Dear editor,The GIFT cryptosystem was proposed by Banik et al. [1]in CHES 2017. It can be widely applied to protect RFID tags and other low-resource devices. It has an SPN structure with a fixed 128-bit key size and two flexible variants of 64-bit and 128-bit block sizes. In simulations, GIFT achieves good performance and surpasses both SIMON and SKINNY [1]. In 2013, Fuhr et al. Luminescent materials with multi-emission features are difficult to be replicated, which are highly desirable for advanced anti-counterfeiting. Here, we report the pioneering synthesis of Mn^(2+)/Yb^(3+)/Er^(3+) tri-doped Cs2Ag0.8Na0.2InCl6 double perovskites (MYE-DP), which exhibit photoluminescence (PL) covering from visible to near-infrared (NIR). The PL colors under excitations of 254 and 365 nm are notably different due to the changed relative emission intensities of self-trapped excitons (STEs) and Mn^(2+) d–d transition. Moreover, under the excitation of a NIR laser, the MYE-DP exhibits upconversion (UC) emissions of Mn^(2+) and Er^(3+). After ceasing the excitation, the long-lived trapped electrons can be thermally released to Mn^(2+) and Er^(3+) ions, resulting in both visible and NIR afterglow. Based on multi-modal emissions of the MYE-DP, we demonstrate a five-level anti-counterfeiting strategy, which significantly increases the anti-counterfeiting security. In addition, this work provides valuable insights into the energy transfer between STEs, Mn^(2+), Ln^(3+), and traps, laying a solid foundation for future development of new lead-free perovskites.

Study of the geomagnetic field's regional gradients in Chinese continent using three-dimensional surface Spline model

We combined domestic ground-based and satellite magnetic measurements to create a regional three-dimensional surface Spline(3DSS)gradient model of the main geomagnetic field over the Chinese *** improve the precision of the model,we considered the data gap between the ground and satellite *** compared and analyzed the results of the Taylor polynomial,surface Spline,and CHAOS-6(the CHAMP,?rsted and SAC-C model of Earth’s magnetic field)gradient *** showed that the gradients in the south-north and east-west directions of the four models were *** 3DSS model was able to express not only gradients at different altitudes,but also average gradients inside the research *** two Spline models were able to capture more information on gradient anomalies than were the fitted *** local anomalies were observed in northern Xinjiang,Beijing,and the junction area between Jiangsu and Zhejiang,and the total intensity F decreased whereas the altitude *** gradient decreased by 21.69%in the south-north direction and increased by 11.78%in the east-west *** addition,the altitude gradient turned from negative to positive while the altitude *** Spline model and the two fitted models differed mainly in the field sources they expressed and the modeling theory.

We investigate the stability of magnetization in free layer where the spin torque is induced by the spin Hall *** terms of the Landau–Liftshitz–Gilbert equation,we find the low-energy and high-energy equilibrium states,as well as the saddle *** stability region is defined in the phase diagram spanned by the current density and the spin Hall *** spin Hall effect makes the previous saddle point into a stable state above a critical ***,in the presence of magnetic field,the spin Hall effect leads to the opposite changes in the stable regions of the two low-energy states.

Photoelectrochemical(PEC) cells involved with semiconductor electrodes can simultaneously absorb solar energy and perform chemical reactions, which are considered as an attractive strategy to produce renewable and clean hydrogen energy. Sb_(2)Se_(3) has been widely investigated in constructing PEC photocathodes benefitting of its low toxicity, suitable band gap, superior optoelectronic properties, and outstanding photocorrosion stability. We first present a brief overview of basic concepts and principles of PEC water splitting as well as a comparison between Sb_(2)Se_(3) and other numerous candidates. Then the material characteristics and preparation methods of Sb_(2)Se_(3) are introduced. The development of Sb_(2)Se_(3)-based photocathodes in PEC water splitting with various architectures and engineering efforts(i.e., absorber engineering, interfaces engineering, co-catalyst engineering and tandem engineering) to improve solar-to-hydrogen(STH) efficiency are highlighted. Finally, we debate the possible future directions to further explore the researching fields of Sb_(2)Se_(3)-based photocathodes with a strongly positive outlook in PEC processed solar hydrogen production.

Worst-Case Integrity Attacks and Resilient State Estimation With Partially Secured Measurements

This paper examines the problem of optimal deception attacks against state estimation with partially secured measurements, where smart sensors transmit innovation sequences to the remote end for information fusion. Due to resource limitations or defensive countermeasures, the adversary can only modify data packets transmitted through unreliable channels. Meanwhile, the attack should be synthesized with sophistication to deceive an anomaly detector. To investigate the vulnerabilities of such estimation systems without feedback links and enhance security performance, the optimal attack policy is derived by formulating and explicitly solving a convex optimization problem, with the goal of maximizing the sum of estimation errors. Subsequently, a novel attack detection and resilient state estimation algorithm is proposed to ensure an acceptable level of estimation accuracy. The theoretical performance metrics, including false alarm rates for the proposed detector, are provided. Finally, the effectiveness of the results is confirmed through numerical examples. © 2014 IEEE.

A dynamic resource allocation problem for jointly optimizing access point selection and task offloading is proposed for a mobile edge computing system in an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted cell-free (CF) networks for the purpose of delay reduction in an urban scenario. On the one hand, given that various resources are coupled in the optimization problem, exhibiting non-convex traits and thus cannot be directly separated. On the other hand, to expedite algorithm convergence while ensuring user data security, we propose a method that combines the federated learning (FL) framework with deep reinforcement learning (DRL). Specifically, we introduce a federated deep Q network (F-DQN) algorithm to execute the dynamic resource allocation strategy for the proposed problem. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better convergence performance than traditional Q-learning and deep Q network (DQN), and the proposed strategy has lower system delay with a maximum gain of 60.5% compared to other baseline strategies. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Improvement of hydrogen permeation barrier performance by iron sulphide surface films

Fe–S compounds with hexagonal crystal structure are potential hydrogen permeation barrier during H2S corrosion. Hexagonal system Fe–S films were prepared on carbon steel through corrosion and CVD deposition, and the barrier effect of different Fe–S films on hydrogen permeation was tested using electrochemical hydrogen permeation method. After that, the electrical properties of Fe–S compound during phase transformation were measured using thermoelectric measurement system. Results show that the mackinawite has no obvious barrier effect on hydrogen penetration, as a p-type semiconductor, and pyrrhotite (including troilite) has obvious barrier effect on hydrogen penetration,as an n-type semiconductor. Hydrogen permeation tests showed peak permeation performance when the surface was deposited with a continuous film of pyrrhotite (Fe_(1–x)S) and troilite. The FeS compounds suppressed hydrogen permeation by the promotion of the hydrogen evolution reaction, semiconducting inversion from p-to n-type, and the migration of ions at the interface.

Background and objectives: Dermatoscope is an important optical tool for dermatologists. Its illumination system is a key component for high quality visual observation and digital photography. The aim of this study was to evaluate the illumination system of a high-end handhold dermatoscope. Materials and Methods: DermLite DL5 was used for this study. The dermatoscope equipped with sophisticated illumination system for visualization under white, yellow and ultraviolet (UV) light with or without the use of polarization. A fiber optic spectrometer was used to measure the spectra of each lighting mode. A handhold spectrometer was used to measure the color temperature, luminance and chromatic aberration of various lighting conditions under non-polarized, cross-polarized and parallel-polarized modes. The uniformity of each lighting condition was analyzed by pixel analysis of projected digital images. Results: The peak wavelength of the UV LEDs was 377 nm and the full width at half maximum (FWHM) was 21.27 nm. The peak wavelength of the yellow LEDs was 591 nm and the FWHM was 15.5 nm. The color temperature of white LEDs was over 9000 k in several modes, whereas the color temperature of the yellow LEDs varied widely and the color temperature of mixed lighting remained stable at 5000 k. The uniformity of white, yellow and mixed lighting was less than ±10%. Conclusions: The designed higher color temperature of the tested handhold dermatoscope can accommodate the physician's view of skin blood vessels. Good uniformity under different lighting and viewing modes not only satisfies the human eye but also ensure the high quality of dermatoscope digital image of the skin. © 2024 SPIE.
