr0.5)O3[(1-x)KNN-xBNZ] ceramics with 0 ≤ x ≤0.2 were prepared by the solid-state method. The (1-x)KNN-xBNZ samples with 0.05 ≤ x ≤ 0.2 formed solid solutions with a stable perovskite structure and exhibited a cubic phase at room temperature. The sample with x=0.2 shown outstanding thermal robustness within the range of -35°C to 260°C, suggesting substantial promise for utilization in high-temperature multilayer ceramic capacitors. A systematic study of impedance spectra and modulus spectra plotted in various forms indicates the dominant grain effect in the single non-Debye thermally activated relaxation process for the BNZ-doped samples except the composition with x = 0.1. The grain and grain boundary effects may make the contribution to the relaxation process of the composition with x = 0.1. The frequency-related normalized impedance spectra and the calculated activation energy suggest that the conductive behavior and the relaxation process within the system of (1-x)KNN-xBNZ may be associated with the short-range movement of doubly ionized oxygen vacancies. © 2024 SPIE.

Superconductivity in Cubic La_(3)Al with Interstitial Anionic Electrons

We observed superconductivity in a cubic La_(3)Al single crystal that exhibits metallic behavior in the normal state without an observable structural transition and enters the superconducting state below T_(c)~6.32 *** characterization and analysis indicate that cubic La_(3)Al is a bulk type-Ⅱ BCS ***,theoretical calculations show that it can host interstitial anionic electrons located at the body center of the cubic unit cell,which confirms electron-phonon coupling as the superconducting ***,cubic La_(3)Al can be considered as a novel electride superconductor.
