An accuracy assessment method that integrates segmentation and classification accuracy is proposed to meet the requirements of object-based image analysis. Segmentation errors are measured by establishing the relationship between pixels and their corresponding segments according to the overlaps of segments and reference polygons. Then, two improved confusion matrices that take the segmentation errors into consideration are used: one for pixel-level classification results, and the other for object-level classification results. A final accuracy assessment combines the statistics of these two confusion matrices. The proposed method can be applied to segmentation scale selection in the hierarchical interpretation system. An experiment on a SPOT5 image demonstrates the effectiveness of this method for segmentation scale selection, which can guide the fusion of objects of different scales to obtain a higher accuracy. © 2012 IEEE.

Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) is an important tool in digital signal processing. In this paper, a new algorithm to compute DWT is proposed: first, based on the previous work of performing discrete Fourier transform (DFT) via linear sums of discrete moments, we introduce a multiplierless DFT by performing appropriate bit operations and shift operations in binary system;then by convolution theorem, the computation is transformed to the computation of DFT. In addition, a efficient systolic array is designed to implement the DWT which is a demonstration of the locality of dataflow in the algorithms. The approach is also applicable to multi-dimensional DWT. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

Owing to the weaknesses of existing correlation detection methods in digital fingerprint matching, such as difficult to determine the threshold and low matching accuracy rate, a method proposed in digital fingerprint matching based on synergetic, which was applied in pattern recognition. Then, the experimental result indicated that the method proposed in the paper has a high matching rate. ©2009 IEEE.

A novel authentication watermarking scheme for images is proposed in this paper, which holds accuracy location and high security at the same time. In the scheme, different keys are selected for different host data, and the generation and insertion of watermark is dependent on the selected key. Analyzing different pieces of watermarked data in order to launch an attack becomes impossible because of the lack of common characteristics in these pieces. Beside, to increase the security of system, the chaos technology is used to encrypt the watermark and shuffle the location of embedding. A method for tamper detecting based on the running window is proposed in the scheme. Not only can it distinguish malicious attacks from unintentional attacks, but also it can locate the tampered area accurately. Experimental results show this semi-fragile watermarking algorithm is effective and practical for content authentication. ©2010 IEEE.

Digital watermarking has been proposed for the copyright protections of multimedia products. In this paper, a robust and blind watermarking scheme is presented. The concept of communication with side information is applied at the encoder to improve the probability of detection within acceptable fidelity, while the template matching technique is employed to estimate the undergone attacks in attacking channel. This scheme is optimized by the optimal design of the encoder to match with the media content and the decoder to adapt to the attack channel state. Experiments show that our method is robust against some common attacks such as filtering, compression, rotation, scaling, cropping and translation. It can be applied to both color and gray images.

It is very necessary to observe, tracking and recognise interested space object including space debris around the earth. A simulation method about ground-based sensor observing, tracking and imaging space object is researched. It includes the visibility analysis of space object in the STK scene, the attitude description mode of object, the data alternant form and format between STK and Vega, the imaging method of the object through Vega and the visual realization of the process. ©2010 IEEE.

Cervical cytologic screening is clinically important for the prevention and diagnosis of cervical cancer. Aiming at the many challenges in the detection of abnormal cervical cells, including the difficult detection of small targets of abnormal cervical cells, complex backgrounds, and uneven cell morphology, a detection algorithm for abnormal cervical cells based on improved YOLOv7 was proposed. The algorithm utilizes Deformable Convolutional Networks v2 (DCNv2) that adaptively de-tunes the scale and receptive field size to more effectively cope with the complexity and diversity of cervical cell images. The experimental results show that the improved YOLOv7 algorithm mAP achieves 57.26%, up to 73.88% accuracy, and 46.90% recall on the cervical abnormal cell dataset. Compared with the benchmark model, they increased by 4.07%, 3.39%, and 5.69%, respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, a semi-fragile watermark solution based on quantization index modulation in the wavelet region was proposed. The algorithm employs a compressed halftoned binary image as watermark and embeds it in the wavelet domain through quantization index modulation, which can not only identify the authenticity of the content of digital image, but also recover the tampered image approximately. Because the watermark is a low-resolution original image, which carries the original image information, so the original image is not required when authenticating, and the tampered region can be recovered according to the watermark. The method can tolerate a certain degree of compression distortion or noise. Beside, a secret key is used to select the embedded watermark bits and their embedded positions to increase the security of watermarking. Experimental results show this semi-fragile watermarking algorithm is effective and practical for content authentication. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

Fault tolerance is a central issue in the design and implementation of interconnection networks for large parallel systems. Connection probability of a network is a good network fault tolerance measure. For a mesh of given size and node failure probability, the gap between the known upper and lower bounds on the connection probability is often very large. In this paper we design algorithms to estimate the connection probability for 2-D meshes by Monte Carlo methods. The experiment is carefully designed and performed, and the simulation results give good estimates of the connection probability for 2-D meshes and can be used to evaluate the known lower and upper bounds on connection probability for 2-D meshes. ©2011 IEEE.

The recent increase of space threats yields the idea of using the existing star trackers to perform surveillance of space objects from space. In the missions, due to the observer attitude dynamics, smearing affects the observed stars on the image in space surveillance. Besides, the reflecting flying space objects or debris as spurious stars affects the attitude determination. These are devastating for most star identification algorithms in star trackers. To resolve the problems, this paper defines a star pattern, called Flower code, which is composed of angular distances and circular angles as the characteristics of the pivot star. The angular distances are used for initial lookup table match. Moreover, the circular angles are used for the cyclic dynamic match between the sensor pattern and the pattern candidates from the initial match. The focus of the results is the evaluation of the influence of the reflecting flying spacecraft or debris as spurious stars and the attitude dynamics of the observer spacecraft, on the performance of the algorithms. A number of experiments are carried out on simulated images. The results demonstrated that the proposed method is efficient and robust. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.
