Causes of Winter Persistent Extreme Cold Events in Northeastern China

Persistent(5-day or longer)extreme cold events(ECEs)over northeastern China during the boreal winter of 1979–2020 are investigated using daily minimum temperature(Tmin)from the China Meteorological Data *** extreme cooling area and intensity indices associated with the ECEs exhibit a dominant 10–40-day periodicity,indicating a close link with atmospheric intraseasonal oscillations(ISOs).The ECEs are categorized into W-and *** the former,the low-frequency cooling associated with the ISO first penetrates into the western boundary of the northeastern China domain and later occupies the entire domain at its peak *** upper-tropospheric circulation associated with this type is characterized by a northwest–southeast-oriented Rossby wave train,expanding from the Ural Mountains to the western Pacific *** the latter,the cooling invades the northern boundary first and then penetrates into the entire *** upper tropospheric precursory signal associated with this type is a zonally oriented negative geopotential height anomaly,which slowly moves southward.A downward-propagating signal is observed in the stratospheric potential vorticity field prior to the peak cooling,implying a possible stratospheric *** addition to the W-and N-types,ECEs can also occur in a localized region near either at the northern or southern boundary of the domain.

Learning from demonstration(LfD) allows for the effective transfer of human manipulation skills to a robot by building a model that represents these skills based on a limited number of demonstrated ***,a skilllearning model that can comprehensively satisfy multiple requirements,such as computational complexity,modeling accuracy,trajectory smoothness,and robustness,is still ***,this work aims to provide such a model by employing fuzzy ***,we introduce an LfD model named Takagi-Sugeno-Kang fuzzy system-based movement primitives(TSKFMPs),which exploits the advantages of the fuzzy theory for effective robotic imitation learning of human *** work formulates the TSK fuzzy system and gradient descent(GD) as imitation learning models,leveraging recent advancements in GD-based optimization for fuzzy *** study takes a two-step strategy.(ⅰ) The input-output relationships of the model are established using TSK fuzzy systems based on demonstration *** this way,the skill is encoded by the model parameter in the latent space.(ⅱ) GD is used to optimize the model parameter to increase the modeling accuracy and trajectory *** further explain how learned trajectories are adapted to new task scenarios through local *** conduct multiple tests using an open dataset to validate our method,and the results demonstrate performance comparable with those of other ***,we implement it in a real-world case study.

Ultra-low power MoS2 optoelectronic synapse with wavelength sensitivity for color target recognition

Optoelectronic synapses that integrate visual perception and pre-processing hold significant potential for neuromorphic vision systems（NVSs）. However, due to a lack of wavelength sensitivity, existing NVS mainly focuses on gray-scale image processing, making it challenging to recognize color images. Additionally, the high power consumption of optoelectronic synapses, compared to the 10 fJ energy consumption of biological synapses, limits their broader application. To address these challenges, an energy-efficient NVS capable of color target recognition in a noisy environment was developed,utilizing a MoS2optoelectronic synapse with wavelength sensitivity. Benefiting from the distinct photon capture capabilities of 450, 535, and 650 nm light, the optoelectronic synapse exhibits wavelength-dependent synaptic plasticity, including excitatory postsynaptic current（EPSC）, paired-pulse facilitation（PPF）, and long-term plasticity（LTP）. These properties can effectively mimic the visual memory and color discrimination functions of the human vision system. Results demonstrate that the NVS, based on MoS2optoelectronic synapses, can eliminate the color noise at the sensor level, increasing color image recognition accuracy from 50% to 90%. Importantly, the optoelectronic synapse operates at a low voltage spike of0.0005 V, consuming only 0.075 fJ per spike, surpassing the energy efficiency of both existing optoelectronic and biological synapses. This ultra-low power, color-sensitive device eliminates the need for color filters and offers great promise for future deployment in filter-free NVS.

Recently,the Third Pole(TP)region has experienced rapid environmental *** data are essential for hydrometeorological and ecological applications but still have large uncertainties on the TP owing to the heterogeneous land surface,complex terrain,and sparse weather *** this study,a long-term(1979–2020)high-resolution(1/30°)meteorological forcing dataset for the TP(TPMFD)was developed,as a sister to the widely used China Meteorological Forcing Dataset(CMFD).The TPMFD comprises seven components necessary for driving land surface *** have previously contributed precipitation and downward shortwave radiation data for the TPMFD,and this study presents the development of five other components and focuses on validations for all ***,2-meter air temperature,2-meter specific humidity,10-meter wind speed,and surface air pressure were generated by combining the fifth-generation atmospheric reanalysis for European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts(ERA5),a short-term high-resolution atmospheric simulation,and in situ observations,and the downward longwave radiation was calculated using semi-physical *** cross-validation and independent-validation demonstrated that most variables in the developed dataset outperformed those in widely used reanalysis datasets,including ERA5,ERA5-Land,and the Global Land Data Assimilation system(GLDAS).This dataset is expected to be beneficial for climate analyses and modeling applications of land-surface processes on the TP.

A U-Shaped Network-Based Grid Tagging Model for Chinese Named Entity Recognition

Chinese named entity recognition(CNER)has received widespread attention as an important task of Chinese information *** previous research has focused on individually studying flat CNER,overlapped CNER,or discontinuous ***,a unified CNER is often needed in real-world *** studies have shown that grid tagging-based methods based on character-pair relationship classification hold great potential for achieving unified ***,how to enrich Chinese character-pair grid representations and capture deeper dependencies between character pairs to improve entity recognition performance remains an unresolved *** this study,we enhance the character-pair grid representation by incorporating both local and global ***,we introduce a new approach by considering the character-pair grid representation matrix as a specialized image,converting the classification of character-pair relationships into a pixel-level semantic segmentation *** devise a U-shaped network to extract multi-scale and deeper semantic information from the grid image,allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of associative features between character *** approach leads to improved accuracy in predicting their relationships,ultimately enhancing entity recognition *** conducted experiments on two public CNER datasets in the biomedical domain,namely CMeEE-V2 and *** results demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach,which achieves F1-score improvements of 7.29 percentage points and 1.64 percentage points compared to the current state-of-the-art(SOTA)models,respectively.

Sparse convolutional model with semantic expression for waste electrical appliances recognition

Deep neural networks play an important role in the recognition of waste electrical appliances. However, deep neural network components still lack reliability in decision-making features. To address this problem, a sparse convolutional model with semantic expression(SCMSE) is proposed. First, a low-rank sparse semantic expression component, combining the benefits of residual networks and sparse representation, is adapted to enhance sparse feature extraction and semantic expression. Second, a reliable network architecture is obtained by iterating the optimal sparse solution, enhancing semantic expression. Finally, the results of visualization experiments on the waste electrical appliances dataset demonstrate that the proposed SCMSE can obtain excellent semantic performance.

An efficient Quasi-Affine Transformation Evolutionary algorithm with fixed dimension updating and its application in UAV 3D path planning

Quasi-Affine Transformation Evolutionary (QUATRE) algorithm is a kind of swarm-based collaborative optimization algorithm that solves the problem of a position deviation in a DE search by using the co-evolution matrix M instead of the cross-control parameter CR in the differential evolution algorithm (DE). However, QUATRE shares some of the same weaknesses as DE, such as premature convergence and search stagnation. Inspired by the artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC), we propose a new QUATRE algorithm to improve these problems that ranks all the individuals and evolves only the poorer half of the population. In an evolving population, individuals of different levels intersect with dimensions of different sizes to improve search efficiency and accuracy. In addition, we establish a better selection framework for the parent generation individuals and select more excellent parent individuals to complete the evolution for the individuals trapped in search stagnation. To verify the performance of the new QUATRE algorithm, we divide the comparison algorithm into three groups, including ABC variant group, DE variant group, and QUATRE variant group, and the CEC2014 test suite is used for the comparison. The experimental results show the new QUATRE algorithm performance is competitive. We also successfully apply the new QUATRE algorithm on the 3D path planning of UAV, and compared with the other famous algorithm performance it is still outstanding, which verifies the algorithm's practicability. © 2024 - IOS Press. The issue of resource allocation is the key to design the Anti-Air Defense Missile system As this is an NP-hard problem, allocating only end-point firepower cannot thoroughly address the issue. To better cater to real combat environments, this article uses a kill chain-based system resource allocation model that includes task completion rate, firepower cost, and completion time by utilizing discrete resources. To address the resource allocation problem, we optimized the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm III (NSGA-III) by incorporating k-means clustering and the average clustering distance for congestion resolution. The results demonstrate that this method is effective in solving complex resource allocation problems, providing strong support for the command and decision-making of actual defense forces. © 2023 IEEE.

Infrared Dim Small Target Detection Algorithm Based on Adaptive Attention Transformer Network

This paper presents a novel algorithm for detecting infrared dim small targets in complex backgrounds by integrating both global and local feature information. The proposed method employs an adaptive attention transformer network which addresses challenges associated with computational complexity and information redundancy in traditional self-attention mechanisms. A global context aggregation module is designed to address the loss of small target features in high-level feature maps. This module compensates for spatial distribution information during the multi-scale feature fusion process, ensuring the preservation of target features. Comparison experiments were conducted on two datasets, NUAA-SIRST and IRSTD-1k. The proposed algorithm achieved 0.784 for mIoU and 0.878 for F-measure on NUAA-SIRST, 0.632 for mIoU and 0.807 for F-measure on IRST-1k, all of which are the highest values. The proposed algorithm shows a significant improvement over other existing detection algorithms, demonstrating its capability to accurately extract both local and global features of targets with high recall rates and low false alarm rates across various scenarios.
