Distance and similarity measures have recently been investigated in-depth within the context of hesitant fuzzy sets. By analyzing the existing studies concerning distance measures for hesitant fuzzy sets, we find that they have some limitations. To address the flaws, this study develops some novel distance measures for hesitant fuzzy sets, including the normalized Euclidean distance measure, the Hausdorff metric distance measure, the normalized generalized distance measure, and their corresponding weighted distance measures. The proposals of this study not only hold many ideal characteristics but also do not consider the lengths of hesitant fuzzy elements as well as the arrangement of their possible values. To deal with the situations where both of the universe of discourse and the weight of element are continuous, some continuous hesitant fuzzy distance measures are also investigated. Based on the relationship between distance measure and similarity measure, some novel similarity measures for hesitant fuzzy sets can be further deduced from the proposed distance measures. Finally, two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the applicability and validity of the proposed hesitant fuzzy distance measures. © 2018 - IOS Press and the authors. All rights reserved.

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many governments around the world to implement strict lockdown measures and order citizens to stay at home, which has caused a major change in travel patterns. This study leveraged electric vehicle charging big data in Hefei, Anhui Province, China to estimate electric vehicle charging demand in the absence of the COVID-19 pandemic using multi-layer perceptron model, which quantified the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, we employed the vector autoregressive model to investigate the dynamic relationships between the changes in charging demand and various explanatory factors. The results suggest that the daily average charging demand in Hefei decreased by 78.3 % compared to the predicted value during the pandemic. Furthermore, according to the variance decomposition and impulse response function analysis, national confirmed COVID-19 cases play a dominant role in reducing charging demand. The number of daily hospitalizations and Migration Scale Index also have significant and robust effect on the decrease in charging demand. The Air Quality Index and Baidu Index are susceptible to external factors and do not have a direct impact on the change in charging demand. Findings support a better understanding of changes in travel behavior during the pandemic and provide policy makers with references to deal with similar events.

This paper introduces Copula approach, which has been widely used in statistical field, to the construction of OLAP cubes for the first time. Based on this approach, a novel scheme is proposed to compress data and answer any OLAP query without accessing raw data. The procedure of this scheme can be generally divided into three steps. Firstly, find the proper distribution functions to fit the marginal distribution of each attribute. Secondly, employ Copula approach to catch the intra relationship among attributes in a data set. Finally, use the probability density function of joint distribution to calculate the aggregation function. Empirical evidence shows that this Copula-based model can not only drastically reduce storage requirements but also save the query response time, while the accuracy is bounded under a given level.

Pignistic probability distance can describe evidence distance accurately. The paper calculates the similarity of evidence based on Pignistic probability distance, then determines the relative weight of evidence. In the Dempster’s combination rule, every piece of evidence has equal importance, which severely limits the application of evidence theory, thus we revise the combination rule by introducing the weight into it. The system simulation shows that the revised combination rule reaches better result which in accordance with basic human cognition. © 2016, UK Simulation Society. All rights reserved.

Previous studies recognize pain expressions based on the entire face, for example, Prkachin and Solomon Pain intensity (PSPI). However, the patients face is often masked by instruments in an intensive care unit (ICU), such as respirator, and gauzes, just name a few, which causes the agent cannot measure the pain intensity using PSPI directly. To tackle this problem, we explore the pain intensity recognition from masked face. First, we conducted four levels of pain measurement experiments with four types of masked face using Swin-Transformer. Experiment results show that the accuracy of pain measurement is more than 90%, even masking a large part of facial Action Units (AU) related to the pain on the UNBC-McMaster dataset. Furthermore, we pre-train the pain recognition model with masked face dataset, such that the model can capture facial features contributed to the pain. Results on binary and four-level pain intensity measurement tasks show our model outperforms recent state-of-the-art performance, achieving 97.38% and 95.25% accuracy, respectively.

In the multi agent system, negotiation between different agents becomes more and more complex when the distributed tasks need to be allocated among them. Usually, this process has been done in the centralized way where agents have all the information of both the tasks and the environment. However, in the real application such as satellite scheduling problem or production scheduling problem, not all the information can be acquired, some of them even cannot be known. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a multi agent negotiation model for distributed task allocation in a priority based environment. This process is modeled as a finite Markov decision process (FMDP), and a coordinated negotiation protocol is also suggested to support the model. The experiments show that tasks are allocated in an efficient way, and it can also reduce the communication cost.

Marine high-end equipment reflects a country's comprehensive national strength. The safety assessment of it is very important to avoid accident either from human or facility factors. Attribute structure and assessment approach are two key points in the safety assessment of marine high-end equipment. In this paper, we construct a hierarchical attribute structure based on literature review and text mining of reports and news. The hierarchical attribute structure includes human, equipment, environment and management level. The correlations among these attributes are analyzed. The assessment standards of attributes are described in details. Different evaluation grades associated with attributes are transformed to a unified one by the given rules. As for the assessment approach, the evidential reasoning approach is applied for uncertain information fusion. Group analytical hierarchical process is used to generate attribute weights from a group of experts, where process aggregation method and result aggregation method are combined in a comprehensive way. The importance of expert is computed by the uncertainty measure of expert's subjective judgment. A drilling platform is finally assessed by the proposed attribute structure and assessment approach to illustrate the effectiveness of the assessment framework. © 2024 - IOS Press. From the perspective of supporting decision making, a statistical model is built in this paper in order to realize the tradeoff between the accuracy of OLAP queries and the efficiency of OLAP processes. Kernel density estimate and Copula method are employed on the multidimensional datasets to fit the marginal distribution and the joint distribution respectively, by which the dependence among dimensions is adequately explored. The synopsis information of OLAP multidimensional datasets is stored in the statistical model instead of keeping the raw data in the system, which drastically reduces the data storage space while the time spent on the OLAP query process is also reduced. The performance test and contrast experiment between Copula-based method and the classic GENHist histogram method are performed to verify that the statistical model proposed in this paper can provide the users with approximate answers of OLAP queries under the appropriate accuracy rate while improve the efficiency and flexibility of OLAP queries. © 2011 by Binary Information Press.

Service supply chain features human players as service vendor, service integrator, customer and service resource. It tends to be digitally connected, such as consulting, e-business and integrated enterprises. Our study uses a formal model and simulations to develop the effect of a service supply chain on equilibrium computation. Two insights arise on how a network can obtain equilibrium computation: forming the network structure of service supply chain; exploring entities behavior and equilibrium conditions. These results highlight the importance for service supply chain of adapting its network structure to equilibrium and application.

Empirical analysis of the factors of government administrative preparation of China

A previous study conducted in Anhui Province by collecting data from 56 county-level governments in 2009 has shown that the factors of demographic, financial and geographical area have linear relationship with government administrative preparation. The administrative preparation of county-level government increased with the size of population, expenditure and geographical area. Geographical area has great impact on administrative preparation, followed by least impact of financial and population. Taking a county government for example, the geographical area is unchanged but household population changed slowly. So the main factor affected the total administrative preparation is financial expenditure. In the process of approving the county government administrative preparation should consider several factors, such as population movements around. The main objective of this study is to prove that administrative preparation should be based on resident population rather than household population. © 2015 American Scientific Publishers.
