Low coherent pulse bound states have drawn significant interests due to their distinctive structures and dynamic behaviors. Single- or dual-wavelength interference-induced noise-like soliton molecules (NLSMs) characterized by the crossing features of a broad autocorrelation pedestal of noise-like pulses (NLPs) and symmetrically distributed autocorrelation multi-spikes of soliton molecules (SMs) are experimentally achieved in a fiber laser with a dual-cavity structure, respectively. The generation of NLSM owes to the intrapulse interference within an NLP or interpulse interference between two NLPs, exhibiting its coherence varying from weak to strong. Moreover, the coherent pulse spacing within NLSMs can change from 8.42 to 44.93 ps by altering length differences between two subcavities. Our work provides a novel approach for manipulating low coherent pulse generation. © 2023 SPIE.

Metasurfaces are artificially designed ultra-thin structures that can be regarded as two-dimensional forms of metamaterials. Space-time-coding metasurface has been developed. This concept has aroused the research interests since it was proposed, and its great flexibility to beam manipulation has become one of the hot research directions. Here, we design a dynamic tunable metasurface combined with vanadium dioxide, and study properties of space-time coding metausurface in the THz band. In addition, by using the space-time coding theory, the vortex and its angle deflection are successfully generated in the 2- bit encoding, which shows the powerful ability of the space-time- coding metasurface to manipulate the beam. © 2023 IEEE.

Spectral resolution is crucial for achieving precise and high-quality imaging and analysis in imaging systems. Coded aperture correlation holography system face challenges in distinguishing objects at different wavelengths due to their limited spectral resolution. This paper presents a method that combines Bessel beams with a lens phase mask to encode an object's spatial and spectral information into a hologram. Reconstruction is achieved by cross-correlating with the point spread hologram for each wavelength, enabling precise imaging under multi-wavelength conditions. Simulation results show that this method only requires recording a single object hologram at the same wavelength, eliminating the need for multiple recordings. It also offers high spectral sensitivity and spectral resolution. This method is expected to further advance the application of spectral imaging technology in fields such as high-resolution imaging and microscopic endoscopy. © 2024 SPIE.

Haematococcus pluvialis is one type of freshwater unicellular microalgae, belonging to the Chlorophyta, Haematococcus. H. pluvialis has high economic value due to its wide variety of nutritional components, including astaxanthin, vitamins, algal polysaccharides, proteins, etc. Current microalgae detection methods are deficient in monitoring the life cycle of H. pluvialis. In this study, we applied the confocal fluorescence microscopy and the fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) system to observe the different stages of the microalgal cells. The cell morphology and the fluorescence lifetime distributions were obtained for further analysis. The results showed that H. pluvialis had a diameter of about 25μm in the state of flagellated macrozooids (zoospore). When the nutrients in the medium were continuously consumed, the individual cells of H. pluvialis became larger and entered the microzooid stage, whose diameters were around 35μm. The fluorescence lifetime values of H. pluvialis in the macrozooid (zoospore) stage and the microzooid stage were around 700 to 800ps and 1000ps, respectively. The next stage was the palmella stage, in which the diameter of H. pluvialis increased to the range of 40 to 52μm. During this stage, the larger algae began to accumulate red pigment in the center of the cell. Meanwhile, the fluorescence lifetime values near the center of the algal cell increased to around 1300ps, approximately 200ps higher than the values in the periphery of the cells, showing layered properties of H. pluvialis in the palmella stage. In summary, FLIM can provide a real-Time quantitative method for monitoring different life stages and cell morphologies of H. pluvialis during its life cycle in a non-destructive way. © COPYRIGHT SPIE.

Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)are needed in highperformance piezoresistive sensors due to their strong strain-induced bandgap modification and thereby large gauge ***,integrating a conventional high-temperature chemical vapor deposition(CVD)-grown TMD with a flexible substrate necessitates a transfer process that inevitably degrades the sensing properties of the TMDs and increases the overall fabrication *** present a high-performance piezoresistive strain sensor that employs largearea PdSe_(2) films grown directly on polyimide(PI)substrates via plasma-assisted selenization of a sputtered Pd *** reliable strain transfer from the substrate to the PdSe_(2) film ensures an outstanding strain-sensing capability of the ***,the sensors have a gauge factor of up to315±2.1,a response time under 25 ms,a detection limit of 8×10^(-6),and an exceptional stability of over 104 loadingunloading *** attaching the sensors to the skin surface,we demonstrate their application for measuring physiological parameters in health care monitoring,including motion,voice,and arterial pulse ***,using the PdSe_(2) film sensor combined with deep learning technology,we achieved intelligent recognition of artery temperature from arterial pulse signals with only a 2%difference between predicted and actual *** excellent sensing performance,together with the advantages of low-temperature fabrication and simple device structure,make the PdSe_(2) film sensor promising for wearable electronics and health care sensing systems.

Trilayer multiorbital models of La4Ni3O10

Recently, the discovery of superconductivity in Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) La4Ni3O10 under pressure has further expanded the realm of nickelate-based superconductor family. In this paper, we perform a first-principles study of La4Ni3O10 for both the P21/a phase at ambient pressure and I4/mmm phase at high pressure, with U=0, 3.5 eV. Our results confirm the characteristic upward shift of a Ni−dz2 bonding band under pressure. Moreover, our analysis of electronic spectrum and orbital occupancy unveil the dynamic mechanism of electronic reconstructions under pressure, embedded in a critical dual effect. Based on our results, we further propose a trilayer two-orbital model by performing Wannier downfolding on Ni−eg orbitals. Our model reveals four Fermi surface sheets with α,β,β′,γ pockets, bearing resemblance to that of bilayer La3Ni2O7. According to the model, our calculated spin susceptibility under random phase approximation shows that the dx2−y2 orbital is also important for the magnetic fluctuation in the RP series. Finally, a high energy 16-orbital model with direct dp,pp hoppings is proposed, which implies that La4Ni3O10 also lies in the charge-transfer picture within the Zaanen-Sawatzky-Allen scheme. Our exposition of electronic reconstructions and multiorbital models shed light on theoretical electronic correlation study and experimental exploration of lower pressure superconductors in the RP series.

Recently, soft and stretchable strain sensors that can be incorporated into textiles have attracted significantly increasing interest for use in a diverse range of applications. However, the simple fabrication of stretchable devices that exhibit excellent sensing performance, are highly durability and are a good fit to the human body remains a challenge. Herein, we describe the fabrication of a new flexible strain sensor on a traditional polyester fabric using a one-step method that involves the reduction of graphene oxide(GO) using ascorbic acid(L-AA). The resulting textile-based strain sensors could be washed, exhibited long-term stability,and had a negative linear response that gave a good sensing response when used in wearable applications. In addition to effectively detecting human motions, the textile was modified such that it could detect ultra-large deformations. The impressive mechanical performance, durability and the ability to capture and monitor a variety of human actions and motions mean that these textile-based sensors have great potential in biomonitoring, soft co-robotics, and human-machine interactions.

We propose an all-dielectric metasurface based on bound states in the continuum that supports enhanced circular dichroism (CD). We present simulated results to show the chiroptical response of the all-dielectric metasurface by breaking in-plane symmetry. Our findings indicate that a quality factor of up to 104 in the proposed metasurface can be achieved, with circular dichroism exceeding 0.98. © 2023 IEEE.

We investigate the magnetic excitations of the two-dimensional(2D)S=1/2 trimerized Heisenberg models with intratrimer interaction J_(1) and inter-trimer interaction J_(2) on four different lattices using a combination of stochastic series expansion quantum Monte Carlo(SSE QMC)and stochastic analytic continuation methods(SAC),complemented by cluster perturbation theory(CPT).These models exhibit quasi-particle-like excita-tions when g=J_(2)/J_(1) is weak,characterized by low-energy magnons,inter-mediate-energy doublons,and high-energy *** low-energy magnons are associated with the magnetic ground *** can be described by the linear spin wave theory(LSWT)of the effective block spin model and the original spin *** and quartons emerge from the corresponding internal excitations of the trimers with distinct energy levels,which can be effectively analyzed using perturbative calcu-lation when the ratio of exchange interactions g is *** this weak g regime,we observe a clear separation between the magnon and higher-energy *** g increases,doublon and quarton gradually merge into the magnon modes or some ***,in the Collinear Ⅱ and trimerized Hexagon lattice,a broad continuum emerges above the single-magnon spectrum,originating from the quasi-1D physics due to the dilute connections between *** addition,we also compare our numerical results to the experimental RIxS spectrum and analyze the *** numerical analysis of these 2D trimers yields valuable theoretical predic-tions and explanations for the inelastic neutron scattering(INS)spectra of 2D magnetic materials featuring trimerized lattices.
