Combined heat and power (CHP) can simultaneously produce electrical and thermal energy. CHP is an important and main component of the power system in areas with heat demand. However, its operating mode limits the flexibility of the system and aggravates the waste of renewable energy. This paper presents a coordinate dispatch algorithm for electric heating integrated energy system (EHIES), a combined heat and power system with wind power. An efficient optimization algorithm based on dynamic programming (DP) is developed, which overcomes the challenges of solving high dimensional optimization problems for the EHIES. The results of simulation experiments show that the proposed coordinate dispatch algorithm can meet the scheduling time requirements, reduce the operating cost of the system and realize the full consumption of wind power.

Atmospheric glyoxal(GLY) and methylglyoxal(MGLY) are key precursors of secondary organic aerosol(SOA). However, anthropogenic emissions of GLY and MGLY and their contribution to surface GLY and MGLY concentrations, as well as the secondary organic aerosol(SOA) formation, are not well quantified. By developing an emission inventory of anthropogenic GLY and MGLY and improving Community Multiscale Air Quality Model(CMAQ) with SOA formation from irreversible surface uptake of GLY and MGLY, as well as a precursor-origin resolved technique, we quantified the source contributions of GLY and MGLY and their impact on wintertime SOA formation in Beijing, China. The total emissions of GLY and MGLY in Beijing in 2017 are 1.1×10～4 kmol and 7.0×10～3 kmol, respectively. Anthropogenic primary emissions are found to be the dominant contributor to GLY and MGLY concentrations(～74% for GLY and ～63% for MGLY). Anthropogenic primary emissions of GLY and MGLY contributes to 30% of GLY/MGLY SOA daily average concentration and accounts for up to 45% of nighttime GLY/MGLY SOA. The study suggests that the anthropogenic GLY and MGLY emissions, mainly from gasoline vehicles and cooking, are important for SOA formation and shall be strictly controlled in Chinese megacities.

Vertically integrated outdoor in-site line protection based on SoC technique

By focusing on the problems of speed, reliability, operation and maintenance in the practical application of line protection in conventional and smart substations, we propose system architecture and a technical scheme for in-site(similar in meaning to on-site or near-process) line protection based on vertical integration and outdoor installation. The functions of the single-bay merging unit, relay protection, and intelligent terminal are vertically integrated to reduce the number and types of devices, simplify the configuration, reduce signal transmission, and shorten the protection action time. In addition, this vertically integrated device is applied to provide data acquisition and control execution support for substation-area protection, security and stability of devices, and other substation-area devices. The vital performance outputs are tested and compared. Finally, the experimental results verify that the proposed scheme is feasible and the technology is advanced.

A trend in nowadays data centers is that equipped with SSD, HDD, etc., heterogeneous storage devices are widely deployed to meet diverse demands of various big data workloads. Since the reading performance of various storage devices are quite different, traditional concurrent data fetching easily incurs unbalanced use among devices. As a result, the straggler in terms of the data fetching, derived from the unbalanced use, directly increases the overall latency of data analytics. To avoid such unbalanced use on fetching large volume of data concurrently from storage devices, we formulate Workload-Aware Scheduling problem for Heterogeneous storage devices (WASH), the goal of which is to minimize the maximum data fetching time for parallel data analytical tasks. We design a randomized algorithm (rWASH) to select a proper source device for each task based on delicate calculated probabilities, which can be proved concentrated on its optimum with high probability. Extensive experiments show that rWASH reduces the average data fetching time for tasks by up to 55% over the state-of-the-art algorithms.

With the expending scale of the power grid and the substantial development of renewable energy generation system, the demand for power quality is becoming more and more significant. The doubly fed pumped storage can be an effective method to control the power of the power grid and restrain the power grid fluctuation caused by renewable energy generation. First, this study introduces the structure of doubly fed pumped storage unit, and analyses the mathematical model of reversible hydraulic pump turbine, doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) and control strategy of the converter. On the basis of the model of reversible hydraulic pump turbine and DFIG, control strategies of the dq decoupling and synchronous rotating coordinate system are studied to output the active and reactive power. Second, the models of generating mode and pumping mode for the doubly fed pumped storage unit are established. Third, for the grid power regulation, active power and speed control strategy in generating mode, pumping mode are put forward. Finally, the model of doubly fed pumped storage unit of 300 MW is established in MATLAB/Simulink. The proposed control strategy is verified by the simulation results. © 2017 Institution of Engineering and Technology. All Rights Reserved.

As advances in networking technology help to connect industrial control networks with the Internet, the threat from spammers, attackers and criminal enterprises has also grown accordingly. However, traditional Network Intrusion Detection system makes significant use of pattern matching to identify malicious behaviors and have bad performance on detecting zero-day exploits in which a new attack is employed. In this paper, a novel method of anomaly detection in industrial control network is proposed based on RNN-GBRBM feature decoder. The method employ network packets and extract high-quality features from raw features which is selected manually. A modified RNN-RBM is trained using the normal traffic in order to learn feature patterns of the normal network behaviors. Then the test traffic is analyzed against the learned normal feature pattern by using osPCA to measure the extent to which the test traffic resembles the learned feature pattern. Moreover, we design a semi-supervised incremental updating algorithm in order to improve the performance of the model continuously. Experiments show that our method is more efficient in anomaly detection than other traditional approaches for industrial control network. In this paper, the voltage waveform along π-type equivalent circuit is analysed for different number of the chained circuits. Next, the relationship between the number of chained circuits and the wave frequencies is discussed based on the relative error of the cascaded matrix (relative to the transfer matrix). For 50Hz, 32 chained π-type circuits can ensure the relative error of the cascaded matrix is less than 3%. The greater frequency is, the more the number of chained circuits required to establish good equivalence between the lumped-circuits and the transmission line. These works are instructive for the physical analogy of HWACT lines.
