This paper proposes a new affine registration algorithm for 2D point matching. It is a two-step iterative registration algorithm by soft weight assignment based on bidirectional distance. At each iteration, the affine transformation is updated by two optimization steps, in which the model data and the test data are matched from each other respectively. By the optimization of registration at separate steps during each iteration, the proposed algorithm can provide a good estimate of the accurate affine transformation in condition of poor initialization and lack of geometric assumptions on point sets. Some experiments about comparison with the current state-of-the art approaches, demonstrate the robustness and accuracy of our method.

A novel wideband 5.8GHz CPW-fed an- tenna is presented for Radio frequency identification (RFID) tag. Four U-shaped and four L-shaped branches are used as additional resonators to achieve wideband operation. The proposed antenna was analyzed numeri- cally using the Method of moment (MOM) and the Fi- nite element method (FEM). With the antenna size lim- ited to 30 × 30mm2, the ?10dB bandwidth obtained by MOM is 3.235GHz (5.765~9GHz) and the ?9.5dB band- width obtained by FEM is 2.74GHz (5.32~8.06GHz), cor- responding to 55.7% and 47.2% of the center frequency 5.8GHz respectively. Moreover, the simulated results show that the proposed antenna has gain of more than 4.8dBi and the radiation pattern is nearly omnidirectional in the H-plane. The measured ?10dB bandwidth is 2.68GHz (5.63GHz~8.31GHz), 46.2% of the 5.8GHz frequency. Fur- thermore, there are three measured resonant frequencies at 1.34GHz, 3.23GHz and 5.8GHz with lower than ?10dB return loss respectively. The measurement result achieves a wideband RFID tag antenna performance and is in good agreement with the calculated results.

In this paper we propose a methodology of multilayer filters based on tempo variation for realizing a query by humming (QBH) system. Firstly the original query clip is used to search for the candidate songs. If the results are unreliable, the clip is linearly scaled twice for more candidates. If the results are still unreliable, the clip is scaled more times for retrieval. To sort all the candidates, a new matching algorithm called key transposition recursive alignment (KTRA) is presented, which improves the retrieval accuracy. Experimental results on the 2010 MIREX QBH query corpus show that the proposed method can achieve a relative improvement of 20.9% as well as an acceleration factor of 2.09 simultaneously compared to a state-of-the-art method.

This paper proposes a spoken lyric search system, which can help users to find the wanted music based on their input spoken lyric phrases. Using spoken lyric phrases to query a music retrieval system is convenient for users but challenging for developers. In our proposed system, the spoken query will be converted into text using large vocabulary continuous speech recognition (LVCSR) technique at first, and then a list of candidate lyrics and their corresponding songs will be presented by the text retrieval techniques. To guarantee the performance of the system, we propose a novel approach to improving the current technology. Specifically, a string matching method, which is based on phoneme confusion matrix, is applied to search the most similar lyrics in acoustic respect for the multiple sentence hypotheses of the input voice;and a two-level search strategy is adopted to shorten the time consuming. Experimental results show that the proposed system achieved top-1 accuracy as high as 93.98% when the search is performed within 2,000 songs, and 83.20%, a moderately satisfying accuracy, was obtained when the targeted number of songs increased to 10,000.

This paper proposes an effective implementation of query by humming (QBH) system via hierarchical filters. Firstly locality sensitive hashing (LSH) is used to screen candidate fragments. Secondly linear scaling (LS) is applied to filter out more false candidates and a new method called linear alignment (LA) is presented to locate accurate boundaries of fragments. Then recursive alignment (RA) is employed for the remaining ones. Finally, scores of scaling factor (SF) is fused with scores of RA to rank the songs. Experiments conducted on a database of 5,000 MIDI files show that the proposed approach achieved the relative improvement of mean reciprocal rank up to 37.3% compared with the state-of-the-art method.

In this paper, we introduce a term similarity graph based microblog retrieval model. We propose an undirected weighted graph to describe each post where nodes represent terms and they are linked together based on the co-occurrences. Then an electric network is applied to calculate the resistance distances between pairs of terms. For a given query topic, mutual relevancy in between query terms and between term groups form the expansions to better describe the query. We also define a scoring and ranking model to improve search over large set of microblogs by considering both expanded words and tweets special attributes (hyperlinks and publish time). Our experiments use Twitter 2011 two weeks' data offered by TREC 2011&2012 Microblog Track. Results show that the model better overcome tweets' limited length shortage than traditional methods, good expansion terms are found and microblog retrieval performance are greatly improved by the scoring and ranking model.
