In the face of complex background and severe weather environment, infrared polarization detection has obvious advantages. In this paper, the ship target detection method based on infrared polarization image is studied and the ship target infrared polarization image detection method based on local contrast is proposed. The ship target detection accuracy of the proposed algorithm is 0.956, and the false alarm rate of the ship detection is low, which verifies the effectiveness of the detection algorithm in detecting the ship target, which has great application value in military applications.

There are two basic approaches for LFM (linear frequency modulation) signal pulse compression – matched filtering and Dechrip. For high-resolution imaging of small scenes, Dechirp is much more popular because it requires a lower sampling rate. However, the transmission signal of demodulation needs to be an ideal chirped signal for Dechirp. When linear modulation cannot be guaranteed accurately, the compression result will be spatially defocused, which causes the compensation complicated. This paper first derives the equivalence of matched filtering and Dechirp processing. Then, for the Dechirp received signal, this paper proposes a pulse compression method for nonlinear FM signals based on matched filtering without upsampling. Finally, the feasibility of the method was verified through experiments.

The vehicle-mounted millimeter-wave forward-looking imaging is a research hotspot in the radar field recently. If imaging is done only through the real aperture, the azimuth resolution of the radar will be still greatly restricted for the limitation of the aperture size. Considering the movement of the car itself, the synthetic aperture principle can be used to improve the azimuth resolution. However, synthetic aperture radar cannot completely solve the problem due to the blind area and left-right blurring of forward-looking area imaging (a small angular range directly in front). To this end, a new real aperture synthetic aperture joint imaging method is proposed, in which the real aperture can solve the problem of radar left and right blur, and can image at the forward-looking area. For the squint area, the length of the synthetic aperture is often longer than the real aperture, so higher resolution can be obtained by using synthetic aperture processing. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate the correctness of the back projection algorithm used in this vehicle-mounted forward look radar.

3D single object tracking within LIDAR point clouds is a pivotal task in computer vision, with profound implications for autonomous driving and robotics. However, existing methods, which depend solely on appearance matching via Siamese networks or utilize motion information from successive frames, encounter significant challenges. Issues such as similar objects nearby or occlusions can result in tracker drift. To mitigate these challenges, we design an innovative spatio-temporal bi-directional cross-frame distractor filtering tracker, named STMD-Tracker. Our first step involves the creation of a 4D multi-frame spatio-temporal graph convolution backbone. This design separates KNN graph spatial embedding and incorporates 1D temporal convolution, effectively capturing temporal fluctuations and spatio-temporal information. Subsequently, we devise a novel bi-directional cross-frame memory procedure. This integrates future and synthetic past frame memory to enhance the current memory, thereby improving the accuracy of iteration-based tracking. This iterative memory update mechanism allows our tracker to dynamically compensate for information in the current frame, effectively reducing tracker drift. Lastly, we construct spatially reliable Gaussian masks on the fused features to eliminate distractor points. This is further supplemented by an object-aware sampling strategy, which bolsters the efficiency and precision of object localization, thereby reducing tracking errors caused by distractors. Our extensive experiments on KITTI, NuScenes and Waymo datasets demonstrate that our approach significantly surpasses the current state-ofthe-art methods. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEνNS) provides a unique probe for neutrino properties beyond the Standard Model physics. The reactor neutrino liquid xenon coherent scattering experiment (RELICS), a proposed reactor neutrino program using liquid xenon time projection chamber technology, aims to investigate the CEνNS process of antineutrinos off xenon atomic nuclei. In this work, the design of the experiment is studied and optimized based on Monte Carlo simulations. To achieve a sufficiently low-energy threshold for CEνNS detection, an ionization-only analysis channel is adopted for RELICS. A high emission rate of delayed electrons after a big ionization signal is the major background, leading to an analysis threshold of 120 photoelectrons in the CEνNS search. The second largest background, nuclear recoils induced by cosmic-ray neutrons, is suppressed via a passive water shield. The physics potential of RELICS is explored with a 30 kg·yr exposure at a baseline of 25 m from a reactor core with a 3 GW thermal power. In an energy range of 120–300 photoelectrons, corresponding to an average nuclear recoil from 0.63 to 1.36 keV considering the liquid xenon response and detector-related effect, we expect 4639.7 CEνNS and 1687.8 background events. The sensitivity of RELICS to the weak mixing angle is investigated at a low momentum transfer. Our study shows that RELICS can further improve the constraints on the nonstandard neutrino interaction compared to the current best results.

Photo-thermo-refractive (PTR) glasses exhibit promising characteristics for volume Bragg grating fabrication, one of key devices for construction of high performance lasers, among other optical device and systems. Aiming at employing this type of glass materials in the field of integrated photonics, buried optical channel waveguide is manufactured in PTR glass substrate by Ag+/Na+ thermal ion exchange and subsequent field assisted ion migration. The Ag+ doped zone in glass substrate, which is also the waveguide core, can be driven to several micrometers under the glass substrate surface, which decreases the propagation loss to a value as low as 0.12dB/cm, by eliminate scattering loss at glass substrate defects. Cross section of the waveguide core can be also engineered to match the core of single mode fiber, ensures a low coupling loss to single mode fiber. Analysis demonstrated that the buried optical waveguide fabrication proves can be expected to be applied in functional integrated optical device implementation. © 2023 SPIE.

Photo-thermo-refractive (PTR) glasses are a new category of materials that possess special characteristics of refractive index decrement induced by UV exposure and subsequent thermal development. PTR glasses have been extensively utilized for the fabrication of various volume Bragg grating, and are expected to play an important role in the construction of high-performance guided-wave devices. Investigations on the optical waveguide fabrication process in thermally developed PTR glass Substrate are demonstrated. Optical grade PTR glass of the SiO2-Al2O3-Na2O-ZnO-NaFKBr system and doped with Ce, Ag, Sb, and Sn, is firstly melted, and then glass wafers made of the homemade PTR glass are UV exposed and thermal developed, during which nanometer-sized NaF crystalline is formed in these PTR glass wafers. The thermally developed PTR glass wafers are finally subjected to conventional glass-based optical waveguide melt salt thermal Ag+/Na+ ion exchange and subsequently field-assisted ion diffusion for waveguide fabrication. Results exhibited that buried channel optical waveguide, with Ag+ doped waveguide core dimension of approximately 9.5μm×8.6μm buried 5.2μm under the substrate surface can be obtained by the current procedure. In the current paper, the feasibility of implementing buried waveguide fabrication in thermally developed PTR glass materials is experimentally demonstrated. Since the shape and dimension of the waveguide core is well matched to that of single-mode fiber, and the buried waveguide eliminates scattering loss at the glass substrate surface, the buried optical waveguide is expected to find applications in guided-wave device fabrication. © 2023 SPIE.

To achieve fast, accurate, and stable rotation speed control for the ring-pendulum double-sided polisher (RDP), this paper proposes an improved super twisting sliding mode active disturbance rejection control (ISTSMADRC) method for RDP. This method increases the disturbance rejection ability of the system through the extended state observer of the ADRC. Meanwhile, the super twisting sliding mode (STSM) control is improved by the boundary layer method, and the ISTSM control law replaces the error feedback control law of the ADRC controller, then the response speed of system is enhanced. The performance of controller is analyzed by step response test, tracking performance test, and robustness test. The results show that the ISTSMADRC controller has fast response speed, high control accuracy, good tracking performance, and strong robustness.
