Feverfew: a scalable coverage-based hybrid overlay for Internet-scale pub/sub networks

The publish/subscribe(pub/sub)paradigm is a popular communication model for data dissemination in large-scale distributed ***,scalability comes with a contradiction between the delivery latency and the memory *** one hand,constructing a separate overly per topic guarantees real-time dissemination,while the number of node degrees rapidly increases with the number of *** the other hand,maintaining a bounded number of connections per node guarantees small memory cost,while each message has to traverse a large number of uninterested nodes before reaching the *** this paper,we propose Feverfew,a coverage-based hybrid overlay that disseminates messages to all subscribers without uninterested nodes involved in,and increases the average number of node connections slowly with an increase in the number of subscribers and *** major novelty of Feverfew lies in its heuristic coverage mechanism implemented by combining a gossip-based sampling protocol with a probabilistic searching *** on the practical workload,our experimental results show that Feverfew significantly outperforms existing coverage-based overlay and DHT-based overlay in various dynamic network environments.

Jammer Localization for Wireless Sensor Networks

Jamming attack can severely affect the performance of Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) due to the broadcast nature of wireless medium. In order to localize the source of the attacker, we in this paper propose a jammer localization algorithm named as Minimum-circlecovering based localization (MCCL). Comparing with the existing solutions that rely on the wireless propagation parameters, MCCL only depends on the location information of sensor nodes at the border of the jammed region. MCCL uses the plane geometry knowledge, especially the minimum circle covering technique, to form an approximate jammed region, and hence the center of the jammed region is treated as the estimated position of the jammer. Simulation results showed that MCCL is able to achieve higher accuracy than other existing solutions in terms of jammer's transmission range and sensitivity to nodes' density.

Experimental verification of the parasitic bipolar amplification effect in PMOS single event transients

The contribution of parasitic bipolar amplification to SETs is experimentally verified using two P-hit target chains in the normal layout and in the special layout. For PMOSs in the normal layout, the single-event charge collection is composed of diffusion, drift, and the parasitic bipolar effect, while for PMOSs in the special layout, the parasitic bipolar junction transistor cannot turn on. Heavy ion experimental results show that PMOSs without parasitic bipolar amplification have a 21.4% decrease in the average SET pulse width and roughly a 40.2% reduction in the SET cross-section.

Fast garment simulation with aid of hybrid bones

A data-driven method was proposed to realistically animate garments on human poses in reduced space. Firstly, a gradient based method was extended to generate motion sequences and garments were simulated on the sequences as our training data. Based on the examples, the proposed method can fast output realistic garments on new poses. Our framework can be mainly divided into offline phase and online phase. During the offline phase, based on linear blend skinning(LBS), rigid bones and flex bones were estimated for human bodies and garments, respectively. Then, rigid bone weight maps on garment vertices were learned from examples. In the online phase, new human poses were treated as input to estimate rigid bone transformations. Then, both rigid bones and flex bones were used to drive garments to fit the new poses. Finally, a novel formulation was also proposed to efficiently deal with garment-body penetration. Experiments manifest that our method is fast and accurate. The intersection artifacts are fast removed and final garment results are quite realistic.

Comparison of heavy-ion induced SEU for D- and TMR-flip-flop designs in 65-nm bulk CMOS technology

Heavy ion experiments were performed on D flip-flop(DFF) and TMR flip-flop(TMRFF) fabricated in a 65-nm bulk CMOS process. The experiment results show that TMRFF has about 92% decrease in SEU crosssection compared to the standard DFF design in static test mode. In dynamic test mode, TMRFF shows much stronger frequency dependency than the DFF design, which reduces its advantage over DFF at higher operation frequency. At 160 MHz, the TMRFF is only 3.2× harder than the standard DFF. Such small improvement in the SEU performance of the TMR design may warrant reconsideration for its use in hardening design.

Broadcast authentication is a critical security service in wireless sensor networks. A protocol named μTESLA^[1] has been proposed to provide efficient authentication service for such networks. However, when applied to applications such as time synchronization and fire alarm in which broadcast messages are sent infrequently, μTESLA encounters problems of wasted key resources and slow message verification. This paper presents a new protocol named GBA (Generalized broadcast authentication), for efficient broadcast authentication in these applications. GBA utilises the one-way key chain mechanism of μTESLA, but modifies the keys and time intervals association, and changes the key disclosure mechanism according to the message transmission model in these applications. The proposed technique can take full use of key resources, and shorten the message verification time to an acceptable level. The analysis and experiments show that GBA is more efficient and practical than μESLA in appli ations with various message transmission models.

This paper proposes a Risk-Averse Just-In-Time (RAJIT) operation scheme for Ammonia-Hydrogen-based Micro-Grids (AHMGs) to boost electricity-hydrogen-ammonia coupling under uncertainties. First, an off-grid AHMG model is developed, featuring a novel multi-mode ammonia synthesis process and a hydrogen-ammonia dual gas turbine with tunable feed-in ratios. Subsequently, a state-behavior mapping strategy linking hydrogen storage levels with the operation modes of ammonia synthesis is established to prevent cost-ineffective shutdowns. The proposed model substantially improves operational flexibility but results in a challenging nonlinear fractional program. Based upon this model, a data-driven RAJIT scheme is developed for the real-time rolling optimization of AHMGs. Unlike conventional one-size-fits-all schemes using one optimization method throughout, the data-driven RAJIT intelligently switches between cost-effective deterministic optimization and risk-averse online-learning distributionally robust optimization depending on actual risk profiles, thus capitalizing on the respective strengths of these two optimization methods. To facilitate the solution of the resulting nonlinear program, we develop an equivalent-reformulation-based solution methodology by leveraging a constraint-tightening technique. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme guarantees safety and yields an overall cost reduction up to 14.6% compared with several state-of-the-art methods. © 2025 IEEE.

FAAD:an unsupervised fast and accurate anomaly detection method for a multi-dimensional sequence over data stream

Recently, sequence anomaly detection has been widely used in many fields. Sequence data in these fields are usually multi-dimensional over the data stream. It is a challenge to design an anomaly detection method for a multi-dimensional sequence over the data stream to satisfy the requirements of accuracy and high speed. It is because:(1) Redundant dimensions in sequence data and large state space lead to a poor ability for sequence modeling;(2) Anomaly detection cannot adapt to the high-speed nature of the data stream, especially when concept drift occurs, and it will reduce the detection rate. On one hand, most existing methods of sequence anomaly detection focus on the single-dimension sequence. On the other hand, some studies concerning multi-dimensional sequence concentrate mainly on the static database rather than the data stream. To improve the performance of anomaly detection for a multi-dimensional sequence over the data stream, we propose a novel unsupervised fast and accurate anomaly detection(FAAD) method which includes three algorithms. First, a method called "information calculation and minimum spanning tree cluster" is adopted to reduce redundant dimensions. Second, to speed up model construction and ensure the detection rate for the sequence over the data stream, we propose a method called"random sampling and subsequence partitioning based on the index probabilistic suffix tree." Last, the method called "anomaly buffer based on model dynamic adjustment" dramatically reduces the effects of concept drift in the data stream. FAAD is implemented on the streaming platform Storm to detect multi-dimensional log audit *** with the existing anomaly detection methods, FAAD has a good performance in detection rate and speed without being affected by concept drift.

Bidirectional Influence and Interaction for Multiagent Reinforcement Learning

In recent years, multiagent reinforcement learning (MARL) has demonstrated considerable potential across diverse applications. However, in reinforcement learning environments characterized by sparse rewards, the scarcity of reward signals may give rise to reward conflicts among agents. In these scenarios, each agent tends to compete to obtain limited rewards, deviating from collaborative efforts aimed at achieving collective team objectives. This not only amplifies the learning challenge but also imposes constraints on the overall learning performance of agents, ultimately compromising the attainment of team goals. To mitigate the conflicting competition for rewards among agents in MARL, we introduce the bidirectional influence and interaction (BDII) MARL framework. This innovative approach draws inspiration from the collaborative ethos observed in human social cooperation, specifically the concept of "sharing joys and sorrows." The fundamental concept behind BDII is to empower agents to share their individual rewards with collaborators, fostering a cooperative rather than competitive behavioral paradigm. This strategic shift aims to resolve the pervasive issue of reward conflicts among agents operating in sparse-reward environments. BDII incorporates two key factors—namely, the Gaussian kernel distance between agents (physical distance) and policy diversity among agents (logical distance). The two factor collectively contribute to the dynamic adjustment of reward allocation coefficients, culminating in the formation of reward distribution weights. The incorporation of these weights facilitates the equitable sharing of agents’ contributions to rewards, promoting a cooperative learning environment. Through extensive experimental evaluations, we substantiate the efficacy of BDII in addressing the challenge of reward conflicts in MARL. Exploiting a depth context model in visual tracking with correlation filter

Recently correlation filter based trackers have attracted considerable attention for their high computational efficiency. However, they cannot handle occlusion and scale variation well enough. This paper aims at preventing the tracker from failure in these two situations by integrating the depth information into a correlation filter based tracker. By using RGB-D data, we construct a depth context model to reveal the spatial correlation between the target and its surrounding regions. Furthermore, we adopt a region growing method to make our tracker robust to occlusion and scale variation. Additional optimizations such as a model updating scheme are applied to improve the performance for longer video sequences. Both qualitative and quantitative evaluations on challenging benchmark image sequences demonstrate that the proposed tracker performs favourably against state-of-the-art algorithms.
