Establishment of compound database of emerging antioxidants and high-resolution mass spectrometry screening in lake sediment from Taihu Lake Basin, China

Antioxidants are ubiquitous in various environmental samples, leading to increasing concern regarding their potential risk to environments or humans. However, there is dearth of information regarding the environmental fate of antioxidants and unknown/unexpected antioxidants in the environment. Here, we established a compound database (CDB) containing 320 current-used antioxidants by collecting the chemicals from EPA’s functional use database and published documents. Physical–chemical characteristics of these antioxidants were estimated, and 19 ones were considered as persistent and bioaccumulative (P&B) substances. This CDB was further coupled with high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) technique, which was employed for suspect screening of antioxidants in extracts of sediments (n = 88) collected from Taihu Lake basin. We screened 119 HRMS features that can match 135 chemical formulas in the CDB, and 20 out of them exhibited the detection frequencies ≥ 90%. The total concentrations of suspect antioxidants in sediments ranged from 6.41 to 830 ng/g dw. Statistical analysis demonstrated that concentrations of suspect antioxidants in Taihu Lake were statistically significantly lower than those in Shihu and Jiulihu Lake, but greater than those from other small lakes. Collectively, this study provided a CDB that could be helpful for further monitoring studies of antioxidant in the environments, and also provided the first evidence regarding the ubiquity of antioxidants in aquatic environment of Taihu Lake basin. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

In this study,a novel Bi_(2)S_(3)/BiOI Z-scheme photocatalyst with 3D porous hierarchical network-like heterostructure(BSBI NHs)and rich oxygen vacancies(OVs)was fabricated by a facile ion exchange method followed by the in-situ growth process.A possible formation mechanism of BSBI NHs was studied,showing the self-assembled process of in-situ interwoven growth of 1D Bi_(2)S_(3) nanorods(NRs)on the surface of 2D BiOI disk-like nanoplates(NPs),which followed the Ostwald ripening and epitaxial *** modification of BiOI NPs by Bi_(2)S_(3) NRs brought about the formation of Z-scheme heterojunction and massive OVs,which improved the visible-light response property and promoted the separation of photoexcited charge carriers of BSBI *** NHs exhibited a significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity compared with Bi_(2)S_(3) and BiOI,and BSBI-1 can remove almost all bacteria and Rhodamine B(RhB)after 60 min visible light *** addition,the photocatalytic mechanism was studied and speculated based on the tests of active species capture,electron spin resonance(ESR),and density functional theory(DFT)simulation calculation,proving the primary roles of·OH,·O_(2)^(-)and h^(+)during the photocatalytic *** work provides new insights into the design and exploitation of novel heterojunctions with highly efficient photocatalytic performances for environmental remediation applications.

Underwater reverberation environments that satisfy the conditions of uniformity and isotropy of the diffuse field can be used to measure the acoustic characteristics of underwater *** study combines two practical indicators—the standard deviation of the absolute sound pressure field(to indicate uniformity)and the analysis of the wavenumber spectrum in the spherical harmonics domain(to indicate isotropy)—for an accurate evaluation of the diffusion of the sound field in a reverberation tank.A method is proposed that can improve the narrow-band diffusion of the sound field by employing a randomly fluctuating *** acoustic experiment was performed in a reverberation water tank(1.2 m×1 m×0.8 m),where a randomly fluctuating surface was generated by making *** experimental results show that as the wave motion contributes effectively to the random reflection of sound rays in all directions,the uniformity and isotropy are improved significantly when the surface is fluctuating *** work helps to ensure accurate measurements of the characteristics of underwater targets in reverberation tanks.

Herein,the successful preparation of a singleatom catalyst V-N-C using vanadium-doped zeolitic imidazolate framework(ZIF)-8 as a precursor is *** experimental results showed that the V-N-C had a good promoting effect on the hydrogen storage performance of MgH_(2),and the optimal addition amount of V-N-C was 10wt%.The hydrogenation and dehydrogenation apparent activation energies of 10 wt%V-N-C-catalyzed MgH_(2)were reduced by 44.9 and 53.5 kJ·mol^(-1),respectively,compared to those of additive-free MgH_(2).The 10 wt%V-N-C-catalyzed MgH_(2)could reabsorb 5.92 wt%of hydrogen in 50 min at 150℃,with a capacity retention rate of 99.1%after 30 cycles of hydrogen absorption and *** analysis showed that V-N-C was partially transformed into VN and metallic V when it was milled with MgH_(2);the in-situ-formed VN and metallic V played an important role in improving the hydrogen storage performance of MgH_(2).This approach provides a potential solution for obtaining high-performance Mg-based hydrogen storage materials through synergistic interactions between V,N and C.

Asynchronous motors play a key role in industrial equipment. To cope with the challenge of incomplete fault information due to a single signal, and the problem of missing target domain labels. this paper proposes a method that combines multi-source information fusion with an improved domain adaptation approach. First, an autoencoder is used to extract features from the collected vibration, current and temperature signals. The extracted features are concatenated and fused at the channel level. Then, a deep feature extraction network is designed by combining efficient channel attention and deep residual network, which can accurately and efficiently extract deep features from multi-source information. Finally, an improved domain adaptation mechanism is proposed, which significantly enhances the learning of discriminative features between two different domains. In addition, by incorporating the I-Softmax loss, the constructed Deep Discriminative Residual Adaptive Network exhibits stronger classification capabilities. The superiority and feasibility of the proposed method is verified by comparing several methods under the sample of asynchronous motor without labeling the target domain. © 2024 IEEE.

Laser-fabricated wood-based microfluidic chip integrating dual detection for lead ion detection

This study utilized laser processing to prepare a wood-based microfluidic chip incorporating two detection methods (microwave detection and colorimetric spectroscopy detection) for detecting lead ions in solutions. By optimizing CO2 and femtosecond laser processing parameters and ultraviolet bonding processes, preparation of the chip was achieved. Femtosecond laser processing created 5.285 µm capacitive gaps in resistor-inductor-capacitor (RLC) resonant circuits. RLC circuits and a sodium rhodizonate colorimetric method were used to detect lead ions in solutions. Experimental results showed that the dual-mode system exhibited detection limits of 1 µg/L (colorimetry, linear response at 620 nm, R2 = 0.975) and 10 µg/L (microwave sensing via the peak frequency changes between 2.5 and 3.2 GHz, with a sensitivity of 0.36 dB/10 µg/L). This study accomplished the precision manufacturing of a wood-based microfluidic chip through laser processing and realized the integration of microwave and spectroscopic detection technologies. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group.

Drogue detection is widely used in autonomous aerial refueling and drogue control, with high accuracy and speed requirements. However, since the image of the drogue is usually an ellipse with different axis ratios, the Intersection over Union (loU) based on rectangular bounding boxes can hardly accurately measure the similarity between the predicted region and the ground truth. To solve the above issue, we propose a novel particle-ellipse loU (PEloU) loss for drogue detection in this work. By setting particles on the image and calculating the proportion occupied by the overlapping part, an estimation of true IoU for two elliptical regions can be obtained. Furthermore, an improved network based on YOLOv8 was designed, and the PEloU loss was integrated into the model. Finally, a drogue dataset was created containing real images, which was used to perform experiments. The extensive experiments demonstrate that the method proposed in this paper not only outperforms the baseline but also operates efficiently in real-time on edge devices. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2024.

Inertia Transmission Control of Full-Power Converter Variable-Speed Pumped Storage system for Grid Frequency Support

Full-power converter variable-speed pumped storage (FPC-VSPS) is a promising technique for flexible power regulation in small-scale distributed hydroelectric power plants. However, conventional vector control limits the synchronous motor of the FPC-VSPS from providing inertia support to the power grid. To overcome this limitation, this paper introduces an inertia transmission control for FPC-VSPS based on the concept of DC voltage synchronization. Firstly, the control incorporates the DC capacitor power equation into the GSC control. To enable inertia transmission from the FPC-VSPS synchronous machine, the DC capacitor dynamics are fed into both the speed and torque control of the MSC. Secondly, a torsion spring-rigid body equivalent model is introduced based on the inertia transmission process, analyzing the effects of physical parameters, control coefficients, and transmission delays on the inertia transmission performance. Theoretical analysis and simulation results reveal that the inherent physical differences and transmission delay have a negative impact on the effectiveness of the inertia transmission. Consequently, a DC capacitor design method based on inertia matching is proposed, accounting for the constraints of physical inertia matching, system stability, and operational security. Finally, simulations and experiments prove the necessity of inertia matching and verify the effectiveness of the proposed control to cope with frequency fluctuations in both pumping and generating modes. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

Heterogeneous UAV Resource Scheduling for Dynamic Time Sensitive Target Detection and Interference

In complex electromagnetic environments, targets that need to be interfered with often possess high levels of concealment and anti-interference capabilities. Additionally, due to the dynamic characteristics of these targets, interference tasks must be conducted within strict time constraints to ensure interference effect. In this paper, we adopt a reconnaissance-first approach for concealed targets. After detecting the accurate location of the target, we deploy Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to interfere with the targets. First, we established a UAV swarm task scheduling optimization model after considering constraints such as target threat range, priority of reconnaissance and interference tasks, interference task time, and UAV energy consumption. Meanwhile, we model the anti-interference capability of the target as a threat range. Second, we propose a non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm based on distance in the solution space and a dynamic parent selection strategy (DPSNSGA-II) to solve UAV Resource Scheduling optimization problem. The diversity of the population is increased and the situation of falling into local optima is reduced by improving the parent individual selection strategy, mutation strategy, and elite solution retention mechanism. Finally, we construct two data sets of varying sizes to evaluate the quality of solution sets and the convergence performance of the proposed algorithm. The simulation results indicate that the proposed DPSNSGA-II algorithm has better result for population diversity and convergence compared to state-of-the-art algorithms. © 2014 IEEE.
