Increasing penetration of renewable energy generation poses a challenge to power system inertia *** is vital to provide long-term incentive signals to induce a generation mix with adequate inertia ***,existing literature rarely studies inertia incentive mechanisms or considers inertia constraints when making generation investment ***,we propose an inertia market to quantify the value of inertia and to remunerate inertia *** examine the impacts of the inertia market on generation mix,we then propose a stochastic bilevel generation investment equilibrium model that depicts a multi-leader and multi-follower Stackelberg *** lower level of the model considers the proposed inertia market,along with the energy,reserve,and capacity *** upper level considers multiple profit-maximizing strategic producers,and each producer is able to build gas-fired generators,wind generators,and energy *** experiments demonstrate that a generation mix with adequate inertia supply can be induced with the proposed inertia market whereas there can be inertia shortage without the inertia ***,considering carbon taxes,it is more cost-competitive to invest in wind resources with virtual inertia facilities than to substitute wind resources by thermal ***,the introduction of an inertia market does not significantly reduce wind generation shares but boosts virtual inertia facility *** findings imply a future power system powered by fully decarbonized power resources with adequate inertia.

This paper presents resilience-oriented transmission expansion planning(RTEP)with optimal transmission switching(OTS)model under typhoon *** proposed model carefully considers the uncertainty of component vulnerability by constructing a typhoon-related box uncertainty set where component failure rate varies within a range closely related with typhoon ***,a min-max-min model is developed to enhance transmission network resilience,where the upper level minimizes transmission lines investment,the middle level searches for the probability distribution of failure status leading to max worst-case expected load-shedding(WCEL)under typhoon,and the lower level optimizes WCEL by economic dispatch(ED)and OTS.A nested decomposition algorithm based on benders decomposition is developed to solve the *** studies of modified IEEE 30-bus and 261-bus system of a Chinese region illustrate that:a)the proposed RTEP method can enhance resilience of transmission network with less investment than widely used RTEP method based on attacker and defender(DAD)model,b)the influence of OTS on RTEP is closely related with contingency severity and system scale and c)the RTEP model can be efficiently solved even in a large-scale system.

Currently,the dominant trend in new energy power supply systems is the heterogeneous inverters-paralleled system(HIPS),which is a combination of grid-following(GFL)and grid-forming(GFM)*** dynamic characteristics of different inverters in HIPS and the differences between GFL and GFM inverters undoubtedly increase the difficulty of the stability analysis and coordinated *** paper establishes an interactive admittance matrix model of HIPS,fully considers the interactive effects among different inverters,and explores the multi-dimensional resonance characteristics of HIPS by utilizing the modal analysis *** achieve the coordinated control and oscillation suppression among different inverters,a frequency-divided compensation strategy is proposed,which divides the operation modes of HIPS into three categories,i.e.,GFM,GFL,and hybrid ***,the frequency division boundary is determined based on the resonance characteristics of GFL and GFM inverters,with the operation modes of HIPS being dynamically adjusted according to the harmonic power ***,the simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the HIPS can flexibly adjust the operation modes to adapt to the complex conditions after adopting the frequency-divided compensation strategy and suppressing the oscillation frequency ratio to less than 2%,ensuring the safe and reliable operation of HIPS.

In this paper,we propose a two-stage transmission hardening and planning(TH&P)model that can meet the load growth demand of normal scenarios and the resilience requirements of hurricane-induced damage *** better measure the resilience requirements,the proposed TH&P model includes two resilience assessment indexes,namely,the load shedding(LS)under the damage scenario and the average connectivity degree(ACD)at different *** first-stage model,which aims to meet the load growth demand while minimizing the LS,is formulated as a mixed-integer linear program(MILP)to minimize the total planning and hardening cost of transmission lines,the operating cost of generators,and the penalty cost of wind power and load shedding in both normal and damage *** second-stage model aims to further improve the ACD when the ACD of the scheme obtained from the first-stage model cannot reach the ***,the contribution of each transmission line to the ACD is calculated,and the next hardened line is determined to increase the *** process is repeated until the ACD meets the *** studies of the modified IEEE RTS-24 and two-area IEEE reliability test system-1996 indicate the proposed TH&P model can meet the requirements for both normal and damage scenarios.
