In this paper, we consider the near-lossless compression of two distinct but independent binary random sources U and V, both of which are asymmetrical independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) sources. In particular, V is assumed to be sparser than U. We show that, to efficiently compress U and V, explicit source coding (compression) for V (the sparser one) is not required. The basic idea is to encode U with an error-correction code and then superimpose V on the codeword. Hence, only one encoder-decoder pair (EDP) suffices to compress two sources. Theoretical analysis shows that the proposed coding scheme is entropy-approaching in terms of bit-error rate (BER) of both sources, and numerical results verify our analysis. Furthermore, we analyze the complexity of compression using the block Markov superposition transmission-repetition (BMST-R) codes to discuss the advantage of the proposed scheme. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme compresses the two sources simultaneously in a more compact way but causes no performance degradation. © 2024 IEEE.

Owing to its ability to mitigate the double-fading effect by amplifying the reflected signal, the active intelligent reflecting surface(IRS) has garnered significant attention. In this paper, an amplify-and-forward(AF) relay network assisted by a hybrid IRS consisting of both passive and active units is developed. A signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) maximization problem is formulated, where the AF relay beamforming matrix and the hybrid IRS reflecting coefficient matrices for two-time slots need to be optimized. To address the SNR maximization problem, this paper proposes both a high-performance(HP) method and a low-complexity(LC) method. The HP method is based on the semidefinite relaxation and fractional programming(SDR-FP)algorithm, with rank-1 solutions obtained through Gaussian randomization. For the LC method, the amplification coefficient of each active IRS element is assumed to be equal. The SNR maximization problem is then addressed using the whitening filter,generalized power iteration, and generalized Rayleigh-Ritz(WF-GPI-GRR) approach. Simulation results show that compared with the benchmarks, such as the passive IRS-aided AF relay network, the proposed HP-SDR-FP and WF-GPI-GRR methods achieve significant rate improvements. In particular, the HP-SDR-FP and WF-GPI-GRR methods yield more than a 135.0%rate gain when the transmit power Ps of the source is 10 dBm. Furthermore, the proposed HP-SDR-FP method outperforms the WF-GPI-GRR method in terms of rate performance.

To accurately extract Brillouin frequency shift of BOTDA with large sweeping step sizes, a novel structure of GAFCNN is proposed, combining time series coding with convolutional neural networks. The experimental data validation results demonstrate that the GAFCNN is capable of obtaining more accurate results under large sweep steps and low signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) than other current methods. © 2025 SPIE.

Blockchain-Empowered Dynamic Spectrum Management for Space-Air-Ground Integrated Network

Space-air-ground integrated network is capable of providing seamless and ubiquitous services to cater for the increasing wireless communication demands of emerging applications. However, how to efficiently manage the heterogeneous resources and protect the privacy of connected devices is a very challenging issue, especially under the highly dynamic network topology and multiple trustless network operators. In this paper, we investigate blockchain-empowered dynamic spectrum management by reaping the advantages of blockchain and software defined network(SDN), where operators are incentive to share their resources in a common resourced pool. We first propose a blockchain enabled spectrum management framework for space-air-ground integrated network, with inter-slice spectrum sharing and intra-slice spectrum allocation. Specifically, the inter-slice spectrum sharing is realized through a consortium blockchain formed by the upper-tier SDN controllers, and then a graph coloring based channel assignment algorithm is proposed to manage the intra-slice spectrum assignment. A bilateral confirmation protocol and a consensus mechanism are also proposed for the consortium blockchain. The simulation results prove that our proposed consensus algorithm takes less time than practical Byzantine fault tolerance algorithm to reach a consensus, and the proposed channel assignment algorithm significantly improves the spectrum utilization and outperforms the baseline algorithm in both simulation and real-world scenarios.

VMMAO-YOLO:an ultra-lightweight and scale-aware detector for real-time defect detection of avionics thermistor wire solder joints

The quality of the exposed avionics solder joints has a significant impact on the stable operation of the inorbit ***,the previously reported inspection methods for multi-scale solder joint defects generally suffer low accuracy and slow detection ***,a novel real-time detector VMMAO-YOLO is demonstrated based on variable multi-scale concurrency and multi-depth aggregation network(VMMANet)backbone and“one-stop”global information gather-distribute(OS-GD)*** with infrared thermography technology,it can achieve fast and high-precision detection of both internal and external solder joint ***,VMMANet is designed for efficient multi-scale feature extraction,which mainly comprises variable multi-scale feature concurrency(VMC)and multi-depth feature aggregation-alignment(MAA)*** can extract multi-scale features via multiple fix-sized and deformable convolutions,while MAA can aggregate and align multi-depth features on the same order for feature *** allows the low-level features with more spatial details to be transmitted in depth-wise,enabling the deeper network to selectively utilize the preceding inference *** VMMANet replaces inefficient highdensity deep convolution by increasing the width of intermediate feature levels,leading to a salient decline in *** OS-GD is developed for efficacious feature extraction,aggregation and distribution,further enhancing the global information gather and deployment capability of the *** a self-made solder joint image data set,the VMMAOYOLO achieves a mean average precision mAP@0.5 of 91.6%,surpassing all the mainstream YOLO-series ***,the VMMAO-YOLO has a body size of merely 19.3 MB and a detection speed up to 119 frame per second,far superior to the prevalent YOLO-series detectors.

Layer-controlled 2D Sn_(4)P_(3) via space-confined topochemical transformation for enhanced lithium cycling performance

Topochemical transformation has emerged as a promising method for fabricating two-dimensional (2D) materials with precise control over their composition and morphology. However, the large-scale synthesis of ultrathin 2D materials with controllable thickness remains a tremendous challenge. Herein, we adopt an efficient topochemical synthesis strategy, employing a confined reaction space to fabricate ultrathin 2D Sn_(4)P_(3) nanosheets in large-scale. By carefully adjusting the rolling number during the processing of Sn/Al foils, we have successfully fabricated Sn_(4)P_(3) nanosheets with varied layer thicknesses, achieving a remarkable minimum thickness of two layers (~ 2.2 nm). Remarkably, the bilayer Sn_(4)P_(3) nanosheets display an exceptional initial capacity of 1088 mAh·g^(−1), nearing the theoretical value of 1230 mAh·g^(−1). Furthermore, we reveal their high-rate property as well as outstanding cyclic stability, maintaining capacity without fading more than 3000 cycles. By precisely controlling the layer thickness and ensuring nanoscale uniformity, we enhance the lithium cycling performance of Sn_(4)P_(3), marking a significant advancement in developing high-performance energy storage systems.

Deep learning-based autonomous driving systems have been extensively researched due to their superior performance compared to traditional methods. Specifically, end-To-end deep learning systems have been developed, which directly output control signals for vehicles using various sensor inputs. However, deep learning techniques are vulnerable to security issues, generating adversarial examples that can attack the output of the relevant model. This paper proposes an adversarial example generation method that applies a patch to pedestrians' clothing, which can generate dangerous behaviors when the pedestrian appears within the camera lens, thereby attacking the end-To-end autonomous driving system. The proposed method is validated using the CARLA simulator, and the results demonstrate successful attacks in various weather and lighting conditions, exposing the security vulnerabilities of this type of system. This study highlights the need for further research to address these vulnerabilities and ensure the safety of autonomous driving systems. © 2023 IEEE.

Metal-organic frameworks（MOFs）, that have emerged as promising electrocatalysts in oxygen evolution reaction（OER）,usually undergo structural reconstruction to form metal hydroxides as active sites. However, it remains a great challenge to design and synthesize ideal MOF-based pre-catalysts for properly cognizing and utilizing the reconstruction process toward efficient OER activity. Herein, the well-defined MOF-808 is post-modified by 2-hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid（HPAA） to form a micro-adsorber that enables to capture of metal ions effectively. Fe3+and Ni2+ions are synergistically anchored into the microadsorber, developing a Fe/Ni-containing pre-catalyst that can be dynamically electrooxidized to be an active and stable dual-site electrocatalyst denoted by R-MOF-HPAA@Fe Ni with abundant metal sites. As a result, R-MOF-HPAA@Fe Ni exhibits an excellent OER performance with a low overpotential of 272 m V and Tafel slope of 35.9 m V dec-1, as well as long-term stability over 300 h at 10 m A cm-2. Experiments and theoretical calculations suggest the resulting catalyst mainly follows a lattice oxygen mechanism（LOM） of dual-metal-site mechanism（DMSM）. Owing to the chelating role of HPAA, the post-synthesized MOFHPAA behaves as a trap to uniformly and firmly adhere Fe3+and Ni2+ions, leading to a functionalized MOF-based pre-catalyst which can be structurally evolved into atomic level-distributed OER electrocatalysts.
