Detecting human key points from a single image is very challenging due to occlusion, blurring, illumination and scale changes. In this paper, this problem is addressed by designing an effective network structure. Since global and local information plays an important role in reasoning about human body structure and invisible keypoints, Multi-level Attention Network (MAN) is proposed. First, compared with traditional multi-resolution networks, it enables multi-resolution feature maps with greater information variance by generating them directly from the highest resolution feature map, which in turn increases the abundance of feature information after final fusion. Secondly, it effectively integrates global and local information in different resolution feature maps through the Feature Alignment Attention Block(FAAB), and intensifies them in a targeted manner. On the COCO dataset, with HRNet (Sun K. et al [1]) as the baseline network, HRNet of inserted MAN improves 1.1-2.3 AP points over the baseline network.

One of the problems with Smart Transportation is the problem of cost and travel time. This problem is known as the Variable Routing Problem (VRP). In some real cases, in addition to considering route selection, there are limitations on the capacity and time period for the vehicle to serve each customer known as Time Windows, so VRP has developed into Variable Routing Problem with Time Windows (VRPTW). One way to solve VRPTW is to use metaheuristic methods. However, the metaheuristic method has a weakness, which are it can get stuck in local optimums and fail to find better global solutions. To overcome this, a combination with other methods or known as hybrid is needed. The formulation of this research problem is how to develop a Smart transportation model using a metaheuristic hybrid algorithm. The purpose of this study is to develop a Smart transportation model using a metaheuristic hybrid algorithm. The method used is to combine two metaheuristic algorithms, which are the Dragonfly Algorithm (DA) and the Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS). The result of this research is a new algorithm model which is a hybrid between DA and VNS. Through a combination of global exploration using DA and local exploitation using VNS, this algorithm is expected to be able to find a better solution and faster convergence in solving VRPTW problems

Illumination Distillation Framework for Nighttime Person Re-Identification and A New Benchmark

Nighttime person Re-ID (person re-identification in the nighttime) is a very important and challenging task for visual surveillance but it has not been thoroughly investigated. Under the low illumination condition, the performance of person Re-ID methods usually sharply deteriorates. To address the low illumination challenge in nighttime person Re-ID, this paper proposes an Illumination Distillation Framework (IDF), which utilizes illumination enhancement and illumination distillation schemes to promote the learning of Re-ID models. Specifically, IDF consists of a master branch, an illumination enhancement branch, and an illumination distillation module. The master branch is used to extract the features from a nighttime image. The illumination enhancement branch first estimates an enhanced image from the nighttime image using a nonlinear curve mapping method and then extracts the enhanced features. However, nighttime and enhanced features usually contain data noise due to unstable lighting conditions and enhancement failures. To fully exploit the complementary benefits of nighttime and enhanced features while suppressing data noise, we propose an illumination distillation module. In particular, the illumination distillation module fuses the features from two branches through a bottleneck fusion model and then uses the fused features to guide the learning of both branches in a distillation manner. In addition, we build a real-world nighttime person Re-ID dataset, named Night600, which contains 600 identities captured from different viewpoints and nighttime illumination conditions under complex outdoor environments. Experimental results demonstrate that our IDF can achieve state-of-the-art performance on two nighttime person Re-ID datasets (i.e., Night600 and Knight ). Instance segmentation is a comprehensive computer vision task that involves a wide range of other tasks. Recently, the study of real-time instance segmentation methods has received more attention for the development of autonomous driving. Although existing real-time instance segmentation methods are fast, their accuracy does not meet practical needs. Most methods go for segmentation based on object detection, and their effectiveness is overly dependent on the effectiveness of detection. This paper proposes a new attention-based multiscale information fusion method based on Cheng, T. et al. [1]. Firstly, the PPM module of the baseline network is replaced with the module Multiscale Context Attention (MSCA) designed in this paper based on the baseline network, which uses atrous convolution with different ratios to obtain information of four scales, and then uses non-local attention to enhance the information of features. It can effectively suppress the interference of redundant information on the instance segmentation results. Secondly, a new feature fusion approach is designed, which no longer uses bilinear interpolation, but sub-pixel up sampling combined with attention. We did experiments related to this module on the coco dataset and demonstrated its effectiveness, with a 0.5% improvement over the baseline network.

Integrated photonic gadgets play a key function in lots of fields. The process of designing silicon optical devices mostly relies on experience to manually adjust the subtle parameters, which is laborious and ineffective. The proposed inverse design algorithms can simplify the design process of silicon optical devices, improve the design efficiency, and realize multifunctional compact devices. In this paper, two inverse design based methods are proposed to design terahertz band wavelength division multiplexer(WDM). One is based on topology optimization to design a 4-channel ultra-wideband WDM and the other employs a direct binary search technique to create a 3-channel ultra-wideband terahertz WDM, both of which have high transmission, low interference and high integration. Multifunctional photonics devices are predicted to be increasingly used in modern photonic integrated circuits due to these advantages.

Recently, CNN and Transformer hybrid networks demonstrated excellent performance in face super-resolution (FSR) tasks. Since numerous features at different scales in hybrid networks, how to fuse these multi-scale features and promote their complementarity is crucial for enhancing FSR. However, existing hybrid network-based FSR methods ignore this, only simply combining the Transformer and CNN. To address this issue, we propose an attention-guided Multi-scale interaction network (AMINet), which contains local and global feature interactions as well as encoder-decoder phases feature interactions. Specifically, we propose a Local and Global Feature Interaction Module (LGFI) to promote fusions of global features and different receptive fields' local features extracted by our Residual Depth Feature Extraction Module (RDFE). Additionally, we propose a Selective Kernel Attention Fusion Module (SKAF) to adaptively select fusions of different features within LGFI and encoder-decoder phases. Our above design allows the free flow of multi-scale features from within modules and between encoder and decoder, which can promote the complementarity of different scale features to enhance FSR. Comprehensive experiments confirm that our method consistently performs well with less computational consumption and faster inference. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

We propose a scene text detection with feature aggregation and receptive field enhancement. It mainly improves the problem of wrong text segmentation. Specifically, a Feature Aggregation and Receptive Field Enhancement Module (FARE) adopts a ladder structure and constructs multi-scale feature aggregation with multiple branches to enhance the feature representation ability of texts of different scales. We add dilated convolution to expand the range of receptive field, which increases the detection of large-scale texts in low-level feature and obtains more accurate position information. Extensive experiments on the ICDAR 2015, ICDAR 2017 MLT, and CTW1500 show that the proposed method effectively improves the detection performance of the network. Notably, our proposed method has detected a precision of 87.4% on the curved text dataset CTW1500.

Few-Shot Classification with Task-Adaptive Semantic Feature Learning

Few-shot classification aims to learn a classifier that categorizes objects of unseen classes with limited samples. One general approach is to mine as much information as possible from limited samples. This can be achieved by incorporating data from multiple modals. However, existing multi-modality methods only use additional modality in support samples while adhering to a single modal in query samples. Such approach could lead to information imbalance between support and query samples, which confounds model generalization from support to query samples. Towards this problem, we propose a task-adaptive semantic feature learning mechanism to incorporate semantic features for both support and query samples. The semantic feature learner is trained episodic-wisely by regressing from the feature vectors of the support samples. It is utilized to predict semantic features for the query samples. Such method maintains a consistent training scheme between support and query samples and enables direct model transfer from support to query data, which significantly improves model generalization. We conduct extensive experiments on four benchmarks in both inductive and tranductive settings. Results show that the proposed TasNet outperforms state-of-the-art methods with an improvement of 1% to 5% in classification accuracy, demonstrating the superiority of our method. According to the miniaturization characteristics of step impedance resonators, a step impedance bandpass filter with a center frequency of 16.55 GHz and a bandwidth of 500MHz is designed. The effects of parameter changes such as substrate resistivity and the shape of metal via etching on the performance of the filter are studied. Finally, the filter is fabricated and its performance is tested under MEMS technology.

Super-Broadband Rectifier With Wide-band Resistance Compression Network and Harmonic Cycling for RF-Harvesting

In this paper, a super-broadband (SBB) rectifier using a wideband resistance compression network (WRCN) and harmonic cycling is proposed, simulated, fabricated, measured and analyzed in detail for the harvesting of ambient Radio frequency (RF) energy. Meanwhile, impedance compression and matching are achieved to implement the SBB using WRCN and impedance operation networks. Additionally, harmonic cycling structure and bending technology are employed to improve the power conversion efficiency (PCE) and reduce the size, respectively. For demonstration, a prototype of the proposed rectifier is fabricated and measured. The measured results are in good accordance with the simulated ones, indicating that the rectifier can provide high efficiency and ultra-broadband rectification characteristics. A PCE over 50% is realized at 3.5 GHz with an input power range of 6–24 dBm, and a PCE of 75% is obtained at an input power of 18 dBm. The PCE is greater than 50% at 17 dBm with an input frequency of 2.7–4.6 GHz. This work can find significant applications in the development of RF-harvesting. © 2022, CC BY.
