Porous poly(N-isopropylamide-co-acrylamide)[P(NIPAAm-co-AAm)]hydrogels with a very fast thermo-responsive rate were prepared by freezing polymerization method. The internal pore structure and surface morphology of hydrogels were observed by surface area analyzer and scanning electron microscope. The equilibrium swelling ratio and the swelling/deswelling kinetics of the hydrogels were investigated. The influence of reaction time of the pre-freezing polymerization on the thermo-responsive rate of the hydrogels was also studied. The results showed that the interconnecting porous network structure had been successfully prepared by the freezing polymerization method. These open pore structures are very useful to accelerate the responsive rate of the hydrogel. The results of swelling properties show that the time of pre-freezing polymerization play a dominant role in the final properties of P(NIPAAm-co-AAm) hydrogel. The equilibrium swelling ratio(SR) of hydrogels reduced with reaction time of pre-freezing polymerization increasing. The lowest critical phase transition temperature(LCST) of P(NIPAm-co-AAm) hydrogels were all around 35°C, and different reaction time of pre-freezing polymerization have little effect on it. The swelling/deswelling rate decreased with the reaction time of the pre-polymerization polymerization increasing.

Voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) with large tuning range and low phase noise is implemented by using 0.18 μ m CMOS process. Active inductor and LC filter at tail currents were used to enlarge the tuning range and to improve phase noise of CMOS VCO. Accumulation varactors are used to widen frequency tuning. The tuning range and phase noise were measured as 29% and -120 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset, respectively. In addition, the output frequency is between 2.61 GHz and 3.14 GHz for 1.8 V power supplies.

Spherical organic-bonded ZnS nanocrystals with 4.0 4-0.2 nm in diameter are synthesized by a liquid-solid-solution method. The photoluminescence spectrum of sample ([S^2-]/[Zn^2+] = 1.0) shows a strong white emission with a peak at 490nm and - 170 nm full widths at half maximum. By Gauss fitting, the white emission is attributed to the overlap of a blue emission and a green-yellow emission, originating from electronic transitions from internal S^2- vacancies level to valence band and to the internal Zn^2+ vacancy level, respectively. After sealingZnS nanocrystals onto InGaN chips, the device shows CIE coordinates of (0.29,0.30), which indicates their potential applications for white light emitting diodes.
