Nanodiamond reinforced self-healing and transparent poly(urethane-urea)protective coating for scratch resistance

With increasing demand for scratch-resistant flexible electro-nics,the development of transparent coatings with good scratch resistance and self-healing properties has emerged as a key research *** this study,a high-strength self-healing poly(urethane-urea)(PUU)-based nanocomposite coating was prepared by introducing functionalized nanodiamond(ND)into a PUU matrix via solution *** PUU matrix had hard-segment repeating units and was constructed using iso-phorone diamine and isophorone *** ND particles were modifed using a silane coupling agent,3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane,to obtain well-dispersed KH-ND ***-ND promoted microphase separation in the PU matrix,inducing the formation of dense and homogeneous hard domains that dissipated stress,prevented further crack devel-opment,and improved the mechanical properties and scratch resistance of the *** addition,the coating exhibited excellent self-healing ***-transform infrared spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy,and atomic force microscopy were used to characterize the self-healing and hardening mechanisms of the *** environmentally friendly PUU/KH-ND coating is easy to prepare and has broad application prospects in transparent and anti-scratch coatings for flexible electronics,automobiles,and home appliances.

Efficient fabrication of light Cf/SiHfBOC composites with excellent thermal shock resistance and ultra-high-temperature ablation up to 1800℃

In this paper,a high-yield Hf-modified SiHfBOC ceramic precursor was developed,and a high-pressure assisted impregnation pyrolysis method was proposed to achieve the preparation of 3D PyC–Cf/SiHfBOC *** high-pressure assisted impregnation method significantly improves impregnation filling effect of the precursor in and between fiber bundles compared to dozens of traditional impregnation *** undergoing just 9 precursor infiltration pyrolysis(PIP)cycles,the composites achieved relative density of approximately 90%and density of 1.64 g/cm^(3).The critical temperature difference of the 3D PyC–Cf/SiHfBOC composites after the shock of room temperature(RT)–1000℃is as high as 650℃,which is twice that of traditional ceramic materials,showing good thermal shock *** the effect of Hf modification,a dense HfO_(2)–SiO_(2)oxide layer(thickness of 93μm)was formed in situ on the surface of the 3D PyC–Cf/SiHfBOC composites,effectively preventing further erosion of the composite matrix by high-temperature oxidation *** in the ultra-high-temperature oxygen-containing environment at 1800℃,it still exhibits an excellent non-ablative result(with a linear ablation rate of 0.83×10^(−4)mm/s).This work not only enriches the basic research on lightweight ultra-high-temperature ceramic composites converted from Hf ceramic precursors,but also provides strong technical support for their applications in ultra-high-temperature non-ablative thermal protection materials for high-speed aircraft.

The emergence of additive manufacturing(AM)enables ceramics to be fabricated with customized geometry,and polymer-derived ceramics(PDCs)has attracted growing attention owing to their irreplaceable *** combination of 3D printing and PDCs endows the resultant ceramics with both precision and ***,AM of ceramics from preceramic polymers is still challenging,and insufficient investigation of functionality also limits the versatility of precursor and its derived ***,we propose a novel paradigm for 3D printing dense silicon carbonitride ceramic and study its electrical semiconducting *** formulated photosensitive precursor inks could achieve self-polymerization and cross-linking under the radiation of UV light(405 nm).The green body with intricate structures is fabricated by digital light processing(DLP).Lightweight(1.79-2.08 g cm^(-3))and low porosity(<5%)amorphous ceramics were obtained after thermal *** of cross-linking,decomposition,and ceramization are monitored and ***,the semi-conducting behaviors of resultant ceramics are identified where the conductivity(10^(-5)-10^(-1)S m^(-1))has a monotonic correspondence with the testing temperatures(25-1000℃).The numerical relationship is fitted by exponential functions,and its conducting mechanism could be interpreted by the band tail hopping(BTH)*** work could provide alternative solutions for the fabrication of PDCs and potentials for sensing applications.

High mass-loading and binder-free flexible vanadium-based oxide cathode for zinc-ion battery via a bridge of MXene

Flexible zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs)are promising power sources for portable devices due to their high safety and low production ***,the low mass-loading and limited areal capacity of cathode materials are the major problems blocking the practicability of ***,a high mass-loading and binder-free flexible vanadium oxide(MCV@CC)cathode with a large areal capacity was fabricated via the bridge effect of *** functional MXene bridge induces the growth of the vanadium oxide active layer on the carbon cloth(CC)flexible *** binder-free cathode can reduce the electrochemically inactive weight of the whole electrode,which enhances the energy density of ***,the MCV@CC cathode(mass-loading of∼7 mg cm^(−2))delivers a desirable areal capacity(2.36 mAh cm^(−2))and good cycling stability(capacity retention of 86.1%after 1200 cycles at 10 mA cm^(−2)).Moreover,several ex-situ characterization results indicate that the reaction mechanism upon battery cycling is based on the reversible Zn^(2+)/H^(+)(de)intercalation in the vanadium oxide ***,the assembled quasi-solid-state MCV@CC//Zn flexible battery exhibits decent performance at different bending *** a bridge effect strategy sheds light on the construction of high mass-loading flexible electrodes for ZIBs applications.

An Approach to Optimize the Mechanical Properties of Cylindrical Negative Stiffness Structures

Negative stiffness (NS) structure, as a type of mechanical metamaterial, possess numerous excellent properties and has broad potential applications in areas such as impact energy absorption, vibration damping, and noise reduction. However, their energy absorption efficiency is not high. Typically, incorporating fillers into honeycomb structures proves to be an effective strategy for augmenting the mechanical properties of honeycomb materials. In this study, we propose a model for a filled cylindrical NS structure (CNS), where the fillers are treated as springs to facilitate finite element simulation. Subsequently, we further investigate the fundamental mechanical properties and energy dissipation capacity of unfilled CNS structures as well as filled CNS structures employing distinct types of fillers, including linear elastic and viscoelastic fillers. The results indicate that linear elastic fillers do not have a positive impact on improving the energy dissipation capacity of CNS structures but can be used to adjust the response curve. When viscoelastic fillers are filled inside the CNS structure, they can effectively enhance the strength and energy dissipation capacity of the CNS structure. Moreover, the approach presented in this investigation holds significant reference value for the design of various mechanical metamaterials based on NS structures. © 2025 Ernst & Sohn GmbH.

Various thermal protection materials exhibit obviously different and complicated thermal response,oxidation and ablation behavior,which are very important for the appropriate design and ***,the relative researches are very few *** this work,the thermal response,oxidation and ablation behavior of representative thermal protection materials including ultra-high temperature ceramics,C/SiC,C/C, graphite and graphite-ceramic were investigated systematically in strong heat flux,high enthalpy and low-pressure *** response of these materials was analyzed based on experimental results and thermal energy balance that accounts for all of the heat transfer processes transporting energy into and out of the *** factors were playing important roles in the thermal response including thermal conductivity,volumetric heat capacity,catalytic efficiency,emissivity and oxidation characteristics of the *** importance of each factor not only depends on the material characteristics such as material composition and phase content but also environment parameters including heat flux,enthalpy,pressure and testing *** comparisons and relationships of oxidation and ablation behaviors for these materials under extreme environments were also illustrated in ***,thermal response and ablation behaviors of pre-oxidized material or repeated tests were also performed to evaluate the effect of pre-treatment on the performance and reusability of thermal protection *** work offers guiding significance for the appropriate design and selection of thermal protection materials.

Mn-N-P doped carbon spheres as an efficient oxygen reduction catalyst for high performance Zn-Air batteries
